This bakery is authentic to Italian desserts. We ordered their slab cake which was beautifully decorated for our engagement party and adapted to our theme. The cake portion was delicious as well as the sweet buttercream icing inside. The fondant was thicker than I am used to. We had many compliments which was worth the high price of the cake. This is my go to place for desserts and gelato and I am absolutely in heaven when I come here. Desserts: Lots of to pick from. I usually get a variety of the mini desserts, each for only $1.50 each. There is tiramisu, carrot cake, cannoli, brownies and chocolate mousse cake, just to name a few. There are also larger desserts that are reasonably priced as well such as tarts and other cakes, including Italian wedding cake. You could also order full size cakes in advance. Gelato: Love the gelato here. There are so many flavours to pick from and you could tell the quality of ingredients that goes into the gelato. My favourites are pistachio and hazelnut but they have a bunch of other flavours too. For $4.50, you could pick up to 3 flavours in a cup. There is also a smaller size priced at $3.00. Hot Food: They also serve pasta and veal sandwiches. While these were OK, I think it is the desserts that makes this place stand out. Freezer Section: I have never purchased anything from the freezer section but there seems to be a lot of selection. You could buy gelato by the tub or frozen lasagna and meatballs, which is always a nice option to have. They also have a points card. Hours are a bit limited, as they close early but it is most definitely worth the trip! read more

We visited this bakery when shopping for our wedding cake in 2009. Staff wasn't very professional (couldn't describe their products in a pleasant and knowledgable way), they wouldn't offer a tasting until after you paid and it felt wrong ordering a wedding cake at a place that also makes exotic cakes. I LOVE Novello! Especially their gelato. So far, I've had the mango which was good, but a little too sweet for my taste. The second flavour I've had is the hazelnut which is absolutely delicious, I would high recommend. The pistachio was pretty good but I'd stick to the hazelnut. Ordered a white chocolate raspberry mousse cake and came with a layer of mousse as thin as a piece of paper. It should not be called a MOUSSE CAKE; it can be ONLY called a sponge cake with little mousse filling! Even a small mousse pastry has more mousse than this 8 inches "mousse cake". The "sponge cake" is not even tasty. Extremely poor customer service and deliberately rips customers off. It is Not worth the price, better buy a cake in costco instead. I went to this bakery for my shower and wedding cakes. They make an amazing Italian cake called SFOGLIA! It's one of my favourite cakes and this bakery makes the best sfoglia I have ever had...ever!!! Both cakes I ordered were fresh and delicious! I have referred many friends to this bakery who have ordered and been pleased with their cakes. The baker is Uber friendly and knowledgeable. Great value for an unforgettable desert. do not come to this place. VERY rude service. I am here to wait for my car being fixed. In the morning, only 1 hour after I sat down, they literately told me, "you cannot just sit here for the whole day and just have a bottle of water."I shaked my head with explanation: " I was planning to sit here and have lunch here first and a couple of snack in the afternoon." Then the person said: " well, as long as you are going to share the seat." And i had ordered two bowl of their pasta for lunch. Every time a customer is approaching, I pull my stuff away, was scared that maybe someone would like to take a seat. In the afternoon, a lady come in and willing to sit down for lunch. At that time there was extra table too. But the lady(boss) just came over and pull out my cord without any consent! And at the end, the lady boss even said: "sorry this is a bakery. no place should allow people to sit for over 3 hours." I said "I don't mind to share, every customer pull over, I would pull my stuff little by little. but if you need to unplug my cord, at least you should ask my consent." you know what the lady boss said?"This is MY Store. That is MY plug. did you ask MY consent to plug?" Then the guy works inside said:" If you are here to wait for your car being fixed, go back to your fricking car place to wait!" Then I got kicked out. man! You open the place, you provide places for people to sit, you offered the WiFi, then whatever happens should be your business cost right? If you don't want people to sit for over three hours, then put a sign! The boss said" I don't need to put a sign up, I opened for 20 years, it is common sense! What do you do for living?" What do I do for my living, is that your business? and more importantly, if I am those type of people--- don't buy anything, just sit down and enjoy the chill, you may kick me out. but NO! I have been to the store since two years ago. every time I would come here to wait for my car being fixed. every time I would spend 15-25 dollars, on food, snack, desert, water! equivalent to almost 6 hours for 3-4 orders! So never ever go to this place again if you have to fix your car nearby! One star? I want to give no star! read more

We have been coming to Novello for various sweet treats for years. Their cakes are to die for...our favourites are any of the sfoglia options, chocolate torta, and strawberry torta. Their pastries are amazing...love how fresh and delicious the cannolis are! Customer service is horrible, I was shopping for a wedding cake and was asked to sit for 40 minutes past our appointment time. Once we decided on a cake we were denied the option to taste any flavors. Of course we left and went to another cake shop for the wedding cake. Maybe they think they don't need new clients so they feel they can take new clients for granted, but following my experience I've turned about 10 families away from them. I have been ordering my daughter's Birthday cakes from Novello's for the past 7 years. I noticed the taste and quality was becoming progressively worst each year but the prices were going up. I stopped ordering at all because they screwed up the last orders for her cake two years in a row. The first error was the wrong colour and the second time they did not finish off the base of the cake with the beading I requested. It was a 2 tier cake and without the beading at each base, the cake looked incomplete. read more
