The fresh cut flowers and plants welcome you into this Armenian market, with tall, vibrant roses unlike those found at most florists. Big Square also offers a solid selection of produce, meats, pastres, alcohol, and other goods. Specialty items like Armenian coffee, unique condiments, and hard to find deli products are always available. For meat products, they have frozen quail, which is usually difficult to find... however, I have never been a fan of their other meat items. The one time I purchased shank and liver, it wasn't as fresh and of quality I anticipated. Parking can at times be difficult and drivers are a bit aggressive. I suggest shopping here during slow hours vs. peak times.

I have been a Glendale resident for 45 years. As you can imagine, I have seen my share of Middle Eastern markets. Nova has to be, hands down, one of the cleanest, nicest, organized and diverse markets I have come across. The selection is so vast and I can always find new middle eastern items I didn't know I was missing in my life until discovering them here. I used to go to a market at the corner of my house, but since I discovered NOVA, I have been making the trek to the other side of Glendale to shop here. How I discovered NOVA was through an event I attended which NOVA had catered. The food is SO fresh, SO delicious; unlike any other middle eastern food I've tasted in the area and out of the area. I don't typically shop here, but on the one occasion I did, I purchased two of the ready-to-go salads. Unfortunately, I found half of a ladybug in one of them. I either accidentally ate the other half or hoping it's still in there somewhere. It appeared that the greens may not have been thoroughly washed, which is likely how it ended up there. I was quite disgusted and threw the salad away immediately. I understand that occasional issues can happen, so I called the store simply to inform them and suggest being more careful with product handling. However, the person I spoke with completely denied that something like this could ever occur. That response was disappointing. Overall, this ended up being a one-and-done experience for me, and it's not a store I plan to shop at again. read more

I have always driven by this market and didn't have the time to check it out. I stopped by today and I am very pleased. Very warm welcoming store. (Please do not change) The place is amazingly CLEAN and ORGANIZED! The produce looked very neatly organized and fresh. I bought the chicken salad which was AMAZINGLY delicious! Beats all the other chicken salads out there! I also bought an eggplant salad which was also AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS! I cannot imagine this market having "old" salad or not fresh. Seems as if there are some haters hating on this market. A store that looks like that will not have "old" appetizers. I will most definitely call Nova Market for my next catering needs. I have been going to this market since it opened. Love the corner location which makes it easy to pick up quick purchases. Am always amazed at how friendly and welcoming the staff is when I enter...makes me feel like family! They are a full service market, complete with deli and meat counter. They're made kobabs are delicious, but be careful because the ladies that put in how many pounds you got put in extra without you knowing so you get charged extra amount of pounds so they can get more money off of you. In Armenian they will say "oh yours is exactly 9 this time", just too fool you. Be aware of your purchases as far as how much they've charged you. Happened to me three times before. read more
