I needed Almond paste and found that nuts.com had it at a fairly reasonable price, but still very expensive. I put it in my cart and I noticed there was a link for 20% off and free shipping for orders over $59.00. Happy to see that, I clicked it and received a message that because my order was $59.99, I was in fact eligible for that offer! Happily, I moved forward to my cart where I saw that I did in fact get a cheaper price! YAY! I went on to shipping, expecting to see $0, but I was being charged for shipping. I felt there was something wrong so I went back to the original offer and resent it to the cart. Same result. I called the number on their website and talked to a not so kind representative. I explained that I had qualified for the 20% off and free shipping. He stated that because the 20% off brought my total below the $59, that I no longer qualified for free shipping! I tried to explain that the offer stated "20% off and free shipping for orders over $59.00 and nothing else". He just said to go back and add another product to bring the price back over the $59,00. Nuts.com keeps sending STALE products, latest was molded dried figs, after I asked for a refund they told me mold is natural and normal on figs and refused to refund the money. I am allergic to mold have been eating dried figs forever, never seen mold growth like this on figs (I sent them the pic of the mold), And yes I agree with them mold is natural but does not mean we should eat moldy products. HOWEVER I ordered their sugar-free carmel corn, and for two days our entire household has been sick with SEVERE intestinal distress. After years of shopping at Nuts, I ordered and received three packages of hazelnut flavored coffee that were basically favorless. I notified Nuts. They offered to refund two packages. I found that unacceptable. I paid for three, not two packages. All turned out to be unusable. A flurry of e-mails ensued with Nuts maintaining that its policy was to refund fifty percent. Again, if you pay for three items that turn out to be bad, it is my belief that the merchant should replace the three items with good quality one or issue a refund for all three. Nuts does not seem to care about customer loyalty anf if the coffee is they apparently do an example of how its policy works, quality is apparently uppermost on their list. This is a kiosk inside Newark Penn. It's on the McDonald's side of the station. It used to be one of those old-school carts, but has since been housed inside one of the metal kiosk cubes. It sells freshly popped popcorn and has various flavor powders that you can sprinkle on top. It also sells nuts and other dried snacks. Aside from being tasty, snacks are priced well. The lines here are always too long. In addition, they do NOT put enough seasoning/flavor. The workers literally put seasoning on the top of the bag and nothing else reaches the rest of the popcorn. If you've ever been through Newark Penn Station on a Friday night, you've probably had to swerve to avoid the extremely long lines for this food stand that pretty much just sells freshly-popped popcorn. They do have big plastic containers full of nut mixes and junk, but it's the popcorn whose smell wafts through the station and draws a crowd. I'm not an expert, but I do look for a few things. Was it fresh? Oh yes, they're making it continuously, so there's no time for staleness. Was it popped the old-fashioned way? You bet. The seasoning? ...was just salty enough for me, but they have extra available (though I didn't see any fake butter, if that's your thing.) This is the only place I can find fresh pine nuts for my cockatoo at a price better than the pet store that might occasionally have them. I ordered several different items all of which were thrown in the garbage. None of it was edible or as described on their website. Salted, roasted sunflower seeds were rancid and raw. Best Popcorn ever, I was a loyal customer, I have been coming here for years. My issue is the people that work there are unfriendly and very rude. One time the lady did not put enough butter on my popcorn and I had to eat it dry (waste of money). The next time I came to her I asked her if she could be more generous with the butter she glared at me and, "No I can put some butter on it thats it." The new guy that works there is very nice it is the females that are the problem (not all but that 1). I have overheard others complaining about their behavior as well.
