Ja Seng in (Ap Gu Jeong) Seoul branch is a well known Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture clinic in Korea. I worked its right next building, that's how I got to discover Ja Seng Center. Well, as all other business grow bigger and earn more fame, I realize I can't refer to my favorite doctor, server, owner or etc. whom I had a good experience with no more, due to higher volume of customers the business needs to deal with, there fore, my favorite specific person can't be always available for me. Although, Ja Seng is famous in Korea, it now became just a name, I have to gamble wether I find my new favorite acupuncturist at this location or not. My mother had a few treatments here, she had bruises on her forehead, and on hand after acupuncture treatments. I don't think it makes sense if it is common for older people to get bruised after an acupuncture treatment. Has anyone heard of??? Another thing that threw me off was the ice pack. So my mother had a bruise and bleeding after a treatment, she was given a small ice pack wrapped in a totally worn off fabric which seemed pretty aged and not sanitized at all. She just wrapped it with a paper and used it briefly then I threw it away. I thought it was just meant to be disposed after a patient's use, but mother was asked if she returned it to them at her next visit...hm. I got a ton of ice packs from my hospital after delivering my baby, I was directed to dispose it after each use to prevent any kind of possible infection or so. The whole time, in my dictionary, ice packs should be individually wrapped and disposed after a use. Lastly, if you are a receptionist and answer a call at a clinic, what would you do first if a patient wants to make an appointment? wouldn't you ask him/her if one is a returnee, then name and birthdate to find their record? Why does the receptionist keep asking me specific details other than asking my birthdate??? is she trying to help me from getting an Alzheimer? The location to me can't be any better, and the acupuncturist is very understanding and quite friendly. I've had chiropractic treatments before, (can't recall his name), he was very good and understanding as well. The receptionist wasn't always getting on my nerve, maybe she just had a horrible day when I called. Overall, I will likely come back if I needed any kind of pain to relieve, because of its great location, and friendly practitioners here. ***Just remember, when you receive an acupuncture treatment, don't trust the nurse removed all needles, always double, triple check if she did remove all needles, one of nurses forgot to remove two needles in my mother's head until she reminded her. Very dangerous. It would be great if acupuncturist, herself comes back to remove them as well, because she knows the best of what she did to her patients. read more

First time getting cracked like a pretzel. Was a little scary because I didn't know what to expect. It also felt very get in and get out type of process, but honestly I think it was because the first visit I was the last patient and they wanted to leave. I gave it a second shot and I now appreciate the "straight to the point" care. I had soooo much lower back pressure and pain after pinching my back and walking hunched over for three weeks. I am feeling so much better after doing acupuncture, cupping, and seeing the chiro. Just two visits do far and it's working wonders. After knitting, I got serious pain in my wrist. The pain kept me awake at night and sometimes I couldn't even hold my phone. I thought it would be gone soon and I bought pain killing patches and wrist braces to try to treat the pain by myself. However, it was just a waste of time and money. My pain was getting worse. I found Irvine Jaseng center through Yelp. I had heard that Korea Jaseng has a very good reputation for pain relief. All staff and doctors are so kind. I called many times to ask questions, and they always answered sincerely. Also, they checked my insurance ahead of visiting. I filled out the form about my symptoms, and base on that Dr. Lena counseled in detail. After that, we moved to the treatment room. I lied down on the bed. There are bed heating system and blanket. Thanks to those, I didn't feel cold though I wore patient gown. I've never experienced these kind of treatments including cupping and acupuncture, so that I was nervous. I was very worried about cupping marks and needle pain. However, it turned out to be unnecessary. There were no remaining marks or pain during the whole treatment, and my symptoms (pain in shoulder, wrist) are dramatically relieved after a few sessions of treatment. I received various treatments like acupuncture, cupping, and taping etc.. All these treatment made pains to be gone. This is one of the most efficient hospitals I've ever been to. They are so quick to tend to all of their patients, and I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes. One time, the hospital was so full but they still took the time to make another room open for me. They also have timers by each room's door so a patient never has to wait too long. I find it hard to believe that there are only two doctors here because they seem to be really present with all of their patients, even when it gets really busy! Dr. Sean Kim is also one of my favorite doctors. He's knowledgeable, funny, and it's evident that he cares about each patient. I got chiropractic treatments for my back and my chest area twice a week for about three weeks now, and he always asks me about certain things I told him about during the session before. I'm sure he's really busy, but the fact that he remembers minute details about me and my treatment is pretty impressive. He also knows what he's talking about. I've experienced improvements with my chest muscle pains, and I've definitely learned a lot about how my body works just from what he's shared with me. I really feel the desire and inclination to start taking care of my body. I used to come here often for my neck and shoulder injury. Both Dr. Lena and Dr. Kim are very knowledgeable when it comes with acupuncture and chiropractic treatment. First off, I'd like to acknowledge Dr. Lena because she always asks how I'm feeling and is quick to diagnose the center of pain and soreness. In addition, she is sure to follow up on progress from previous visits. Dr. Kim also does very well with physical therapy. Though he is good at relieving tension in the joints and such, he doesn't spend as much time and usually performs the same routine. I see this as a minor flaw here at Jaseng. What you can expect here are treatments ranging from acupuncture all the way to treatments like electric stimulation and cupping therapy. Don't be afraid because it's not as bad as it sounds, I promise. I ended coming here more for acupuncture and electric stimulation instead of doing a combination of acupuncture and physical therapy. I always felt better for an hour after treatment but not in the long-term. Your muscles will feel much more relieved, that's a guarantee. 3.75 stars out of 5 from me. read more

