I could tell he was a staight forward guy, (which I appreciate) and Blaine didn't make a big issue of everything to justify overcharging us. Darren came out to do the initial estimate & then after I got a couple more quotes, I called him with some questions & he offered to come out again to go over the estimate. So we decided to use Nurse Stucco since their price & more importantly, the good vibe we got from Darren, who is one of the owners. The entire Nurse Stucco crew was great - very good at what they do. Darren was up front & honest with his pricing. He said we didn't need to spend extra money on sandblasting since our original stucco job wasn't in bad shape; he suggested a good power-washing to prep the surface before the stucco job. I would love to give these guys 5 stars, and for most of their work at our home they would deserve it. But the drop to 2 is because of a statement Bernard King made in a hearing where the arbitrator awarded us nearly $6000 from Bernard King for his defective workmanship. (See Yelp reviews under his old company East County Handyman. He has since changed the name to Bernard King Construction). During our job Bernard King subbed the stucco work to Nurse Stucco. They did a good job but we found cracks and problems with a few transitions. Nurse quickly repaired the cracks and they still look great. But we had problems with transitions, mostly due to improper construction by Bernard King. Nurse fixed the transition but didn't match the color. Bernard King refused to fix it so I contact Darrin Nurse directly. He was pleasant but the attempts to fog coat still didn't work. I left it for Nurse to come back anytime to fix it but it never got done. At the Contractors State License Board hearing Bernard King testified that Nurse "is ready to fix the stucco" but was waiting to hear from me to get permission. That is a lie. I left it with Darrin Nurse to come at his convenience but Bernard King testified that Darrin Nurse was waiting for my permission. So our stucco patches still don't match the house color. All they had to do is come out and fog coat a color match. But I guess they just don't care about how a customers house looks after the job. read more

We wanted to get our wood exterior courtyard stucco'd. Blaine made an appointment and came out within a day to look the job over. The next day I was sent an estimate. Due to the reasonableness of the estimate we called a day or 2 later and accepted the proposal. Within 2 days they were out working on the courtyard. It took about 5 days to complete the process and we couldn't be happier. We were kept apprised about what was going on each step of the way. I called three other plastering companies and Nurse Stucco was the most responsive. My plumber had remove a 60 ft x 3 ft section of Stucco to repair some plumbing work. They tried for about six hours to install lath. I told them it was ok and I would hire someone else as it isn't their trade. Nurse Stucco was out the next day to install the lath and took about two hour to do. Amazing work! The next phase was to pass a City of San Diego inspection. The note left by the inspector said he was impressed with the work. I called back and they happened to have a plaster installer available to the same day. The work is really great quality and blends right in to the existing Stucco. Extremely friendly to work with, fast and efficient! My house is now whole again thanks to Nurse Stucco! read more

Darren & I got off to a rough start because he was so involved in projects he had going, which ended up being a good thing. Once he got on my project he guided me to make some good decisions on texture. He stayed in contact with me throughout the project and made sure his crew was doing exactly what was requested. His molding guy made the molding with the modifications I requested. Darren got me to insulate the walls before he did his work, which is great advice. You can really feel the temperature difference. MT Insulation did the work. The workmanship: I'm really!!! Really!!! happy with the end product. It's 100% better than what I had. The color is 100% exactly what I ordered and even. He did have to fog coat to even it out, which is highly recommended for dark colors. His crew came back to touch up very small areas around the windows & base where moisture created some variance. When Darren says, " I want to make sure you are 100% happy", he means it. He is very fair with things that come up such as change orders. I'm very pleased with his work. Had the pleasure of working with Blaine with some repairs with our home. Needed 2 bathroom windows installed but stucco was done incorrectly by previous owner. Quoted a price $75 less than another business which helped. We also needed some repair on our back wall due to adding a cement walkway. They worked closely with our artificial turf and cement guy to make sure all parties were on the same page. I wasnt home when it was done but when I got home, it was done perfectly. Turf/cement guys were happy and do were we. They even color matched other stucco work done to make it look even without even asking! It was a nice surprise!! I honestly thought it was going to super expensive but it wasnt as bad as i thought. I upgraded my electrical panel a week ago and had to get the stucco repaired around it. I called nurse stucco because of their BBB rating and the yelp reviews. The positive reviews are true. I received superb service and am amazed by the turnaround time. Blaine was my primary contact. He was very helpful. Most of our communication was done via email to send pics of the work that had to be done, to obtain price quotes, and schedule visits. He always responded quickly. The company is located in Lakeside, but don't get discouraged in contacting them if you live far away. I am in the Rancho Penasquitos area, and Blaine's team always arrived earlier than expected. Overall, the stucco repair looks great. I am not an expert, but my electrician stopped by this morning and said that it is high quality work. read more

