I arrived 5 minutes before my appointment because I couldn't fund the place. They ask you to arrive 15 minutes before facial. So, I asked if I would be able to get the full treatment, and if I couldn't, I'd like a refund. He shrugged his shoulders and said I'll give you a refund. I asked for receipt for refund and he became combative. He seemed real irritated and I said, "I don't know why you are irritated, I'm the one who couldn't find the place. Then, he told me to stop yelling at him. I explained I wasn't yelling and that I'm a teacher and I'm using my normal voice. He then started SCREAMING at me and said, "Well, this is My normal voice." Then he muttered that Ohio and these people weren't working out for him. "I will have to talk to my boss and see if I can go back to Chicago. When he said that to me, I said we'll then go back to Chicago or any other city or country you want to ... He jumped off of his chair and got in my face yelling that he was from Paris. I replied, Paris, good for you! I just need proof of my refund. Then, he started screaming are you a racist? You're a racist! He was jumping in my face, so I retreated from store into mall area. I notified security and they went down to talk to him, but he closed the glass doors. So, guard tapped on the glass to get his attention and then he turned lights out and didn't respond So, I never got my facial, but I did get a refund because I called my credit card before I left the mall. I am a teacher, I write this because we tend to be more reasonable than most. I made an appointment with Nouvelle Vie Med Spa after purchasing a Groupon for my 40th birthday. When I arrived the staff did not know why I was there or what services I would be receiving. No major problem, with some waiting they were able to fit me in. The massage therapist was capable and the esthetician​ performing my facial was great. Overall, the experience was solid enough. The following month I went online to research laser hair removal options. I discovered Nouvelle Vie Med Spa had a Groupon for three sessions of laser removal. As I had already had six laser hair removal treatments nearly 10 years ago, I decided this would suffice and made the purchase. I noted the fine print stated: "Valid only for select treatment areas. Limit 1 per month. Appointments required. Limit 1 per visit, may buy 1 additional as gift(s). Limit 1 per visit...." No worries, I had my massage and facial more than a month ago, so I made the purchase. When I called to make the appointment, they stated, " You cannot use the voucher because​ you already used a Groupon for services at our spa, but that we will give you a great deal and could we call you right back?" They didn't call me right back. A few hours later, I returned the call. I explained my previous success with laser hair removal prior to moving to New York and how I was actually interested in having further treatments on my underarms, chin, full legs, forearms and full Brazilian. A negotiation ensued with me stating, "Keep my number and when you offer a special, call me!" Shockingly, the price came down to $1800 for 6 treatments. I decided that was fair- we all have to make a living. I was to pay for the treatments in 3 installments of $600 during the first 3 treatments. I showed up to my appointment to discover they gave it to someone else, but they were willing to fit me in when they were done with her. The receptionist told me she sent me texts and called five times the previous day. There were no texts, no voicemails, but there were two missed calls. I understood my appointment was time-consuming​ and let the other woman go- perhaps shame on me for not confirming my own appointment?!? Also, again they had no idea which areas I​ would be treating. I pulled up my Groupon​ to show the receptionist the details and questioned why the ​contract was not honored when I made the appointment. She made a feeble attempt to outwit me and ultimately ended it with, "It was a mistake with Groupon and that they would be changing it. Was I expecting to get all those areas treated with​ the Groupon?" I explained, "No, I was actually expecting to begin $1800 worth of treatment today and was able to pay for it all, but since I am tired of the bait and switch I am walking out! This place isn't that busy to be so willing to lose $1800 in business?!?!" The spa is located in the basement of an OB-GYN office and has been tastefully appointed. I try to be reasonable, but I also have no tolerance for bait and switch tactics from businesses who want the initial capital a Groupon raises but care not to deliver on the details outlined in the contract. I really didn't want to leave a bad review for this place, and in general, avoid giving bad reviews. However - I scheduled my appointment about a week out The day before someone called me to reschedule which would have been hard to do so I asked if there was any way for them to fit me in. The girl said she'd called me back in an hour.. That never happened. The day of my appointment I called them when they first opened and they asked if I could come within an hour. I did. The front desk didn't ask for any of my information or anything. They told me my therapist would take me in. She did. She didn't introduce herself at all, told me to change and lay face up. She didn't ask where i felt tension or pain or anything at all. She didn't ask where to focus. Absolutely nothing. The massage itself was not a massage. It was a thorough and aggressive rubbing of oil into my skin. There was no massaging involved. I won't be returning to this basement trap. read more

I think Tanya (sp?) is an outstanding masseuse. She used several techniques on me and diagnosed areas that need further attention. In fact, Tonya recommended a massage ball I could use at home, and urged me to visit, again, because one 50-minute massage was not sufficient. Unfortunately, the room was not warm enough for me, and the the massage table was too high to mount but I managed. No step stool was provided and the floor was also cold. PLEASE provide slippers or socks for clients, and a robe! I am accustomed to being offered these things at a spa. Also, it is customary for the front desk to offer water to clients. There is a water cooler and a Keurig machine but it appears one has to find everything (including bathroom) on her own. I would focus more on the customer service aspect, though no one was rude. In fact, Mary booked my appointment, and she really has a warm spirit. If you want to try out Nouvelle Vie Med Spa, I'd say go for it, because you really can't beat the price. read more

