Not true to his word. Dropped off a backpack which needed a zipper repaired and was qouted at $35. He told me to come back in one week. I call back a week and half later, and he claims no replacement zipper arrived yet, and to give it another week. I call back one week later, and he says still no replacement, and that he would be going to milwaukee over the weekend, and would hopefully figure out some sort of replacement while there and to call back in a week. Lo and behold, after nearly 4 weeks of "give me one more week", he still has yet to replace the zipper. Simply told him to forget about it and that I would be picking up the bag to go elsewhere. This shoe shop is ridiculous. He completely ruined my shoes, states that I was the problem for not explaining to him how to do his job. He got loud and stated I should have been more explanatory. Even if I wasn't as explanatory or detailed. You shouldn't take a job you are unfamiliar with working on. "How many people do you think wear shoes like this... oh you must live in a fantasy world... these shoes look like they belong in a play" so disrespectful so rude, so unprofessional, no unpleasant, not open to criticism. They were supposed to be finished 10 days and I called every single day since the due date and every day it was a new bs excuse. I should have listened to the rest of his customer who all left horrible reviews on the store, he was argumentative and completely unhelpful, wrong and unprofessional. Additionally I didn't say a word about the charge he wanted, I accepted it and said as long as they fixed them, I'm fine with the fee. I went back into the store twice to see how he can rectify the situation and stated he gave me a $30.00 discount (instead of the $1300.00 original quote) I told him it's not about the money, had I had an issue with the charge I wouldn't not left them to be fixed. It's not fair or acceptable for me to pay for horrible work. I will certainly be contacting the better business bureau to file a formal complaint against this establishment, he was loud and upset that they were so expensive that he said I lived in a different world, don't blame me for not living under a rock. The man knows what he is doing regarding adding a "shoe lift" aka an orthotic to the sole of the shoe for medical reasons, but you do require a prescription of course understandably. I have branched out to different shoe repairmen and I have found better results, but overall the man here gets the job done. Don't expect a warm "happy to hug you" customer service. This has to be the absolute worst experience I've ever had, for a simple fix. "Call us before you come" We were told within a week a zipper would be replaced. We called multiple times and were given the run around of when it would be done. It took nearly a month and a half to replace a zipper, or should I say... "The zippers only glued on, do you have any running around to do?" This was right from the guy working on the boot, as we were in the area and walked in and figured it would be done by now, he had only glued the zipper in place and never sewed it on! Not only was it not completed they could not find the boot at first and the lady at the counter had the worst attitude operating what looked to be a business, behind the piles of unorganized customers boots and jackets in front of the counter. When does a owner ask if the customer has any running around to do for the next hour because he didn't complete the work? Especially with a snotty attitude. I've ever heard a owner talk to his counter lady about a customer like they do as if we're not standing right in front of them and can't hear them. "We only accept cash" I understand this is a small business issue but in 2015 everyone is accepting any form of payment if they're a business with a storefront. I can almost guarantee if the IRS looked into this they would find unreported income. "Jerk. Sicko. Clown. Total Nut." If you notice when you walk in they have a list of tickets from past customers who at first you think never picked up there stuff, but then experience the NuWay experience and understand it's the lady behind the counter being a 10 year old. Also what's the point of a ticket if you can't find the item and the customer has to describe it for you? "We are not your closet" My closet would never look this way in a business that lays my bills, nor would I ever store customers property the way this business does, in piles. So thankful yes according to your ticket, this is not my closet and it never will be. "Stay far far away from angry lady and old man." I would highly suggest avoiding NuWay as they don't know the difference from a Steve Madden, or a donkey's ass. The zipper replaced was cheap and not worth $30.00, as paying customers we wanted just to pay for it and get out with the shoe they've been holding, any proper business would of discounted the price or waived it for not being complete or taking so long. I get you want to get your shoe serviced/ cleaned and this might be the only spot for a few miles but this is not the place to