This little bakery is a hidden gem in Lexington! It's good for pick up and go, but there were some seating options outside on the sidewalk. The pastries are really delicious and so beautiful. The pistachio croissant is huge and definitely good to share. The pastry was perfectly flaky and was filled with a generous amount of pistachio filling. We stopped by on a morning walk in Downtown Lexington, per my sister's recommendation. The store & line are small but move fast. You can see the bakers making bread in the back while waiting for your drink order. The pastries came out immediately, at payment stage. All I'll say is that this reminds me of famed Copenhagen bakery Andersen & Maillard with the detail on the pastries & the shop display. I couldn't contain my excitement to try my two baked goods while driving back home due to the rain. Both the matcha pastry and ham & cheese danish were simply too delicious!! Got here at 10:45am Sunday, there was a little line. Got the miso bacon "escargot" the matcha pain suisse and egg tart. My fav was the matcha- crisp, lots of cream in the center and a mild but present green tea flavor. The savory miso was fine, it didn't blow my mind. The flavor was again mild. The egg tart was the most disappointing. The tart is buttery, but the actual egg custard lacks flavor- it really needs an umph. The butter in the tart over powers the custard which is unfortunate because it's very creamy. I wouldn't go out of my way for this, and we did trek quite a ways. read more

Apparently hidden gem famous, the barista said people line up outside before it even opens every day to grab their most popular pastries - like matcha au pain. No seats inside, and it's located in a cute downtown neighborhood! Lots of street parking available. When we got there around 2:30pm, there were barely any pastries left. We got the cinnamon pastry, the honey toast, and the flat white. The honey toast looks dry at a glance, but was quite addicting and I couldn't stop eating. Just the right amount of sweetness, and I think if you dunked it in soy milk or milk, it'd be even better! The cinnamon pastry was definitely sweeter, but had a more fun flaky and soft texture with notes of cinnamon. Love that there's an Asian inspired bakery that also ties in French and western flavors!! read more

Japanese French bakery with both savory and sweet pastries. We went on a Sunday morning and there was a small line outside. There isn't much room inside, so I assume there's usually a line. We got a sausage pastry and a matcha pain suisse, which they said is a best seller, and also a hot coffee. Definitely skip the regular coffee and go across the street! This was very watered down. I liked the savory pastry a lot more than the matcha one. Prices are quite steep, but they are beautifully made and love the unique flavors. read more

Small shop with stellar pastries. Ventured out to Nouve since my sister was in town to try their pastries and it did not disappoint. We tried their ham and cheese croissant and pain au chocolat and were impressed with how delicious they were. Definitely a top spot for anything laminated dough. There's so many other things to try I'll have to come back. The shop is small so it definitely can get crowded even when it's not super busy. Pastries are at a higher price point vs other popular spots in the Boston metro but I'd say it's worth it if you're in the area. The staff here are friendly and keep the line moving quickly. There's about 5-6 spots to sit and they're counter spots along the wall. Street parking was not hard to find around 9am on a Saturday. read more

Very small and cute bakery. Limited seating space so it's more of a get and go type of place. I wanted to buy all the pastries but limited myself to one matcha croissant as it was $10. I will say it is worth the money as it was delicious. Flaky exterior and very smooth matcha flavor really complimented well with each other. I really was looking forward to this place based on their marketing though Instagram but was pretty let down. I visited during the week after work to grab a few pastries and they didn't have as much variety as the weekend. Overall, it was very pretty and aesthetic inside and totally picture worthy. There is no seating inside so it is more of a order and go kind of place. What I didn't like/need to be improved: - I noticed that they put all the "nice" looking pastries closer to the front near the glass (which doesn't matter too much but the difference between the nice and not so great ones are noticeable. You will def be getting the burnt ones near the back) - wish they had more tea drink options - I got the miso scallion escargot... it was salty in some parts and normal in other. It was dense and oily. Not worth even close to $7.5 (see pic) - I ordered 4 items but once I opened my box, there was only 3. They forgot the honey toast I ordered - didn't get the almond croissant even though they're my favorite, but they really look burnt in the display - a red flag that I ignored was when they claimed to have the first and only shokupan in MA on Instagram which is totally untrue Since this place is new, I'll hope it gets better over time. Maybe you'll have better luck and get a good piece when you visit. I don't think they are worth the price if they are this inconsistent. read more

