My friend got the muddy river which was a chocolate base with shavings of peanut butter in it + chocolate sprinkles on top. She loved it. Then my other friend got coffee Oreo in a cone. Also incredible. I love soft serve with sprinkles so I started with that, but I neeeeded some coffee oreo for myself and ended up getting that too! I was hoping to try some of their soft-serve but under they had ran out/the machine wasn't working, so I settled for some M&Ms flavored ice cream in one of their smallest sized cups. A mixed bag today. We both ordered smalls, mine was a kiddie, a noticeable difference between the two. At least I was charged for the kiddie and not the small. I got the peach which was very good. During the late 40s & 50s they started making ice cream & this went on for many years. After 80 years the business had changed & they sold their Milk division & decided to solely concentrate on ice scream. In 1984, Joe and Dave Venturi purchased the business & are still the current owners. This is now the oldest running business in Bedford. The Parking here is FREE. They have also added a second location in Concord MA. They serve 60 Flavors of Homemade ice cream including both Hard & Soft Serve & Frozen Yogurt too. They also make Sundaes, Banana Boats, Banana Splits, Frappes, Floats, Freezes, Lime Rickeys etc. You can also order some to go pints, quarts & 1/2 gallons. They also make custom cakes & pies. We got there at night just before closing time. We ordered the chocolate chip which was Good & the Rum Raisin - an old school classic that's very hard to find. The Rum Raisin was Very Good. One of their most popular flavors is their Green Monster. We heard however the flavor to get here is Coffee. I am not a huge coffee ice cream fan. I don't love it. I don't hate it. It's just OK. I never order it, but I'll take one for the team. So we ordered a quart of coffee ice cream to go. Well we're glad we did. The coffee ice cream is not your run of the mill coffee. Don't bother. Completely run by high school students. I ordered a pint, they're out. I order a different one, they're out of that too. The guy in front of me waiting for his order says "they're out of everything." Then the girl points to a sign with all the flavors that that are out of. Wouldn't it make much more sense to have a list of the flavors they HAVE, but then, look what you're dealing with. I then ask for a frappe. The frappe machine is off. GOODBYE! We've been here a few times and something always goes wrong. When you order a pint, they feel the need to overfill it so that when you get home, it's a complete mess. Tonight was the last straw. Great ice cream with quick service, an amazing variety of flavors, and huge portions! We came here on a Saturday evening after dinner for a quick dessert and found this place to be the perfect spot. Ample parking and a small area to sit on the side with benches made for a pleasant ice cream experience. I loved the consistency of their regular ice cream flavors and the portion was fantastic for its price. The nondairy options they have were a little icy so the texture wasn't perfect, but the taste was still decent. A small is honestly a lot for one person so I'd share if possible unless you want a lot! The workers were fast with getting our orders in and actually serving the ice cream so our group of 8 was in and out in under 20 minutes. I ordered an ice cream cake from Bedford farms because they allowed you to customize the flavors which I was excited for as my partner has his favorite flavor combo that I couldn't find anywhere. I've never been to this ice cream stand before but it looked great. Went during rush hour to go get it (they weren't open until like 3pm). Brought it back and served it to my partner and we quickly realized it's full of preservatives and other chemicals because it DID NOT MELT--like at all. We were driving around the Bedford area and discovered this ice cream shop during a nice hot sunny day. The staff here were kind, sweet and quick, and they did not rush my 6 yo who is trying to order his ice cream like other ice cream shops when it's busy. Additionally, I love how the staff here appeared to have good communication skills as they are working together in a nice cohesive manner. More importantly, the ice cream here was fantastic! We've been coming here for years, always been a consistent staple until today. $18 for two small dipped cones! Have you guys lost your mind? This spot has been known for it's generous portions for a fair price, but not anymore. Both of our moosetracks cones had ZERO fudge, it was just vanilla ice cream with small peanut butter cups. Our first cones of the 2024 season will probably be our last until they reassess pricing. I know the price of everything has gone up and the location borders a very affluent town, but the line at this place is always a mile long, you don't need to be charging these prices. I love how they have so many flavors. Some of which, you need to look up because they're flavors you've never heard of. But nevertheless, when I'm the area, you have to try this place. I got the green monster