My sister suggested Blackberry Market in Glen Ellyn for lunch. They have a great selection on their menu for both breakfast and lunch, and they also have ready-to-go items in a refrigerated case. I had the pick two, which was a half a sandwich (grilled cheese) with a half salad (kale Caesar). The salad was so good! Fresh, crisp and lightly dressed. However, the grilled cheese was pretty sad. I opened it up and there was hardly any cheese. It was just like eating two pieces of grilled bread. They need to improve on that for sure. I also had their 12oz wildflower latte which was very tasty, but served lukewarm and not hot. If the milk is not steamed, it will bring down the temperature of the coffee. I like my specialty coffees served hot. I do have to say every staff member we came in contact with was friendly. They seemed happy and were there to help and answer questions. This market/cafe had pre-made food items and baked goods for sale as well as made to order food. The inside was clean and fresh with seating available inside or outside in the front and back. We were given a number to place on our table after we ordered. I had a caprese panini and a chocolate chip cookie. I sat outside in the back where it was warm, sunny, and peaceful. The food was brought in less than 10 min. My sandwich was delicious. It was so flavorful and all the ingredients tasted fresh with that healthy farm to table feel. Uug, I could eat one of these every day. The chocolate chip cookie was really darn good. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great cc cookie. I'm so happy to have a local establishment that offers gluten-free items. The GF muffins are delicious, especially the raspberry lemon and chocolate chip. I appreciate that they are packed separately and come in a muffin cup that's a different color from regular muffins. For lunch there are a number of salads and sides that are clearly marked in the case as GF, Vegan, etc. The chicken salad is a favorite and the variety of salads is commendable. Bberry used to be amazing. Great food, generous portions, reasonable prices. In the last two years, they have increased prices while decreasing what you receive- for example, the farmhouse breakfast used to include potatoes and jam on the side. no potatoes (and sometimes no jam) now and it's $2 more. They also now include a 3.75% service charge on all transactions. And they keep charging me for regular milk if it's not a coffee drink. My small matcha tea was 4.75, then they added 0.60 for simple syrup and another .60 for regular milk. The barista asked me if I wanted it sweetened with milk and I said yes because matcha tea is disgusting without those items. I get so annoyed with these hidden costs. Just list your actual prices on the menu! I kind of hate this place. read more

Went here yesterday (1/12/25) with a friend and had a very poor experience. When initially paying cash was quickly accused of bringing counterfeit money. Honestly, should have just left. Or if the store just cannot accommodate larger bills, that could have been said. Had to waste time going to the bank today to find out they were incorrect. Honestly, not sure why I did not question it further while there as the cash came from a Chase ATM. Went ahead and included an image of supposed "fake" and also an image off of Google of what an actual counterfeit would look like. It would have been great had the manager taken the additional step to verify prior to making accusations. Assuming they are taking a lot of actual fake money considering they accuse honest clients of fraud with genuine money. Definitely will not be back, which fine... only one family of lost business... But treating a client poorly and making accusations when just trying to support a local business sits poorly with me. My husband and I decided to try this place out since I read the cinnamon roll is delicious. We split the Farmhouse Breakfast with scrambled eggs, a cinnamon roll, and he got a coffee. What we didn't like: The 3.75% service charge for I assume paying with a credit card, or do they charge that to everyone? I hate these types of charges. Bake the cost into the food or something, because even though they are not a lot, they just bug me and make me less likely to visit an establishment that charges them. More details about the food: Unfortunately I had just made an apple cake with a cinnamon buttercream frosting at home that week, and the cinnamon roll tasted almost exactly the same, minus the apple, so I didn't enjoy it as much as I would have because I was burnt out on that flavor. But let me assure you, it was delicious, and it was pretty big too! The sweet potatoes in the breakfast platter weren't my favorite. I don't mind sweet potatoes, but not for breakfast. Note you will need to grab your own utensils, napkins, to go boxes, and water. I hope they start cleaning those more often. Although parents should try to clean them when they leave, it is also up to the restaurant to make sure the entire restaurant is clean. For my meal I had the farmhouse breakfast. It is two mini breakfast sandwiches on biscuits with egg and bacon. Jam is included on the side. It comes with potatoes but you can substitute fruit, the fruit was fresh and delicious. I like that it was a variety of fruit not just melon (cantaloupe, pineapple, strawberries, blackberries and grapes). The breakfast sandwich has either a scrambled egg or fried egg. I chose fried egg. It squirted yolk all over the floor and my arm when I took a bite into it. Although super messy, it was delicious. The jam was much needed and went great with the sandwich. So good!
