A great spot, bar none. Fresh sandwiches with fantastic ingredients. There is a limited selection on deck, but what they do have is a special combination of flavours that make for some sumptuous meals. Top them off with some superior soda selections; they're here too. I've had the BLT and meatloaf sandwiches here. Both were great. They had flavours unlike each other and I'm sure the rest of the selection is the same. The bread is distinct and tastes like it was made the same day. This is certainly a component that sets this apart from other sandwich shops. Make sure you pay attention when ordering though, as these are not subtle flavours! The restaurant itself is small and has limited seating. However, this allows for some intimacy and coziness. Just don't bring the baseball team and things will be fine, although you certainly might want to if you want them to feel rewarded! read more

If you're going to be good at anything passion for what you are doing is the number one driver for anyone to have success abd be called a master. no matter what industry or service this must be Number 1 and Number E has just that. Number E does it right. I came in this morning for a breakfast sandwich as soon as they opened the doors at 10 a.m. There wasn't a breakfast sandwich on menu so the owner suggested to get a BLT and add an egg. Done! In between his sandwich making I asked him what the shops name meant.. He gavr me a very simple story "I knew this older man that ran a restaurant that I frequented and this man only had letters to order the food on his menu. English was not so good, the food was and yet he found a way to serve the people with the food he'd love to serve the people with that's what you get at Number E." Great sandwiches and great people that love what they're doing and they put their passion into the sandwich. We as patrons surely get rewarded here. He handed my sandwich and left me with these words, "it's going get messy. Let gravity do it's work." On to the sandwich: the bun is very soft, sprinkled with Himalayan rock salt. The vegetables were deliciously sauced up (I am not usually a fan of veggies) and are good. The egg fits perfectly in the sandwich bun and the rest of the ingredients is perfectly and meticulously layered in the sandwich. Lastly but one of the most important component the egg (add-on) which perfectly is cooked and just oozes once you bite into it. Amazing till the last bite read more

The service was totally friendly and awesome even for a to-go order. Awesome bread. Nice folks. Flavorful fillings. I had the meatloaf which was tender and juicy. The only thing I would say is it seemed a spice in either the sauce or meat was a bit much. * Silly * Seriously, a hashtag for the name of a restaurant? "#e" Really? Silly. Um, that ain't gonna work so well for online searching/website names/etc. Seriously. But I guess they figured that out already since their website spells out their name as "numefood." So you can get num with "efood" there, get "nu me" food, or just be confused. Kinda silly. They have a limited menu including open-faced Reuben, meatloaf sandwich, baked BLT, and roasted veggie salads. I ordered the Reuben. It was described as: Heritage Black Angus Smoked Beef, Sauerkraut, Truffle Mustard, and Swiss. It was prepared fresh and brought out on a tray covered by a thin paper, and served with eco-friendly disposable fork and knife. The bread had a good crust, and dense chew and was pleasantly toasted. The sauerkraut was a bit too wet though unfortunately and made the centre of the bread turn into mush. Kinda silly. The thin paper under the wet bread turned into a bit of a shredfest while cutting through the crust though - which got to be a bit silly. They need to serve a sandwich that needs cutting on plating that does not get shredded when cutting with the eco-friendly knive. Silly. I didn't detect any truffle in the mustard - but there were a lot of strong flavours, so that isn't all that surprising. The Swiss cheese was properly melted. The beef seemed like it could have been really good, but unfortunately when eating it was rather rubbery and chewy. I'm guessing the method of heating everything up didn't do justice to what was likely very good product before being prepared for serving. I had the impression that they may have pre-sliced and then heated it after being sliced which turned it rubbery. Really too bad as the spicing was pleasant. It would be nice if they were able to steam the meat and then fresh slice it right before serving. That may help. But it felt like kind of a silly exercise in attempting to make a gourmet sandwich but not quite getting there. This is a very good place that you wouldn't suspect on the first look. The bread is home made, and as good as what you get in a french bakery. The recipes for the sandwiches are italian inspired and well balanced in taste and simplicity. Plus the americano coffee I got was actually delicious, and I usually don't like americanos... This place was recommended by the bike shop just steps away. The bike guy told us, "you won't forget the bread," as it's all homemade. We went to grab a quick bite before biking around town. Thoroughly impressed by the awesome amounts of flavor coming out of such a tiny little place. It was a place that you really wouldn't stumble upon since it sits in a sea of other small eateries, so I was glad someone told us to stop and take notice of #E. well yesterday I stayed home sick, and cooking was the last thing I could imagine doing. lightbulb moment: nume e downstairs! Sweet! So I got the take away split pea soup. I had it for lunch yesterday and today and it is the JAM! A little bit spicy, a little bit smokey, but hearty and homey and fantastic. Been to this place a couple of times because it's right under our building and very convenient. I believe the place opened up not too long ago. I ordered the spicy lemon rosemary chicken sandwich. I have to say, that was one of the best and cleanest sandwiches I have ever eaten. The flavoring was excellent with a kick from their house-made pickled jalapenos. They serve fresh and healthy lean meat with no ill regrets afterwards. If only I had more time in Vancouver! If you want favors come here. We had the spicy rosemary chicken sandwich and the BLT. The spicy rosemary chicken had a jalapeño and avocado and a tangy dressing on the mix lettuce. The sandwich had spicy, tangy, bit savory all in one! The BLT was very tasty with perfect slices of ripe tomato and not the hardly ripened type that we all know about. The food is good! A great spot for a quick lunch. All of their sandwiches are fantastic, and their soups hearty and filling. Though $9 for a meatloaf sandwich or $6 for a soup may seem spendy, the portions are huge--often enough for dinner, as well. I haven't had anything from here I haven't enjoyed, though the meatloaf or veggie sandwich and potato-leek soup stand out as favourites. I also love their Hibiscus Green Tea.
