I still love that place! It's small but always a line inside so you know it's good. This time I went I told the customer in back of me that I am gluten free and she motioned to her son and said he was as well. I actually saw a few kids inside and I thought this is a good place to bring your child who may not one able to eat regular treats. I am vegan/gluten free and I chose a carrot cake truffle to eat then and I got two strawberry shortcake cupcakes for me and my friend. Later we ate them and they were good! This is a cute little spot that specializes in vegan and gluten-free sweet treats. Their gluten-free is made with garbanzo bean flour and they have regular goodies made with regular white flour. It was so tiny inside; literally only 2 customers could fit in the bakery at one time. But it was packed with all kinds of goodies from cupcakes, doughnuts, beautiful cakes, cookies and other delightful desserts. The prices were definitely not for the faint-hearted. I paid $9 for a doughnut and a coffee cake using easy contactless Apple Pay. The doughnut was moist, sweet and flavorful- definitely didn't taste gluten-free nor vegan- a positive attribute in any food item. While I was there, I asked about the sweetener they used to bake with and found out they bake with regular white sugar. I certainly would have preferred to find out they use lower glycemic alternatives or even healthier options like agave or coconut sugar. I heard about this place and I added it as a spot I had to try especially since it is vegan. I called in and asked general questions and they told me I have to go online and order and pay and pick up. I ordered the key lime pie and s'more cupcakes. It costed $8 in total. I went there and picked it up and I had to wait at the door and they passed me the cupcakes threw the door. When I got home I tried the s'mores cupcake and omg it was so good. I ordered a custom cake and provided a few pictures. I even said that the baker can use their own creativity if they wanted to all i got was plain cake with few gold spots sprayed on and edible pearls. I dropped by the Sweet Avenue Bake Shop to pick up some surprise treats for my favorite vegan. It's a really cute retro looking shop, reminds me of pinup posters. The woman working the counter was really nice, knowledgeable, and super excited about all the desserts they were selling. I ended up buying a smores cupcake, a chocolate chip cookie sandwich, a triple chocolate cookie sandwich, and a triple chocolate chip cookie. I ate the cookie right away. It had a waxy aftertaste. The cream in the sandwiches kept the cookie softer, and the sandwiches were much better overall. I picked this specific bake shop because one of my friends is vegan and we were celebrating my dogs birthday and we needed a cake for the humans. I love that all their cakes are vegan so I did not have to question or ask "is this vegan? is there milk or egg in this?" I ordered 3 cupcakes & a cake via online ordering about 3-4 days in advanced. I was able to pick up with no issues. We ordered the pink birthday, s'mores and dark side of the moon cupcakes & a carrot cake! My favorite was the s'mores and the carrot cake. I wish the carrot cake didn't have so much frosting/cream in it.. This bakery has immaculate COVID protocols. Now, as for the bakery itself, I went today for the first time. I was immediately struck by mouth water, the aromatic aroma of cinnamon, and what I imagine Angels smell like. So many flavors!!! I must go on a Friday for the creme brûlée and tiramisu! So how great are these cupcakes? It seems that the very well known non-vegan cupcake shops that make one or two vegan cupcakes are rocking it. Unfortunately they only make the basic flavors so coming here is a treat. There's so many choices and it's not your average vanilla and chocolate. So what should you order? My boyfriend got me one of each cupcake on the Saturday menu and my favorite was the lavender lemon. The cupcakes are not dry but not super moist either. It's better than your average joe because of the frosting and fillings. I love the fillings! Imagine different flavor vegan hostess cupcake. Am I hyping this up for you? If you want them to hold cupcakes for you, you have to book it a week in advance. I have to try those flavors! I wish dun well doughnuts did this. I have yet to try all their flavors. The homemade rice Krispy bar needed more marshmallow! Do not get the doughnut! It's horrible. I rather eat the gas station doughnut or entenmann's. I had the strawberry doughnut that had a neon pink frosting. So why was it horrible? Have you ever had a doughnut from the fake baking set? I haven't but I imagine it tastes like this. Pure sugar. Writing a review for a other vegan bakery got me I the mood for some cupcakes and I happen to be in the general vicinity of Rutherford. So, it was 100% logical to check out Sweet Avenue Bake Shop. I read in a couple reviews that staff here were rude. This was completely not the case, at all. If fact it was quite the opposite, the people that work there were over the top nice so I'm not sure what these Yelpers are talking about. The cupcakes are just downright yummy. I usually go for the seasonal ones. I've only eaten their cupcakes, but they do have a decent selection of cakes. I asked the person working there about birthday cakes and she told me that if I have any special requests to place them ahead of time. Also, they carry some gluten free cupcakes, which is good for people that have wheat allergies and love cupcakes.
