I did not expect the shaved ice to be this good here! Honestly I was just looking for something to cool off on a sunny day but god did this place hit the spot! The shaved ice was more of a ice cream creamy texture which was awesome for a person who can't stand crunchy ice like me. The flavors are plentiful so you can choose from lots. The store is small with limited seating so it wouldn't be my best choice but I mean you can't take shaved ice home with you so it goes with the package. read more

If you're craving some cold sweets, this place will win you over hands down. I've been here a couple times with groups of friends and we always split one of the large shaved ice cream plates. If you have never tried Nu's shaved ice cream, you need to make that a priority before this Houston heat goes away (if it ever does). The best way to describe it is a flaky ice cream concoction that melts in your mouth. As far as flavors, there is a wide variety to choose from, ranging from the typical vanilla & chocolate to the more exotic flavors like green tea and ube. Be adventurous! You can't go wrong. There are even more toppings to choose from, and the only one that we've decided we don't like is the mini flan cake; it's not as delectable as it sounds and there are options that better compliment the shaved ice cream. The tapioca & milk tea drinks seemed above average at best, but if you're looking for something sweet to cool you down, you can't go wrong at Nu. Be warned if you go at peak hours like lunch and early afternoon; Nu is situated in a very popular plaza on Westheimer that gets packed very quickly. The actual seating area isn't very large either, so keep that in mind if you're trying to buy a plate of shaved ice cream if there aren't any seats; it's not the easiest thing to carry out and eat on the go. read more

Was good, the last place I had shaved ice like this was in LA. We had the strawberry with mochi and popping Boba. My three-year-old especially liked the Boba. Condensed milk was on top which added sweetness. It was a nice treat. My daughter got the strawberry tea with Boba, which was pretty good! read more

Went in after eating hot pot next door. We wanted a drink because we couldn't stomach anything else. Was recommended the matcha milk tea with boba and cream on top. It was like 5.35$. Was waiting a while and I saw the worker struggling with the cream so I told her it was okay. Didn't get my money back for the charge on cream. Matcha milk tea tastes more like green tea with honey. Matcha powder wasn't strong so I didn't taste it much. The drink wasn't good. I'm sure their shaved ice is rlly good though so 4 stars! read more

This place is cute. I always come in to get the milk tea with tapioca. The Shaved ice im totally not a fan of but only because it is soooooo sweet omg! But I asked for no sugar and they don't put all the extra sweet. They are very generous with the amount they give you though! They are pretty fast here. Friendly service also. Only thing i could say that i don't really care for is the smell when you walk in. It smells like sour milk and feet or something eeek. Not sure why but it always smells the same. Trying the strawberry splat! Layers of boba, pudding, strawberry drizzle and ice. It tasted like Captain Crunch cereal. It was interesting that the boba layer was warm. I also tried this at the Nu Cafe on Bellaire and they taste different. This location is more consistent with the flavoring. There were plenty of seating and service was quick. read more

This place has many different flavors (including durian!) Which is great. The space is clean and there is smile parking available. They also have shaved ice, which is really popular. However, as a huge bubble tea drinker, I found their bubble tea a little watered down and not as flavorful. Perhaps their shaved ice would be better, since this is what I see most customers getting. My husband and I shared the special combo #1 with vanilla ice, strawberries, Oreos, drizzled with condensed milk and chocolate syrup. The regular size was plenty for us. A solid 3- nit great but not bad. The young kid behind the counter was nice but seriously lacked communication skills. I asked the difference between a milk tea and Thai tea and got some long repetitive description of how one is smoother on your stomach than the other??? (Not sure which one he was talking about. I just wanted to know flavor difference.) Also, probably one of my biggest complaints with boba tea drinks is that in my opinion they need to be super cold. This was mildly cool and I needed to wait a good 5-10 min for the ice to really chill it. I went with the Thai tea and it was overall good. Give it a try if your in the area. read more

Probably the best boba cafe in the galleria area. I'm now a regular and the staff recognizes me. (If you're a regular, pick up the Belly card and sign up. You can get free toppings, free boba drinks, etc. Belly check-ins only count by location.) This location doesn't offer food, only boba and shaved ice, but I have no complaints with that. You can pick 1 with the small and 2 with the large. Additional toppings cost extra. My favorite is probably the lychee flavor since it tastes like lychee and isn't overly sweet. I haven't had actual real shaved ice in six years after trying for the first time in Guangzhou. Between then and now, I've had pretty crappy/tasteless/illegitimate ones. After searching for great dessert places in Houston, my friends and I decided to give their shaved ice a shot since the pictures were appealing and we were in the mood for ice cream. We ordered the green tea hill (mountain was going to be a waste if we didn't like it) with grass jelly, lychee popping boba, mango, and condensed milk. The total only came out to $6 which is super cheap. The shaved ice was so flavorful and not watery (like I expected it to be). The mango was fresh with a few bruised pieces, but that didn't bother me. The lychee popping boba was one of the highlights and I highly recommend this to everybody. I usually don't like popping boba with anything, but the lychee flavor makes it so much more refreshing. The grass jelly was cut to the perfect size and was really good. The staff was very nice and explained how to order/customize our order. They were also very friendly when I asked if I had to pay for more condensed milk because by the time I got to the bottom of the shaved us, there was no condensed milk anymore and had to ask for more. It was free for extra, but that's also because the drizzles are free/unlimited as well. Overall, I was very impressed with this place. A hill can be split between four people. If I lived in Houston, this would definitely be a regular spot for me. read more

The owners are VERY nice! Stopped by here after eating hot pot next door - it was 20 min before closing and they already closed the doors and turned off the light but when they saw us looking in they helped us. I have been back once since. I love their version of shaved ice! I have tried taro and green tea and it is very tasty and looks super cool. Their fruits are also really fresh. The shaved ice is fluffy and has an ice cream like texture. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that I find it a little expensive for what you get. There are other shaved ice places that you get much more for less. I know it isn't the same concept with the flavored ice but I just think it's a bit pricey. read more
