Novo coffee is an old-time Colorado coffee shop that has been around for quite a while with 3 locations now. I visited the location off of Glenarm and in between 16th and 17th. It is a smaller location which makes sense given the location being in central downtown but they have a decent amount of seating and they are quick. I almost always order a matcha latte when I visit coffee shops so did the exact same thing when visiting here. They do source their own matcha and it is good but I wish they used a bit more of it in their matcha latte. I tasted predominantly just milk as opposed to the nice, bitter matcha flavor. They did do a good job of getting my sweetness level right. I asked for light ice but got quite a bit of ice. No big deal. The internet speed here is fast enough for most peoples' workflows. If you are looking for really fast speeds for large meetings, heavy computation work, working with large files, etc. the speed may not be adequate. Novo Coffee became my early morning caffeine fix and afternoon break spot while I was in town for a conference. They offer coffee, espresso-based drinks, teas, and matcha as well as some pastries. I tried their oatmilk lattes twice which was warm and comforting in the cooler mornings as well as a chocolate orange scone and chocolate croissant which were good. For the afternoon, I tried one of their specials the Tokyo Fog which was earl grey iced tea topped with matcha cold foam - this was so refreshing, light, and delicious. Came here with my husband to get some warming drinks in the colder weather as it was right near our hotel, and it was alright. This location is cozy indoors with a communal table in the center and folks working on laptops. Decor is what you'd typically expect of a coffee shop, and the place seems pretty tidy. Workers were also friendly. They were out of their one vegan pastry item, so I just got the Pear-adise Hot Cider, and it was a bit on the sour side for what I was expecting. The barista used a torch to blacken a little cube of I think it was pineapple on a toothpick, and I am not sure the effort of doing that was worth it for the drink, LOL, because it didn't impart anything flavor-wise other than a slight burnt smell from the toothpick. Husband got an iced coffee (he is more cold-resistant than I am), and he thought that was good. Overall, a good coffee shop, and I appreciate that they have a vegan food option (and I think supposedly can also make many of their drinks vegan), but nothing particularly out of the ordinary. read more

Wanted to get matcha on my day off during my work trip to Denver and went to NOVO cuz it's closest to my hotel. I agree with what other people have said. The person was not really friendly. Maybe they were iust having a bad day? They asked if I am paying with credit or debit card, and I didn't really hear the first time. The way they asked me again was kinda mean and also gave me an annoying look. The matcha was okay! It became watery after a few sips but wasn't the worst I have tried! Had to wait for a while to be served, this place is clearly popular. But, I will say the wait was worth it! I tried one of their summer specials, the banana pie coffee and it was FANTASTIC! It tats exactly like banana pudding. I also liked that there was plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors for customers. I wish I was in town longer so I could try more of their menu. 10/10 highly recommend getting your caffeine fix here! read more

Yummmmm. In town visiting and had some time to kill before a bus arrived at my stop. Wandered around to find some local coffee to avoid the green buck monster and I'm so so happy I stumbled upon Novo! The ambiance is modern industrial with clean lines and cement floors. There is both some seating inside and outside. The staff was friendly and I appreciate their inclusivity in their signage. No bigots allowed here. Now all of those pieces are nice but the coffee and pastries were so so good. I opted for a hot almond milk latte with their homemade salted caramel flavor. It was perfectly balanced, not too sweet, the hint of salt. Sooo smooth and yummy! Also had their almond croissant which was only huge in size but also huge in flavor. So pleased. I had just finished my business at the Denver Convention Center and desperately needed a coffee after my 3am start that day. I had an iced Americano, which was great. I like that they have milks available by the lids and straws, so I can do it myself. Staff were very friendly and nice. My drink came out very fast. Wanted to stop into a local coffee shop while in the downtown Denver area. Popped in on a Friday morning so not that busy. Service was friendly but a little slow that day. I just ordered a latte with maple bourbon syrup and had their giant cookie. The cookie was good especially warmed up. The latte was good but not the best I have had and the long wait for it didn't help for it to be a tad underwhelming. However, I still give it a 4 because over the coffee was pretty good and the cookie was very good. They also have items to go including their own ground coffee for those that want it to go. This place was a less than 5 minute walk from my hotel in downtown Denver! My regular hot salted caramel latte with oat Malik came out to about $8 which seems a little pricey but considering the syrups are house made and the milk alternative, it was solid. I don't know what it is about a new coffee place that makes me indecisive. Especially with the simple straight forward menu at this place. I ordered a dirty oat milk chai latte with vanilla syrup. With chai orders I try and guess whether they are using a concentrate or a tea bag to make it. If I think a tea bag I add the vanilla syrup to sweeten. The barista thankfully questioned the syrup add and informed me the chai was already sweet and she was right. I briefly prepped for a 2pm meeting while there. Although it's a small shop with a consistent flow of customers and music playing I was still able to concentrate. So it would make a decent remote work option if you were already planning to be in the area. Although I must say I didn't access the WiFi while there. read more