Small store with a lot of delicious croissant like pastries. The selection isn't huge but the quality is good. I wasn't a huge fan of the giant egg tart though, the crust isn't flaky and is more like a pie crust. A lot of their more popular pastries (the matcha creme and hot dog croissant) are sold out very early and they said you should get there before 11am. read more

Cute little bakery that opened this past February. Very conveniently situated for all the weekend cycling rides and the hordes of hungry cyclists looking to fuel up. Near impossible to walk past their window display of croissants and other pastries without stopping inside and grabbing at least one thing to try. (Their closing hours are noted with a "when things sell out." So if you get here late, they might still be open but the offerings would be skimpy.) Everyone behind the counter was very friendly and happy to offer recommendations. I went with two favorites - the fruit Danish and the Nouve soufflé for a balance of sweet and savory. The soufflé reminded me of a cheesy egg custard in the shape of a small loaf. Utterly delicious but pretty dense and heavy on the stomach. My favorite was the Danish. Nicely laminated, flaky layers, good chunk of filling and fresh fruit. It's takeout only but lots of benches nearby. As other reviews mentioned, the prices are pretty high (my two pastries and a drink were about $18) but the quality and care are there as well. read more

Easily the best pastries in the Boston area! This quaint little bakery has a ton of unique varieties, all which are equally as tasty. Service here was nice but moves pretty quickly - this spot is very popular and they definitely want people in and out. I ended up trying a pistachio pastry, a matcha pastry, and a fruit tart. They were all absolutely beautiful-looking and delicious. The price tag for these is quite high, but I think it's worth the hype. Keep in mind that there aren't really any spots to eat inside here, and on a cold winter day you'll probably just want to bring them back home with you. read more

The Honey toast was a taste of heaven! The outside crust was perfectly sweet and the inside was so soft and still so warm. I still cannot stop thinking about it! The Miso scallion was so flaky and crispy on the outside. The Subtle bites of savoriness on the inside was perfection. Do not be deterred from the line as it does move fast! The bakery is very small and there a few seats against the wall for a quick bite but don't plan on enjoying your breakfast there. If the weather is nice, there are a few tables outside! There was still a good amount of pastries available, but we got the second to last matcha suisse. That one was by far my favorite, since I love anything matcha. The pistachio escargot was also a standout. In addition to the pastries, I also got an iced chai latte with oat milk, which was pretty good. I was torn on whether or not to share this review with the world. Selfishly of course because Nouvé is unquestionably the best croissant you will get in Massachusetts. No one comes close. Not even by a mile! I spent several months in Paris and this is as close as it gets here. RUN to Nouvé for showstopping laminated pastries. We're talking both sweet pastries (chocolate, danish, seasonal specialties) and savory (miso scallion and ham and cheese). The employees are so nice in answering my million questions and not rushing me as I hesitated to finalize just how many pastries I wanted to leave with. I came in thinking 2 and left with 4...ooops? No regrets though! The display is heavenly and it is well worth a spontaneous drive to Lexington for one (or many) croissants! read more

Very impressive new French bakery in the heart of Lexington's restaurant row of sorts near the historic statue. Narrow entry, display cases inside and at the window out front, but no seating or bathroom. Strictly to go, but a short walk to the common and other areas you can eat outside. (Warning: don't eat in your car, lest the crisp croissant shrapnel fly everywhere.) I tried three items and all were delight. Coffee Croissant: square, layered, lightly brushed on top and sprinkled with little nibs. Each layer golden brown and crackly crisp like a proper croissant should be. Good flavor to the dough. Inside, a VERY thick and dark pudding-like filling that looked like chocolate but tasted like strong coffee mixed with chocolate. A bit experimental but as enjoyable as it was messy. Thumbs up. Chocolate Croissant: The standard horn shape for chocolate croissants, with similarly impressive golden brown dough with another great crackle. Chocolate wasn't so noticeable from the outside, but very strong and very dark, which is a nice step up from the milk chocolate you see too often these days. Good flavor. Thumbs up. Swisse: An elongated tube of croissant dough strings, each one more crisp and crackly than the other two items combined, with gooey custard and chocolate inside. Good flavor, though the outer casing was more about texture, with the filling more explosively and sinfully flavorful. Thumbs up. Pricing is on the high end, but so is quality, so I'm fine with that. The only real negative is lack of seating. Friendly staff. I'll be back, and I suspect fairly frequently in warmer months. read more

