This is a story all about how, my life got flipped turned upside down. The good: After all was said and done we actually ended up with our new home. No other good came from this. The bad: .... See The review. The Review: We were in the market for a house obviously, and my lady and I were super excited. We had cleared up all of our debts, and gotten our credit up to par. We had contacted a few lenders prior, but decided to go with cityworth after our talks fell through with another lender because he was just an absolute jerk who was very short with my fiance, and offered little assistance from the jump. When we started working with cityworth they were actually pretty good, or so we thought. They were communicating with our realtor, and and keeping us in the loop of everything. Which was good for us, because we went outside of our realtor recommended lenders, that he has known and has a good rapport with. We got pre approved, and once we found out what our price range was we started shopping around for house. Our search for our home lasted maybe a month, and once we were sure we approached our realtor and told him that we would like to make an offer on the home... The whole time Cityworth had been asking us for everything but a DNA swab sample, and we were very good about getting back to them within a day or 2 to provide them with what they needed. Just when we were about to enter the closing process all hell breaks loose. They start repeatedly asking us for paperwork that we had sent in already, and when I say repeatedly I mean 4,5, and 6 times. When we complained they stopped communicating with us, except to ask for more paperworks that we had already sent them. We would call them, and get no answer. Emails went unanswered. My realtor is calling us to ask if we had heard anything from them, and we were doing the same to him with no success. They would call us after business hours, and ask for payroll info from old employers. I had to leave work, and drive to baltimore and hour away to get a w-2 that I was told I wouldn't need months earlier. My lady had to leave work in Baltimore to drive an hour and a half away to get paperwork she was told months ago she wouldn't need. Every other day was something else literally, and then we get notified that the guy who was taking care of our account was fired, and that we would have someone else finishing out our closing process. Our closing date was pushed back twice, and the seller almost wasn't going to be able to Sell or purchase there new home because of our Lenders issues. It got so bad that the seller started contacting us Via facebook for details. It was during this time that we learned that Cityworth was in touch frequently with the Seller, Though they were supposed to represent us. The seller started giving us updates on the goings on with the house in a strange twist of events, and had even at one point threatened to sue Cityworth over bad practices. All the while we are still being harassed to provide paperwork damn near until the day we closed. While being told for a bout of month that "All we need is this one last thing and we're good" which was a lie. Within the last weeks of closing, after the date was moved back twice. I was actually asked to provide verification of my employment. That right there should tell you just how far off this company was. Here we are approved for a loan, and a month past or original closing date, and here they are just finally verifying my employment. The whole time we are unsure of the status of our closing. We can't plan a move. The sellers are stuck because they can't move out or start the process for their new home until they close. We're stuck paying for our townhouse,which we had already given notice, and were expected to be out the door the month prior. Not sure if we were about to lose all the money we put into inspections, and everything else. We can't enroll our kids into school, my youngest was supposed to be starting Pre-K (Didn't happen). We were basically about to lose our townhouse, and not have a new home either. The seller ended up pressuring them to make the close happen, and when it did, not only were we relieved to have a new home, but we were relieved to be rid of them. We cannot wait to refinance, just so we have no further connection with this company. I would not suggest them to my worst enemy. They were horrible.... NEGATIVE 50 STARS! read more

I dealt with Marques Johnson I dealt with Marques Johnson and his team. Awful experience! Started the application process on Sept 4th. Paid out of pocket for the appraisal on the house. Was reassured by the realtor that the house would apprise for asking price. Which it didn't... Got all the way to the closing and something was overlooked on our income to debt ration by the underwriters. Everything was smooth until then. I was talking with the Processor daily and was kept well informed until there was a hiccup in the ending factor. Basically they got my husband and I hopes up in saying we were approved this whole time and in the end we were denied. After having several emails from Marques that was not very professional, I asked him to delete our file and we would find another bank willing to work with us. Which we did. As a real estate professional, you find that even when it comes to one company that you are working with each individual within the company has a different routine and work ethics. Thankfully the individual that I had the pleasure to work with to assist another individual with purchasing a home was very dedicated to his job. There was no lack of communication on his part, which is always benefit when you are busy yourself, because it reduces the amount of time that you have to spend in order to transmit communications between two or more parties at any given time. The only negative that I experienced during the time that I was working with this individual was that they went on vacation and I had to figure out who my point of contact was during their time away from the office. Regardless, we were able to successfully close and get another individual under contract on the same day. As the loan started to proceed the loan person I dealt with was dodging my emails and calls until we called his supervisor. We were lied to numerous times, things were misrepresented, and charges were given to us AFTER we made an offer on a home that we knew nothing about before buying, and I am not talking about closing costs. When we finally signed for a home, after the sellers agreed to our offer, suddenly Cityworth said they had been "audited" and couldn't write loans for people in Pennsylvania for 6 months. I worked with Eric Miller and he was great! If I sent him a text or e-mail he was back with me within minutes. Of course I tried not to bother him on the weekends. This was a challenging process only because it was all completed by e-mails, texting and scanning. Nothing like a face to face process. Mr. Miller let me know who I needed to talk with and what I needed for this loan to go through. It did seem like I was e-signing documents over and over, but I sent it again if it was requested. I did reschedule a closing because the seller requested it, but completed closing in about 45 days. I love my home and mountain views. I wish all of the bad reviews would've been posted before I started with this company. They are HORRIBLE RUN RUN RUN. DO NOT feel like there are more good reviews than bad because the bad are the real reviews!! My husband and I started with them and ended up having to rebuild our credit and start over with someone else! We spent nearly a year and ended up with nothing from them. After run around and around, many delays still came out empty handed! So now we have wasted money during this process of attempting to buy a home and have to start over with someone else and wait until the credit rebuild due to this companies ill practices. The worst part is that I felt like I was working a job for them because I was putting in so much work to get this through! The lender would become MIA anytime we needed an answer and not give us a straight answer. I mean he disappeared the day before closing! And didn't say anything until I forced it out of him, just to delay closing and disappear AGAIN! Eventually the sellers got tired and pulled the plug, I feel bad that they lost so much money (even though we did also) but thank God that they had a heart and we could come out with our deposit.
