    Crab Louie

I was there last week and had the best Crab Louie I have ever eaten. Everything was perfect from the avocado to the asparagus. The vinaigrette dressing can't be beat. Is the recipe available?

Environment is lovely- all open sliding doors on the walls so you have panoramic views of the resort and golf course. Food is absolutely delicious- and has options for everyone. Price is not too bad compared to other restaurants on the island. A salad with a full piece of fish is $26. Portions are good- will fill you up and leave you feeling like you got your money's worth. Cocktails are tastefully designed and decorated. The wait staff is kind, nice, patient and accommodating. A perfect lunch spot, maybe dinner if you're looking for a low key dinner. Not the most fancy of decor so not the place perfect for post-golf attire

Came here for lunch after a round of golf at Hapuna Beach Golf Course. Saw the great yelp reviews so decided to give it a try. We walked right in and seated within minutes. They have removed a few entrees from their previous menu unfortunately. Our waitress was great and really kind. She brought us this hollow bread with a side of butter to start with. I really didn't like it too much personally . But great to taste as an experience. My husband ended up ordering a burger. I got the corn beef sandwich with a side ceasar salad. It was pretty good. The atmosphere was pleasant with big open windows and fans on for circulation. Overall, we had a nice lunch.

Probably my favorite restaurant at the Mona Kea Beach Hotel. I wish we had discovered it earlier in the week during our stay so we could have eaten there more! We did eat there twice and I loved my Stir Fried Saimin so much I got it twice-I didn't know what it was initially-it is a Hawaiian dish (we love authentic ethnic food)-soy sesame oyster sauce, char siu (barbecued pork), bean sprouts, kamaboko (fish cake), egg and fried wonton. The first time I ordered it I ordered the extra shrimp because I didn't realize it already had pork and fish cake in it so I got a lot of food. It really was so delicious! Oh to start they gave everyone gigantic popovers-yum! Other items ordered were the BLT, Reuben sandwich, fish tacos (my friend didn't like them-she liked them better at the Hau tree}, and a Poke and rice that was super good. There was a waitress that worked there that was so so sweet and had the nicest smile-she took great care of us! Her name was Isabella. Oh this restaurant is next to the Golf Pro Shop and you can sit outside or in.

Great coconut mojitos! My wife loved the shrimp Louie salad. Best one she has had. My Ono fish tacos were really good. Bacchi ball outside. Service was good and friendly too.

We went here for lunch almost every day. It is delicious, priced fairly and just awesome. We loved the Cajun Hawaiian Salad - way more filling than we thought it was going to be. We had it for lunch multiple times after we decided to give it a try. Also great: the poke & rice, and the fish tacos. Friendly staff, great open air seating, no need for reservations. There is also a cornhole set and ladder golf set that people can use. We liked to play a bit, with our drinks, before lunch. Everyone was fine with that. It's a great, chill place to eat. It was never crowded and always delicious. There are also complimentary pop-overs with delicious butter! Just wonderful. :)

Great service. Very laid back. Easy to get a Table. Comfortable. Cooler than the Hau Tree. Nice break from all the screaming kids on the beach. Padded chairs. View of the golf course. Our favorite restaurant at the Mauna Kea. Too bad only open for lunch. Hawaiian Salad is good. Try with Tempura Mahi instead of Blackened. Much better. Also loved the Chopped Salad. So good. And don't miss the complimentary Popovers !

After 15 years of staying at Mauna Kea I can't believe we never tried Number 3. I guess it's because we always felt like it was a golf thing but it's not. The food is legit here. The view of the golf course is nice too. They served herbed popovers with butter but I feel they needed to be a bit more salty than they were. Either that or take out the herbs and serve them with strawberry butter. Yum. Anyway besides that everything else was perfect. I had the seafood slider trio that was delicious and served with fries. The Fritto Misto was delicious along with my husband's salad. I highly suggest you try this place out for lunch. It's such a nice atmosphere being there near the green. Surprisingly enough there was a bocce court and corn hole behind the restaurant that I didn't even know existed.

The burger is only available as a combo for about $25, the fish tacos were $36, fries are $7 (and unfortunately not very memorable), and the restaurant adds a 7.5% service fee before prompting for an additional gratuity. By the time everything is totaled up, what looks like a casual lunch turns into a very expensive meal. If you're looking for a splurge, the food is fine. If you're expecting a laid-back burger-and-taco spot with reasonable prices, you may experience some sticker shock. I'd happily come back for the food if the value proposition were better, but next time I'd probably look elsewhere for lunch.

Kabob was our main with hummus for the appetizers. We ended up not ordering enough for the main because I think when I'm sitting down you can't tell I'm 6'8" 220lbs and they advertise their meals as shareable. If you eat a lot, the kabobs aren't shareable. Pay attention at the desert layout; we decided to go with the unhealthy route which was to top off with some sweets instead of ordering more mains . The frozen milk cake for me was it even though they pushed the pavolova as the one. The smores is pretty average tasting s'mores but definitely a luxury version so I'd never say don't get it, I'd just say it's obtainable elseware if you're trying to decide on a space you might not visit again. I am so happy that my husband & I got to experience this restaurant while in Hawai'i. For starters, we ordered their special lobster salad (with lobster, mango, avocado, and pickled hearts of palm) and their mushroom side dish. For entrees, we ordered the spicy lobster ravioli and their mushroom side curried macadamia nut fish (swordfish). Each bite was a little taste of fishy heaven for both dishes. I haven't done a review in a while but I felt like one was due for this restaurant…read more I just want to say we have been to a lot of restaurants on the big island and some multiple times including the newly opened marlin bar. Consistency was key here and everything was on point. Service was excellent, food came out quick and hot, fresh and delicious. The prices were reasonable especially for the quality of food. We went to napua for the 2nd time and it was not as good. They raised their prices again so 62 for a plate of fish (mahi mahi with rice and green beans) and it was dry and lacking in flavor. Just for 3 of us it came to almost 200.00 you just pay for the ambience at that restaurant. We went to lava lava beach club and the prices went up and the food was terrible. Again your paying for the ambience their but there the pork was fatty, fish sandwich tasted like canned tuna and the pork sandwich idk it tasted like the smell of throw up. Ceviche was horrible and paid 30 dollars for a tiny tostada with some shrimp and fish that was super super fishy. This was the best place so far besides pono Hawaiian deli (poke spot best poke ever!!) or getting your own fish at the farmers market in Waimea I wanted to add this to highlight this particular restaurant. We ate here 4 times (3 dining and once to go) and all the times it was so good. We got the island waygu burger it was cooked perfect and seasoned well, we ordered the coconut shrimp this was delicious, we ordered fish and chips (lightly breaded not overly oily or fried it was light airy and crispy), we ordered the corn dip and this was surprisingly refreshing with their homemade chips, order the hot chicken sandwich and wow this was lightly panko breaded and it was not overly hot and spicy everything paired well with it, also got the regular waygu burger and it was again cooked perfect and exploded with flavor. Finally tonight came back on our last night and I ordered the kona kampachi, wow wow wow it was cooked to perfection (finally a restaurant that can cook fish correctly and not over cook it) the miso butter worked perfectly and the portion was huge!! And only for 36 dollars like com on. My wife got the mahi mahi fish tacos and that was delicious with the lime cream sauce. All the nights we went there never broke 100 dollars and that says something in Hawaii and it literally beats every other restaurant so far for the price, ambience and quality of food.