go. Look at the reviews and go to another place. When I walked in that should've been my first inclination not to go here because it looks a hot mess! But I decided to get my shoes cleaned because he was the only place I could find nearby. I got my shoes "cleaned" here and they charged me $21 for this and when I came to pick up the shoes they LOOKED EXACTLY THE SAME! The owner told me that "some of the scratches won't be able to come out" not ALL of them! No exaggeration, my shoes look exactly the same. I wish i took a before picture but here's the after. Once I came back to pick up my shoes that's when he told me it's cash only, so I had to drive to the bank and get cash to pay him to get my shoes back. I was very very disappointed with this place. I had a pair a boots that had zippers that I broke so they were brand new never worn. I dropped my boots off Oct 14th and was just able to get them back today Nov. 17th. I was originally supposed to get them back Oct 20th but due to the slow pace of service I just got them back. Once I got them back in my possession I was pissed. These brand new $500 boots that cost me an additional 45 to repair look terrible. The workmanship is lazy raggedty and they should have been embarrassed to even give them back to me in this condition. To top it off they don't accept credit cards CASH ONLY, probably because everyone would dispute the charges based on their work and service. The shop is unorganzied and dirty. Not only did he replace my outer souls, he oiled them, and gave me a brand new laces. If there was a way for me to give a minus 5 stars rating I would. The guy who works there lost my wife's 2 pair of boots. When she dropped them off he said he needed a week. My wife came back a week later and he said he hadn't fixed them yet so he asked for another week and when we came back a week later he lost her boots. I had to call the police on this man in order to get my wife's boots back because he supposedly lost them. This guy is a scam artist and shouldn't be in business. I have thick calves, but I don't have cankles. So, when I found a nice boot to fit my calf, I took it in to have the shaft tapered to fit my ankle. Good work and at a decent price. HOWEVER, costumer service is MUCH to be desired. It took a week and a half longer to get my boot back than the date he quoted me. And when I called in to check on the status, his assistant or whoever the woman is that works with him was very rude over the phone and in person. I would go back if I needed to, because the work was done well. But if I can find a shop that does the same quality of work with better service, then that's where I'll take my business. read more

Mike, the owner, did an excellent job with my dress shoes at nearly half the price. The shop is located 25 mins from my house and the drive was well worth it. Turn around time was very reasonable. This repair shop is a mess. I have been going there for years but the newest owner is disorganized and I suspect criminal. Several of my shoes have disappeared. He has told me to come back at least 10 times because he can't find them and claims to be looking in a storage locker for them. I went there every week to 2 weeks for years because he had my luggage that he claimed he was trying to get a handle for-took almost 2 years. In the meantime he looses my other shoes and blames me for leaving them too long. That was never the case because not only was I present in the shop each week I never got a phone call to pick up my shoes or purse. I plan to file a case with the Better Business Bureau. read more

Although the work is really good they lose things. My daughter brought a pair of boots in there last December, it took them until April to finish and now they lost them. He keeps telling her he'll call but he never does, when she goes in he tells to come back Tuesday or come back Thursday, like she has all the time in the world to run back and forth to his store. This has beeen going on since December. In his defense he has cleaned up a few pair of her boots for free, but he won't admit that he no longer has her boots for whatever reason. She works very hard for her money and he is taking advantage of her. She is too nice and won't say anything but this is ridiculous! This was a terrible experience for me. I took a pair of original Air Jordans from 1996. I told the guy the that i was looking to have the shoes restored. He seemed a little arrogant but he told me that he could do the job. I left the shoes with him on January 30th., he told me they would be ready in five days. Five day later he tells me that he would need another couple of days. No problem, I thought, I am asking he to restore them to retail. Over the next four weeks every time I come in he tells me he needs more time, not wanting to cause a seen in the business I agree to return. The last time i go in ready to tell him just to return my shoes, he is appearing to be working on the shoes to give them back. I look at the shoes, and he in fact had done "NOTHING" to the shoes, and still requested me to pay.