We went for a quick coffee before hitting the road and the Cortado I received was just ok. My cousins hot cocoa was lacking flavor and sweetness. He had to get sugar packs to sweeten it up. You can sit at the bar, tables or outside when the weather is nice and people watch as its a half block from 16th street. If you are looking for a quick service and are in a hurry, this is not the place. The lines at Novo are usually long and it takes a good amount of time to get to the front. On this particular occasion, the staff didn't seem all that friendly. Maybe it was a bad day for the person running the cashier. I was looking for treat and an afternoon pick me up so I popped into Novo. I order the almond croissant off of someone's recommendation and a lemon scone. The food was not that good. The croissant was crisp, but I am a traditionalist when it comes to almond croissants and this one was heavy on the filing with a modern twist. Not an auspicious start. 10 minutes, orders have resumed, but still slow going. 18 minutes now, just received coffee order. They apparently had just experienced a rush of some sort on this otherwise quiet Saturday morning. I have no idea if the slow service is typical or not. Stumbled upon this via Yelp, of course. Novo Coffee is a small quant coffee shop, that offer several baked goods, breakfast burritos, coffee, lattes, and cortados. I ordered the latter, along with a breakfast sandwich. They both really hit the spot. Ambiance is non-Starbucks, which I like. No blaring music, and enough chairs and tables and community seats to make this place feel warm, welcoming, and delightful. The brown butter chocolate chip cookie looked so good! My boyfriend ordered the chai and I got a matcha sweetened. To be honest I wasn't really a fan of the matcha, it tasted really watered down and flavorless. You could definitely tell it wasn't ceremonial grade matcha. Novo, No-Go! I waited 5 minutes for a coffee that was overpriced and tasted like watered down cherrios. I used to work as a Anthropod specialist back in the day at a childrens musem, used to handle Cockroaches and a bunch of other insects, when handling cockroaches you start to develop a allergy to them. Any touches mean a reaction to me now, even when ones been on my pillow a day earlier id know. After drinking this coffee my lips became itchy and mouth irritated as it usually does drinking a pre-ground coffee from big brands, so you can put the magnets together if you must. Music playin in the place was nice though, some unsavory racist music playing through the aux, so nice one! I got it iced with almond milk. I thought it was pretty good! Not overly sweet, nicely balanced. Not sure if I really tasted the flavor of the fig, it was quite subtle. Initial tastes are bright and fruity which quickly evolve into a heavier than expected body with some bitter chocolate and almost a bit of butter popcorn that then leads into a smooth finish. After taste as if I just ate a chocolate covered blueberry which is type of hot coffee I tend to gravitate towards. They certainly had some darker roasts available if one prefers. Beans simple in labeling but diverse in selection. I chose Ethiopian, hence preference for lighter bodied fruity coffees. I got a cortado with a pump of lavender while my other colleague got a caramel iced latte. Delicious! Prob one of the better tasting espressos I've had so far in Denver. The lavender was too much. Went here on a Saturday morning with my husband and sister. We were staying downtown so this location was very convenient. Coffee shop was cozy and good vibes. The second I walked in, I felt welcome. I'm not sure if it's because I got a plant-based milk, but you can see that the some matcha floating at the bottom of the drink.
