    Brie Burger

Novelty Burger and Bar is right near the Prudential Center in downtown Newark. Stopped in for lunch today. Sat at the bar. I was immediately greeted in a very friendly manner. I started out with a Gingerale. To my delightful surprise, crushed ice instead of regular cubes were in my soda. Crushed ice in my drink brought back memories of how soda used to be served! Next, I checked out the menu. The menu had quite a variety of burgers. The brie burger really caught my attention. Of course, I ordered it. The burger came exactly cooked "medium" as requested. Tasty Toppings were Brie cheese, bacon and onions. I think it could've used a little bit more brie cheese. However, one can never have enough brie cheese!!! Anyway, the Brioche bun was nice and fresh. I did receive a side of french fries. The fries were pretty good but could've been a little warmer. Service throughout my meal was very good. I really enjoyed my lunch experience at Novelty Burger and Bar. Would definitely return!!!

3.5 It's a solid spot but nothing spectacular. Quick service which was important to us before a Devils game at Prudential Center. They have 5 beer bucket for $20 which was nice. Burgers were flavorful but cooking temp was not medium rare as requested. The patty was somewhere between thin and thick, neither a smash burger nor some juicy. Toppings were good but overall for $18 I expected a bit more. Staff was friendly and accommodating but they were out of napkins and ketchup on basically all the tables near us.

Burger was a normal, no fuss burger...the novelty sauce (on the side) made it extra tasty. Ordered takeout, and it came with a lot of fries!! My only complaint was the cole slaw. Probably the worst cole slaw I've ever had. Paid $1.50 for it... meh, I'll live. The restaurants are all linked together: Novelty Burger with Mercato Tomato Pie, and Noodle Shop. When I went in to pick up my order, I was sent to Mercato. Interesting. Doesn't really change my life in anyway, but interesting, nonetheless.

Angie is a new bartender and she is GREAT!! Her martinis are more than on point. In addition she brings customer service to a new level here. I hope she never leaves!!!

I have been to these burger spot twice. The first time was terrible, they had just opened and the wait staff did not seem to be trained at all. Everyone was running around looking confused, and we waited over half an hour for our food (and we were on our lunch break). The staff did not even seem to care. The owner, did, however, apologize to us. On top of that, when the order did finally come in, they gave some of us the wrong orders (they gave beef burgers to a vegetarian!). The burger itself was actually quite delicious (i got the devils burger) and juicy. However, make sure you get the double and not the single, as the single is not enough to fill you up. The second time I came back, the service had improved significantly. We did not have any of the issues that we had from the first time, and I really respect that they were able to quickly correct their operation and get to a professional level. I'll be back here, as I really enjoyed the food!

Famished shit was so good I had to stop eating it

This is a cute and yummy spot in downtown Newark near the Prudential Center. We had the mozzarella sticks, Brie Burger, and California Burger. The mozzarella sticks were thick and juicy. The fries were nice and crisp. Both burgers were cooked to the appropriate temperature. Overall, it was yummy! My only complaint is that they didn't have waitresses and so we had to wait a while for drink refills because we were served by the bartenders. Also, the music was too loud.

Came here with a few friends. It was packed the day we were here and the service was a bit slow due to an event that was taking place in the area so everyone was in here to grab a bite. Our waitress was very nice but didn't get out order correctly. My friend's burger wasn't what she ordered and was missing half of her fillings. I myself ordered cheese fries but never received them. The food itself was alright. Nothing too special. The price is a bit up there for what you get. I'm not sure if I would come here again...maybe for drinks or something small.

Brie single burger with all the way fries

Came here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and it's pretty empty. Typical for Newark. First impression upon walking in was how spacious and how nicely decorated the place is. There's a nice big bar with broadway lights style decorations, and diner style high tables. There are more regular tables in the back too. Menu has a good selection of burgers, fries, drinks, and alcoholic drinks. You can also order Mercato's menu from here, which is super convenient. Mercato's has great pizza too by the way. I ordered a Brie burger with all the way fries and my boyfriend ordered a novelty double burger. I didn't notice that burgers came with fries and when I tried to order an extra all the way fries the waiter told me he'd just upgrade my fries so it's cheaper. Great service. Someone on here commented that the single burger is small, but it definitely isn't. And I'm not a small portioned eater. The burger would be 3.5 stars, it's a tad overcooked, and the patty was not seasoned much. I personally prefer a well seasoned patty. But overall, with all the other condiments, it was a very tasty burger. The all the way fries were amazing! Definitely a must order. They have a few flat screen tvs that played shows and ESPN, so this would be a great place to watch sports while grabbing drinks at the bar. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place as a spot to hang out after work, before games at Prudential, or just when you want a burger!

Solid choice when near the Prudential Center. Great selection of beers on tap and the burgers on the menu are cooked with a sear that bring extra flavor. Just try to order it medium to medium rare otherwise it can come out on the overcooked side...

I immediately stopped on the Vietnamese restaurant with almost a perfect rating at 4.9 stars and 500+ reviews. I'm equally excited, and skeptical. NY/NJ residents aren't the easiest to win over. I walked maybe 6 min to the restaurant. It was a nice sized store front with a well lit dining room, and self and full service kiosk. I was immediately greeted by the staff, I chose to do self serve. Even with that, I still felt very welcomed and engaged once I placed my order. All the items were displayed, and looked fresh. The staff carefully put together a teriyaki salad bowl, and pho for me in about 10 minutes. Once I got the food to my hotel room, I was genuinely impressed. The Pho was so rich in flavor, without being too salty. The noodles were the perfect texture. 10/10. A few hours later after the gym I cracked open the salad bowl. This was referred to me by the staff vs the lemon grass chicken. I am glad I listened, the amount of tender juicy chicken is impressive. The crispy lettuce, and robust tomatoes were a great combination of healthy, and hearty. Bahn & Bo deserves the accolades it's earned, and the one I made up at the beginning. Pro tip: The prices are so good, and so are the portion sizes. If you are looking for fresher, lighter, healthier, skip the Chipotle and Qdobas around the corner, and come here.

Basic seating with nothing fancy. A full jar of fresh pickles is on the table. The pastrami is second to none. Seriously. You get a generous portion of pastrami on rye. Greasy, fatty, just perfect! The onion rings are the best. They are famous for a reason. I go a few times a month so, I'm always greeted by name and promptly seated. The food always arrives shortly after the order is taken.

Luckily I found Hobby's Delicatessen via Find Me Gluten Free and was so glad to find that they do legitimate gluten-free options with a dedicated fryer and prep space to prevent cross contamination. I had the gluten-free pastrami wrap with fries for $23.95 and my husband had the #5 pastrami and corned beef with coleslaw and Russian dressing for $25.95. he also got the drip coffee with free refills for $3.25. Service was amazing. Owner's came out and chatted with us and preemptively made sure that I was aware that my food was safe for me to consume. Our waitress was incredibly personable and sweet. There were free pickles on the table. I'm not even a pickle person but I had three because again, I've been dying for vegetables after being in Europe. Great portions, safe celiac options, personable service, refillable drinks and no charge to use the toilets (although I didn't need to use them during this visit) This is what makes American restaurants great and Hobby's ticks all of those boxes.