Horrible and disgusting place! I received this as a Groupon voucher gift for a massage and facial. I called the place for an appointment and was scheduled nine days after for 3PM . I received a call that same day at 12:34PM and a person who spoke with me was super rude and claimed that my appointment is at 4:30PM and she was calling to confirm it. I politely explained to her that I have a very busy schedule and arranged my day around this massage and facial, but she would not hear any of it and with a nasty attitude said that I can be only seen at 4:30PM. Again, I tried to explain to her that they scheduled my appointment for 3PM and I was already heading to Brooklyn to take care of things and head to my appointment. All I got was a nasty reply back that I cannot come at 3PM, because they have booked someone else for 3PM and I would not be allowed to come in for 3PM! They booked someone else for my appointment and decided that if they be aggressive I would agree to a 4:30PM? Is that the approach of this place, because nastiness does not work well on me! I could have probably made it for 4:30PM, but their unprofessional attitude was such a turn off that I realized no reputable masseuse would work for a place like this. No apology, just a nasty attitude! Big turn off and that is not how you run a business. I called my friend and told her to contact the Groupon and cancel this voucher. My mother is a very particular woman and very hard to impress bit when I tell u she came out from her service feel lighter, relaxed and happy. Very clean place, the woman who did the cleanse ( sorry i don't remember her name, but she had short hair ) she did an awesome job with it... very smooth and explained what she was doing and also listened to my concerns... I brought a groupon to try out this spa. It was a little tricky to find. You have to walk through a doctors office and go down to a basement. I had a 11AM appointment and I didnt get to go into the room until 11:40AM. I wasnt please with the scheduling. It really felt like going to the doctor. The place was nice and clean. Reception was also nice and offered drinks. Tanya was my masseuse. The atmosphere was relaxing and the room was spacious. I didnt find her to put much strength unlike other places ive been to. It felt like just rubbing me. This was the only place that i've been to that massage your tummy. Also she starts with you laying up first which was different. read more

Whomever the interior designer was that fashioned the incredibly posh and luxurious decor deserves a A+++. Artwork was fabulous. Restroom and waiting section was over the top contemporary; quite impressive. Now the most important part: the massage itself was simply mesmerizing. I thought at one point I was melting. The table was heated, the oil used seemed pleasant, and the craftsmanship was extremely efficient and professional. I found this spa on Groupon. I needed a same day appointment on a Friday and they were able to accommodate me. The spa is located on the basement level of a doctor's office. You have to walk through the office to go downstairs. The spa is cute, nice little set up. It was clean and welcoming, but not cozy. I like my spas cozy feeling. My esthetician name was Julia and she was very pleasant. We shared a short convo then she went right to work. The facial was okay, the facial, neck & shoulder massage were very relaxing. I got an 80 minute massage that was really 65 minutes when I complained she said there's five minutes to get undressed and dressed again and really it was 75 so not even the 80 that I paid for. They didn't do anything about it tried to tell me it was 75 minutes when I looked at the time and proved to them they only gave me an hour. Also for some of reason the women called me the day before four times in a row and left me a voicemail to confirm then called me again to 2 minutes before to ask when I was getting there and how many minutes. I went to this spa on a Groupon gift I received for the holidays For their Youth facial. I had a difficult time trying to schedule an appointment over the phone so I emailed I believed the owner, who responded to my email immediately and schedule my appointment via email!. The actual location of this spa is a bit tricky to find but for all those who are planning on going to this spa its on the lower level of a GYN practice. With that said once I walked down the steps the atmosphere immediately starts changing and opens up into a very zen, tranquil waiting room! Very nicely decorated. The receptionist greeted me by my name upon entering (A+). I filled out standard paperwork and was soon after greeted by the Aesthetician Maryanna who walked me back into the private room where the zen ambiance was also carried through. They did an amazing job of keeping me completely relaxed with the lit candles and therapeutic relaxing sounds in the background ( combinations of ocean waves and rainstorms). Maryanna has amazing soft hands which made this experience even more relaxing. She also included a short massage of my arms and upper back at the end of my facial which was the perfect ending to my facial. My face was glowing at the end, extremely soft and felt so moisturize and lasted till the next day, I will definitely recommend this spa to everyone who wants Manhattan quality service without the hassle of going into the city. Can 0 stars be an option? Initially based on other reviews I thought this spa would of been a great birthday treat for a couples massage. The moment we arrived the vibe felt weird the older masseuse was the first person we encountered when we arrived, her way of greeting us was "you have voucher" ( maybe most of their business is from Groupon / maybe their African American clients typically use Groupon ? Not sure where the assumption stems from but either way not a friendly greeting ) we were then told by the receptionist to have a seat and she will take us back for the massage. We sat there for almost 30 minutes meanwhile the older masseuse walked back and forth went to the rest room , got a drink of water , and returned to a back area where we overheard her talking in a different language to someone. Minutes later a different masseuse ( the Younger one ) came out and said the other masseuse (older woman ) suddenly became "ill, her blood pressure is high , she forgot to take her medicine etc etc" and that instead she could do the massage one at at time for us or to reschedule. The point of a couple massage is to have the experience together ! Besides feeling discriminated against by the "sick masseuse" it was really convenient that this was expressed to us AFTER they redeemed our Groupons. We rescheduled for 3 days later in which the receptionist called the day before and left a message saying one of the masseuses is not feeling well again. she then called again the day of and said now that the masseus is hospitalized and won't be able to do the couple massage this week or next week but the other masseuse can do one massage at a time ( I guess the younger masseuse is the one that massages the African American clients ?)
