We (my sister and I) are new to the Rockford area and Nova Nail Bar was recommended by a friend who used to live here. Today is our second time here and I cannot say enough good things about this salon. It is one of the cleanest salons we've been in. All of the staff are polite and listen to what you want to have done. The pedicure chairs are unique. They don't massage you like other chairs, but they are quite comfortable. This nail salon is beautiful, clean, the staff are friendly and everything is organized and chic. Tina did a regular pedi and no chip manicure for my nails for my Wedding this past weekend and did an amazing job! I felt comfortable and confident my nails would look great going to Nova and I highly recommend this nail salon! TODAY WAS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE AND I'M NEVER GOING BACK AT Nova! Nova nails was my top favorite salon until today. I'm a new mom and I'm sure all moms can agree that we barely get time to ourselves and when we do we try to enjoy as much as possible. So was I trying to enjoy my pedicure at Nova after months but BB (owner's sister) ruined my day. She kicked me out in the middle of my pedicure because I asked her for nail paint and she refused. She stated "you did not make the appointment and you are forcing the service on us" I was very surprised to hear that and along with that she said "if you don't stop we are gonna ask you to leave" which got me so mad. How are you going to tell your customer to leave in the middle of her pedicure and i started shouting so she turn the water off and told the lady to stop doing my pedicure. Now as a mom you tell me how would that make me feel? I felt so disrespected and stupid to even come to their salon. My sister in law was with me and she took me to the salon she usually goes it's called "Jovi nails". I loved their service and pedicure was so relaxing. I would not recommend anyone going to Nova unless you want to be treated like you are getting free service and they don't appreciate your presence there! read more

I went here in a crunch after another local salon cancelled my appointment. I went based on reviews. I recently moved to the area (well an hour west of Rockford) from the Chicago suburbs. I had an amazing nail lady for several years up until I moved (very sad). To say the least my expectations may be a little high thanks to her. Ehtha did my nails & she was very sweet. She did a pretty good job on my dip manicure. It's only the 2nd day so hopefully they last. What I did not like about this place was the cleanliness. Other reviewers said it was clean but it was not. The counter was dirty. They do not seem to wipe up after previous customers. Bathroom horribly dirty. They also do not seem to use new tools on each customer which is a big concern. The owner came in while I was getting my manicure to discuss closing early due to weather. She didn't bat an eye at the way the salon looked. Seemed normal to her. I would come back in a pinch but unfortunately I will still be looking for my regular salon. One more thing to note is their pedicure chairs do not have massagers. Something I enjoy when I get a pedicure so if I came here for that I would be really disappointed. read more

Pleasant intended atmosphere. Very clean. Polite staff. I wanted dip nails with fake tip which was stated while making appointment. I was fine when they said no fake tip after I arrived, although confused. I've had dip nails many many times. I don't think this lady knew what she was doing or she just chose to finish with gel and omit the dip top coat. Spoiler not what I wanted. I stated at least four times dip nails. I've never had to make sure the entire process was actually dip nails before getting them. First she tried to do the gel color and just a clear coat dip after. I may have even been open to this process however I have an important party in a week and would prefer to have the longer lasting dip product that I came in AND PAID for. Nova Nail Bar is so overpriced for the product quality I received. My nails chipped after just 3 days after a "no chip" manicure! The cost is roughly $15 to $20 higher than other salons I have been to in the area for manicure and pedicure! Lastly, the nail tech was not courteous or polite at all! She made several rude comments & the manager didn't even apologize, just took my money! No thank you! I can think of better ways to spend my money. Plenty of nail techs out there. You're not so special Nova! read more

So this place has a great atmosphere, but that's about all I have to say. I called for a dip and the guy asked if I wanted a dip no chip I said no, just a dip. Then when I got there I checked in and he goes "dip no chip"... again.. no just a dip. So the woman starts doing my nails and goes, I don't trim cuticles just so you know.. oh ok... so then from the get go starts complaining about how she doesn't like doing dip powder because there are too many steps. She complained literally the whole time she was doing my nails so that was frustrating, but the most frustrating part was how she filed my nails down so far that I thought the were going to bleed. It was painful and is still painful. My nails were filed down to my nail bed. Finally, she told me she was going to do a no chip top coat because that was quicker and easier than the dip top coat. They then charged me 42 dollars which was no chip dip..... I'd go get a dip elsewhere. read more

I was so impressed with my first visit. They got me in right away after another nail salon did an awful job on my nails. The salon was clean and spacious. I was offered water right when I arrived. One of the techs had their daughter there who looked like she was maybe 7 and she was sitting and talking to the daughter of another customer the whole time. It was so nice to see her engaging with customers too, I've been in places where children of the owners just cause a disturbance, not here, great job!! You have won a customer for life and I will be back!!! read more

Excellent no chip manicure. They use a 2-step bonder that made my nails stronger and much more chip resistant. Two-weeks tomorrow and not even a hint of a chip or lift. read more
