Malek Zoubi Tealogist He has been a tea master for the past 9 years.

Two weeks ago I was going to Trader Joe's which is next door and saw there was a new store that opened up. I'm so glad I came into Tea Canal. Right when you walk in it's so inviting and calming. With light music in the background and tasteful decor of pictures of different teas and a full screen tv showing how matcha tea is made and served. As I walked in my eyes couldn't help but go from left to right with all the tea samples to the merchandise of iron tea kettles to matcha sets. I was warmly greeted by Malek tealogist and he asked if there's a particular tea I was looking for or would like to try some. They had over 7-8 teas to sample. And what I loved about it there was a description on the tea and it's health benefits. Im not going to lie I tried all of them. I know you will when you visit them. With that saying you know I'm already in love with this place. Not because of all the samples but it was educational. Malek has 9 years of knowledge in tea. His grandfather was a Dr and herbalist which got him to have the interest and passion for what he does now. His staff is also knowledgeable with the guidance of Malek Tea Master which made my experience a memorable one. They take pride in what they do. This is not any ordinary tea store. Where they push everything and anything. But they LISTEN and want to make sure you are buying the right tea. No pressure at Tea Canal they want to make sure you are happy with what you are getting and most important where it comes from and the benefits of the tea. As I mentioned they have all types of merchandise which are viewable by the pics I added. They also have sweets from cookies, tarts, brownie and other goodies. I was going to post a pic but it didn't get that far since I ate the whole thing . I hope all of you stop in at Tea Canal and welcome them to Glen Ellyn and try their selection of teas and sweets. FYI they have some sofas for you and friends to enjoy a nice afternoon catching up as you sip on tea. All teas at Tea Canal are in it's natural form. No additives as in color dyes, sprayed with perfumes etc. Side note did you know the teas that are bagged individually are the broken tea leaves. Which gives a more bitter taste. Only purchase Loose leaf tea and be sure it's from Tea Canal. Tell them Trixie sent ya :)

Tea is really good and perfectly steeped (they use a timer). Relaxing atmosphere. A nice chill spot to unwind.

Great variety of teas, each better than the ones I thought I loved. The allergy tea was flavorful and soothing. Knowledgeable people.

Loved the place and the employees. I learned son in more than I ever thought I could about tea. Best teas blends I've tasted.

Ask the Community - Nuovo Tea

Is it just a store or do they serve tea here? a place to study?

Both. It's a small place, but they have tea service.

Review Highlights - Nuovo Tea

Not only is the tea exceptional but Malek really sold it to me (not in a pushy way).

Blackberry Market is one of my favorite lunch spots. It's also a great place to grab a coffee and…read moredo some work. They have a decently sized seating area, and in the warmer months, there's a patio to sit outside. It can get a bit loud inside during the weekends and peak hours, so not ideal if you prefer quieter environments to do work. I absolutely love their brownies, especially their blackberry brownie, but they were out the day I went so I got the red velvet cupcake instead and it was perfectly moist and soft. You truly can't go wrong with any of their bakery items. I also got the pesto pasta salad, which I highly recommend.

I had the pick two, which was a half a sandwich (grilled cheese) with a half salad (kale Caesar). The salad was so good! Fresh, crisp and lightly dressed. However, the grilled cheese was pretty sad. I opened it up and there was hardly any cheese. It was just like eating two pieces of grilled bread. They need to improve on that for sure. I also had their 12oz wildflower latte which was very tasty, but served lukewarm and not hot. If the milk is not steamed, it will bring down the temperature of the coffee. I like my specialty coffees served hot. I do have to say every staff member we came in contact with was friendly. They seemed happy and were there to help and answer questions. You place your order at the counter, and you receive a number which you display at your table. There are two dining areas with tables and a few booths to dine at next to where you place your order. Members of the staff bring your order to the table. We didn't have to wait long for our drinks and food. Even with the sad grilled cheese sandwich which was disappointing and the lukewarm latte, I would definitely go back to Blackberry Market again to try other items on their menu. I'll pass on the grilled cheese, though.

When I approached the counter no one acknowledged me so I said hi and an employee said hello back but didn't offer to take my order, so I assumed I needed to order at the tablet which is located before the seating and counter area. While placing my order, multiple people walked past me and ordered at the counter, so that was a little confusing. Those people were eating inside, though, so I thought maybe you need to use the tablet for take-out and order at the counter for eating in. To be honest, I'm still not sure. I assume if a person approaches the counter the employee should do more than just say hello and keep working, especially when I had to say it first, so that was a bit off-putting. I had perused their menu before my trip and wanted to try the breakfast pizza but when I saw it in person it looked old and dry so I decided to try the rice crispy treat instead. Well, it was so hard I had to microwave it when I got home just to be able to eat it. While it didn't taste stale, I don't think you should serve a rock hard rice crispy to someone and ask $4.50 to boot. All that said, the iced latte I ordered was exceptionally good, so I kept that in mind for the future. A few days ago I went back and ordered the same exact latte (via their app this time), just in a larger size. It tasted nothing like the one in January. Not only that, but after taking a sip and inquiring about getting some packets of sugar, I was told there were some around the corner from the counter. All I saw was fake sugar in packets and Sugar In The Raw in an open container with a spoon. Maybe I missed where the regular sugar was, I don't know. The whole area felt really disorganized and dirty which was a turn-off. For what they charge I expect fresher food and a consistent drink experience. I want to support small businesses but this place makes that hard. I won't be back.

They also had a few Christmas tea pots for sale. One was so cute I could not resist and bought my daughter an extra Christmas gift. The owner/chef came out to talk to us for just a few minutes. She explained that this was their 24th year! Amazing. She also stated that she travels and often the recipes she makes for the tea house are inspired by these trips. But, I am reviewing the Lombard location. The selection was good and fresh, although some of their items are a bit pricey. I ordered cake pops, brownies, and a chocolate chip cookie. The sales person was pleasant and quick. This store is their biggest store, and they feed the Winfield and Schaumburg stores. They make their pastries at this location, so you'll probably get the freshest selection at the Lombard location. I had bought a gift card from Costco for Sweet Reserve. I admit if I hadn't bought it, and received a discount at Costco for it, I probably would not have noticed the store. It's in a small strip mall on Roosevelt road which has hundreds of strip malls off the road. The store itself is clean and well kept. It does have a limited selection of products but they were all pretty good. The brownies are very frudgey, just the way I like them. The cake pops are sweet, but a little dry. The cookie has a lot of chips in them. Overall, I liked the place.

Close at 10pm but if you need longer later hours a 1am tea shop is about a quarter mile down the road with good options also. Parking lot with plenty of parking. My highlight is that they have booths. Plenty of tables and seating. Good menu options for lattes, iced, hot, espresso, etc. Reasonable priced and they have 20oz coffee. The service was nice as the girl was kind but she didn't seem to understand me well and she didn't know if the coffee was Turkish or not. Therefore, I ordered an Americano with their homemade pistachio sauce. It was a nice beverage. I also ordered a Turkish bread with ground beef. It too was delicious, hot and fresh. The ambiance is inviting. The pastries and mini to small cake options were quite beautiful. The nose level was very quiet until little ones came in. Still tolerable but if you are studying and it's busy don't forget your headphones. Lol. I studied for about 3 hours and I would definitely return again.