We were all pretty disappointed to find that they only had two offerings (plain croissant and honey toast) and learn that they only put out their full assortment on weekends. Love their mocha pain suisse, the taste of green tea is pretty strong and it's not so sweet. The pain suisse is not bad but not as good as the mocha flavor. The fruit danish is also very tasty, the bread crust is very crunchy. Pistachio croissant is not very good, too much chocolate not enough pistachio. Beef hotdog croissant is good for meat lovers as breakfast option, with crunchy bread and a tasty hotdog inside, the hotdog is a bit salty for me but it goes well with the bread. The service is pretty good, the store is a bit small, usually there's a line and can fit probably up to 8 people, with just a few chairs to sit on while waiting. It's a nicely new bakery in the Lexington downtown and offers a variety of tastes, without needing to drive to Allston or Boston to get such taste. It is a bit pricy though read more

After reading reviews here telling us to "get there early for the best variety!", we did. Unfortunately, at around 8:20AM on a Saturday, they didn't have many options out, as it looks like they were still setting up. So, apparently there's a sweet spot sometime between opening and when they run out that you need to find. One of those options they did have out was a hot dog croissant, which really doesn't scream breakfast pastry (plus one of us is vegetarian). Also passed over the matcha croissant because... ugh. Leaving us with just the cappuccino croissant and the sugar bun. After dropping $27 on four pastries, we get home. I'm eager to try out the cappuccino croissant. I bite in and taste... disappointment. Like, there's nothing in it. No cappuccino flavor. No nothing. It's filled with air (see photo). The pastry inside seemed a bit undercooked, although at least the outside was crispy. The second croissant did have filling, at least (see other photo) and tasted OK. But at a $7 price point I'd expect better quality assurance. The sugar bun was fairly dry. Tasted OK, but nothing spectacular. So, definitely not worth the early morning special trip. Maybe we'll stop in to give them a second chance if we happen to be in the area, but it's not worth a special trip. read more

French Japanese bakery with unique flavors I've never seen at any other bakeries! There's usually a short line on the weekends but it moves fast. I tried the miso scallion and chicken sausage croissants. I liked the flavors of both but I think the glazes made the croissants less crispy and flakey compared to a traditional croissant. It's great if someone provides excellent customer service, it's good and fully acceptable if they simply just do their job, however it is completely unacceptable for them to go out of their way to be rude. Initially, I had given this particular employee the benefit of the doubt thinking they had a bad day. However by the 4th and 5th time, it becomes outright wrong. Each visit, I am stressed wondering if I am going to be on the receiving end of unprovoked disrespect. I hope that this employee, their coworkers or supervisors see this review and genuinely take a look at this individual's actions, find the root cause and grow from it. A few friends and I recently stopped by Nouvé Bakery, a small grab-and-go spot with a pretty quick-moving line and a solid variety of baked goods. I'm going to be honest, this cafe's Instagram marketing blows this spot way out of proportion. The croissants are pretty good, but after having been three times and experiencing rude staff every time, a $10 dollar croissant will never ever be worth it. We got the matcha pain suisse and it had an okay flavor to it but it was almost melting out of the croissant making it a very hard to enjoy. The bottom of this pasty was soggy as well. The flavor was there but almost like overpowered by a cream flavor. Overall 2/10 We also got the ham and cheese, and it was just lacking everything you'd expect from a ham and cheese croissant. Barely filling, and the edges were very hard and the meat looked gray.(wondering how long they let it sit out) for a croissant that's supposed to be hearty and savory it was dissapointing. Got the chocolate croissant here and it was honestly really really delicious. The pastry was flaky, buttery, and utterly delicious. The chocolate was also very rich and not too sweet.