It was very difficult to get an appointment (several phone calls, many left messages) and then they did not show up for the first appt I finally got. Getting a quote was also terribly difficult, not being delivered until after the work was performed. When they finally did show up, the work itself was perfect, but the work was done by someone who is not in charge of how their business is run. The workman was great, I suggest he go into business for himself. I was overcharged quite a bit (3X what is standard). They acted like our run of the mill patch job was a major ordeal, putting on theatrics about how hard and complex the job was. The job was simple and is exactly what they claim to do, repair stucco. There was nothing special about the area. The theatrics were very sleazy and they should be ashamed. Despite doing good work, I cannot recommend them and will not use them again. read more

This company is amazing. From the second their receptionist answered the phone I knew I wanted to have them do the work on our house we needed. They came out SAME DAY to give us a quote on the work. Blaine drove to our house at 6 pm to help us. He was so professional, kind and courteous. Their quote was incredibly competitive and prompt. I hired this company because my late father used them and the reviews were good. The prep guy Mario didn't finish the prep work and the guys doing the stucco had zero interest in taking the gutter downspouts off or removing screwed in wiring attached to the stucco on the application day. They just applied the stucco right over the brackets. They also got extremely sloppy at the end and made a mess of the pavers which had to be cleaned up twice. There was a tremendous lack of communication between Darren and the workers who showed up to do the job. After the stucco was complete, the entire house had to be fog coated due to the inconsistencies in the color that was applied. The reason given was too much water in the stucco. read more

Nurse Stucco did a fantastic job on re-stuccoing our home in September 2015. Darren came out to do the initial estimate, I had additional questions and called Darren, he offered to came out to go over the estimate again and discuss the job in more detail We already has one additional quote and decide to go with Nurse Stucco because of their price & more importantly, the good feeling from Darren. Darren knew I was working on the exterior trim myself and offered to put up the scaffolding to make the job easier, he worked with my schedule and allow me to finish both the trim and gutter work which was a real plus as working on the eves on a two story house is pretty scary for a DYI person. At the same time I was replacing the electrical panel and a garage door that also needed lath work again working with my schedule for these projects. The entire Nurse Stucco crew was great - very good at what they do. Darren was up front & honest with his pricing. As the house had never been painted Darren told us that the sandblasting was not necessary so it only needed crack reduction and patching. He worked with us in selecting a color for our house & offered me a great selection of samples to choose from. The end result is a house that looks brand new. If we could give Nurse Stucco ten stars we would. From the time Blaine Nurse (owned and partner with his brother in Nurse Stucco) gave us a bid (lowest of three) to the end of the job (2 days from demolition to complete repair) including 4 windows and 90 feet of damaged or missing weep screed and tar paper, the work was done with great skill-Lazarus performed the repair of the damaged areas and my husband and I cannot tell where the work ended. It was that seamless and beautifully color matched. Blaine said Lazarus is the best in the business and that certainly was our experience. If we had not seen the house opened up and stucco removed we might not have believed it! Lazarus also noted that one of our windows did not have flashing and had no tar paper and this was not expected. Mr. Nurse gave permission to repair this and did not charge us extra and told me he likes to stay with his estimate if he can. There also were two other men who were here Edgar and Byron and they were professional, friendly, clean and skilled as well. They were here to apply the cement. Paper was placed on our driveway and around our walkways to protect the yard from the cement and the men cleaned up very well after the job was done. I need to mention that our original stucco happened to be extra thick and this took extra materials to match it and again Mr. Nurse declined to charge extra for this. We told Mr. Nurse we considered his company to be a huge blessing and asked if he heard this comment often and he said that yes, he heard it quite often. They certainly are a wonderful and you will be very fortunate if you have this company do stucco work for you. Mr. Nurse and his brother learned this trade from their father who did this work and they have been doing this for 30 years. They have done commercial work and residential and are very experienced. I'm really glad I hired Nurse Stucco for my stucco repair job! The estimates were all over the place, with one contractor telling me just to patch the stucco for a few hundred bucks and another telling me to rip it all out for several thousand. The highest estimate was 15X the lowest estimate! Nurse came in at about the middle, half the highest estimate for the same work. Darren was very detail oriented and took a lot of notes on my job. He sent his team right away and they did an excellent job with repairs. They ended up ripping out most of the outside wall due to deteriorated paper and repaired it to match. They also touched up a bunch of related work on my fence and doors and windows. They even finished off the threshold under my front door! I trust their opinion and their work. They also provided a 25-year warranty and cleaned up nicely after the job! What's not to like? They are my go-to stucco company if I ever need this kind of work again. read more