which was a mint flavor ice cream with fudge and Oreos. I got the smallest size since I know servings here are huge. I believe the ice cream comes with toppings too (if you want to order it). But I didn't get any just because I didn't want to make my ice cream too sweet. I visit Massachusetts about 4 or more times a year and I have to have ice-cream from Bedford Farms or the trip is incomplete! My favorite flavor is the mocha chip because it's so rich and creamy and frankly just perfect. Usually when there's chocolate chips in ice cream, the chips turn hard from the temperature and don't exactly 'melt' in your mouth. I have no idea what they do here but for some reason the chocolate chips in the mocha chip are a pure delight! They are soft and blend perfectly with the ice cream. We came here on a weekday evening with the parking lot packed with customers coming and going for their famous ice cream. This is a local joint where they come to experience a rich and creamy delight filled with one of the best selection. 60+! Many of the flavors and toppings included chocolate but they also offered frozen yogurt and soft serve. As we walked up to the counter, staff gladly took our order. I sampled the Purple Cow Chips but decided on the Maple Walnut in a mini cup ($4.25). I learned my lesson from Boston that there's a small size (big enough for two) and the mini size perfect for a single individual! My Maple Walnut was a combination of maple and vanilla with the crunch of the walnuts. If you like maple, you'll like this choice. My guest had the very popular Green Monster (mint ice cream with Oreo cookies and fudge). Super sweet and over the top! The outdoor seating is extremely limited and at night, we ate it with some unwanted guests (a.k.a. mosquitos). So you don't need to drink a gallon of water afterward. The ubiquitous high school girl staff you see at a lot of these local ice cream joints is here as well. As a New England native and a resident of the Boston area for the majority of my life, I've been coming to Bedford Farms for several years to fuel my sweet tooth whenever I get the craving, (you know the one). Now as good as their ice cream is, the service is a whole other sorry that honesty makes me cringe and not wanna return to their business at all! The employees all seem to me quite hostile and rushed, as if they'd rather be doing anything else than serving customers and making ice cream, which is their job. Also, I've had quite a few visits where my family and I will go and order our respective treats, and we'll literally only be handed half the order and be shooed away with a "Have a nice day", in the most monotone and depressing greeting voice possible. Ordering at this place makes me feel so inferior and second-class, and I really think Bedford Farms needs to step it up if they want more customers. Also, their "milkshakes" are legit just ice cream thrown into a cup, so pretty lazy job when it comes to that. read more

I am usually more incline to getting something when the place looks clean and is not messy. This place was spacious and clean and definitely had a nice vibe to it. I have gone there twice to get ice cream and each time I make the mistake of getting a small. ITS HUGE. Next to Holi restaurant and the Bedford Motel (now if that doesn't look like a place that rents by the hour, ew). Small sign, slightly rusted, making this place hard to find if you blink. A tad pricey for the portion size. $4.65 for a kiddie, which is a single scoop. I had ordered smalls - which are listed as a "large single scoop" since they are only 20 cents more, but the server screwed up and brought the first one out as a kiddie, do kiddies we got. The White River Junction was vanilla with a ton of caramel and almonds. Couldn't really taste any vanilla. Loved all the caramel. I don't know how they get so much caramel in and avoid it being sicky sweet, but some how they do. My only gripe was the almonds - they were whole almonds and I thought they were just too big for an ice cream add in. The vanilla with jimmies was so so. No real flavor. After recently relocating to the area for work, I now know that a pint-sized serving of ice cream from any of these outdoor "farm stand" type ice cream places is the norm out here. Don't get me wrong, I don't have any issues with it, but just know, that if you want more than one flavor, which my indecisive self always does, you REALLY have to commit because you're about to get served what every child dreams is a normal serving of ice cream. It's a lot (in a good way.) I tried Milky Way and Mud Pie, and both were really good. Typically, anything with coffee is usually a favorite for me, but this time around, I actually preferred the Milky Way flavor over the Mud Pie. The friend that I was with also liked Milky Way the best out of her two flavors. We were both just so happy to have such a large quantity of ice cream on a really hot day that they could have been lackluster flavors, and we still would've enjoyed them. Overall, I liked this little stand. There's good ice cream. There's plenty of parking, and the lines move quickly.
