I just finished my workout at LA fitness which was right across the street so I saw THIRSTEA from afar and decided to go grab a drink. While I waited for my drink order, I decided to walk next door to check out the Nuristan Halal Food... It was empty when I walked in and I just saw possibly the owner or manager working there. They a barrier of SNACKS, Kitchen ware and groceries. They also had a kitchen so you can order some delicious foods as well... I was just looking for some PITA BREAD and HUMMUS... The PITA bread was good but, I was skeptical about trying the hummus from a can. I'm open minded to I will try it later... AMBIANCE: 8/10 The aisles were tight and it was cozy... Service is nice and helpful I had a lot of questions. Its a market and the serve food. Place is nice and clean. Aircondition is very nice hot outside. Got my cezve for making Turkish coffee. And lavash bread. Tried their free hot tea for everyone and was very good. Ordered some turkish coffee and nice and strong. Tried the Afghan burger Its like a cali burito and its not ground meat like a burger its a sausage and it has fries in it and hard boiled egg. It is ok wouldnt want get it again. We came here after a trip to Pala to pick up some ground chicken. It's a small and clean store and they do a great job making good use of all of the space. We were pretty hungry so we decided to get something to eat. This is where the magic happens for sure! We ordered chicken and beef with rice and salad. The salad dressing was so delicious. The chicken was good with nice flavoring but the star was the beef. My husband said it was so fresh and reminded him of the meats he would eat back home during Eid. We also ordered a potato bread which was like a tortilla but with potatoes and tomatoes and really good with just the right amount of mild spice. The best thing? They have spiced beans with garlic and onions that OMG with the rice??? Heaven. It ready is meant to be just a small side but we loved it so much we ordered a bigger container of it to take home with us. Who woulda thought the side dish ended up as the main character! I'll admit the man at the counter was not the most friendly person at first. He would answer questions quickly while not looking at you. But once we were there for a bit, he let his guard down some and was much nicer. I absolutely love this place. Their food is really good but what I love the most is all of the spices and seasonings they have. You shouldn't ever buy and spice or seasonings at regular grocery stores. You can come here and literally buy 10x for the same price as any grocery store and just refill your bottles for a very very long time. They also have a bakery here that makes the most fresh and amazing barbari bread - you'll start eating it on your way home -HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I have wanted to try this place for quite some time now, but the times I have tried going they are closed for some reason. My husband and I were in the shopping center and were excited to see they were open today! We entered and there was a man standing behind the food counter. My husband greeted him which a friendly hello, and the man just stared at us. We stood there looking at the menu all the while he just stared at us uncomfortably. After awkward silence, my husband and I looked at each other and agreed to leave. We told the man that we would be leaving and would have to come another time. He just stared at us and didn't say a single word. A smile, simple hello, or even a friendly nod goes a long way. The food and products may be very good here, but unfortunately we won't be finding out because based on the unfriendly experience we just had, we won't be returning. read more

Great and friendly staff. Tucked in a small business complex and inside is a halal grocery which has a few tables for those who choses to dine-in for their kebob plate offerings. Food had generous portions and can be shared. Great flavors. How I wish they offered lamb chops and lamb shank in their menu as those are my favorites. I just moved to Temecula last week from San Diego. I was in the area and accidentally found Nuristan Food - went inside to check it out and it made my day. I was so happy to find an Afghan market and with food to order! The owners and staff were very friendly and welcoming. I bought a large Turkish coffee pot and went back later to get some food for my family and I. I ordered a Chapli Kabob, Chicken Kabob and Bolani. My daughter is 2 and doesn't eat hot spiced food so I requested the bolani not to include that and he was able to accommodate. The food was ready in about 25 minutes. Friendly staff. The size of a corner lot liquor store. Has an eatery inside with delicious kubideh - one of the few places that serves chicken. Spoke to the cashier and she said to try the chicken pieces instead next time. She used to be a kubideh person but prefers the chicken pieces now. So must be good! The grocery store isn't too extensive but will have the necessities - spices, mixes, breads, and desserts. The layout makes everything easy to find - makes sense. Never had to use the restroom so can't speak to that. Location is tucked behind a more prominent street corner lot. But parking has never been an issue. Since Pamir closed down so long ago, this has turned into my preferred eatery for kubideh. All-in-all, been grocery shopping twice here and will continue to eat at the hot foods section. read more

It used to be a good place to order fresh bread! But they started to cut corners and mixing a day old bread with fresh bread and give it to customers! Last time I ordered 6 bread with sesame seeds and when I showed up get my bread I saw they adding seed to the old bread and trying to sell it to me . Every time without fail the owner/employees are rude and avoidant when trying to purchase items or ask questions. They have a kitchen as well where you can order food while you shop. Once I tried to order bolani to take with me, the cook in the back made eye contact with me and saw I was waiting to order and turned his back and walked away. I don't know what happened to this place or who's running it but shopping at this place will cost you an arm and a leg. It's very expensive. I understand that things are more expensive than before but there prices went up a 1000% , you go buy 3 items it cost you $60. The chips same brand same size, just a different flavor are 50 cents more, tried to buy some canned hummus, but couldn't find any, but they have there own home made hummus, I ordered some and they had olive oil on it. What an awesome little market. I got some hot, fresh bread that was about 5' long for only $2.50. It was absolutely amazing. Then, I picked up some ground chicken that was only $2.49 a pound to go with a kebob seasoning pack I saw and the whole family absolutely loved it. All I did was mix it with 1/3 cup water and the chicken and then seared it. Phenomenal. Can't wait to go back and try more new foods and seasonings. My first time dining in Nuristan food and I have to admit, they food is pretty good. I have tried their Bolani before because my mom has dined then few times. She always has good things to say about them. I had the opportunity to go on Sunday. I like my usual kofteh kabob and I absolutely love it. It was very tender and tasted amazing. I also tried their chicken kabob, I think it was okay for me. Bononi was good. I love their Chutney and Im waiting for them to see it in store so I can buy it. Its a bit spicy has vinegar taste to it. But it goes so well with the kabobs. The plates are pretty big and enough to share if youre not super hungry.