Let me start off by saying that by far, this is the BEST acupuncture/chiropractic clinic I've ever visited! I have been suffering from a severe low back pain from being obese since I was young (I am 5'2'' 180lb, just FYI). I grew up visiting many acupuncture and chiropractic clinic, mostly recommended by friends and family, in an effort to relieve and treat my back but only was able to produce a temporary relief and not a lasting effect. Having seen my condition for many years, my family doctor suggested and recommended on multiple visit that I consider getting a surgery. But being a firm believer in alternative and natural medicine, I decided not give up and continue trying and I am very happy that I did! While searching for a hospital which specialize spinal disorders, I found this place Jaseng Center located in Irvine which was not too far from where I live. The office has BOTH Acupuncturist and Chiropractor and they specialize in non-surgical treatments for spinal disorders!! It was just what I was looking for! Dr. Lena Kim, the head Acupuncturist at Jaseng Irvine and Dr. Sean Kim the head Chiropractor work as a team to work out the magic! I was recommended that I get both the acupuncture and chiropractic done on the same visit, which I have been faithfully getting for the past four months. My pain level has significantly decreased since the start of treatment. It has decreased by a quarter by the fourth visit and MORE than HALF in the past three months of treatments. The quality of pain I feel on daily basis also has changed from constant severe sharp pain to more of a occasional dull moderate pain. I have been going to Jaseng for 3.5 years for injuries I sustained from military duty. It started with 2-3 times a week but now I continue to get treatment about once a month for maintenance. I have not seen the doctor yet so won't give the review about her but called in and asked for the availability as well as price/insurance information. Front desk girl was so so, not mean but not so helpful either. Told her I have insurance and the situation where I got some deductible and she told me to email her my info. Not sure how long would it takes for her to email me back but other places took my information and called right away for me, cause when you are in pain, you don't want to wait around. I also asked for the price, and it was expensive, she said $ 90.00 for the first-time visit and $ 150.00 for Chiropractor adjustment/Acupuncture treatment. Holy cow, I was expensive, the amount that they charge, the insurance for sure will not allow. She did not offer to wait for the bill to be submitted and then bill me later, like their other Fullerton location does ( and the front desk was really nice too), however there is some distance so I could not made it at the time. Had she offered for me to pay a standard amount upfront while wait for bill to be submitted, I would have come. Needless to say, I decided to looked up on Yelp and found another place nearby, whom the front desk was a charm and gave me such a good deal, got my treatment done with Chiropractor adjustment/ 2 needles acupuncture inserted for $40.00 out of the door, also applied the charged to my deductible as well. read more

Over the past 20 yrs, I've received various forms of treatments for my back and neck. Typcially I end up at places that just specialize in one form of treatment since that's usually what's out there. I've gone to places specializing in physical therapy, accupuncture, various massage techniques, cupping, chiropractor, etc. Generally, the treatments are helpful and I never expect single treatment miracles to heal me entirely. My issues are chronic based off historical injuries I never fully recovered from and all the traveling I do so I honestly don't know if I will ever feel 100% but treatments in various forms did help me get by. With Jaseng, there's a sense of comfort, convenience and efficiency to know that when I'm here I can get a variety of treatments all under one roof during one visit. I also feel like there are benefits to receiving multiple treatment types back to back immediately rather than spread out. Granted the order in which the treatment per visit is different, there isn't necessarily a downside to it. At the end, the key is when I get off the table to stand, there's a sense of relaxed comfort. My spine is aligned, my muscles are less tense, if I come in with a headache I generally leave without it, etc. The accupuncture portion helps relieve muscle tension and pain while the cupping helps with bloodflow, spasm relief and pent up lactic acid. The chiropractic portion uses electric muscle stimulation which I always enjoy and an ultrasound device that usually helps break down scar tissue all polished off with a bunch of pops and cracks to align the spine properly to round things out. All in all, with just a single visit, I always feel better when I leave than when I come in to begin with. My issues are long term chronic ones so it will certainly take a bit of time and effort to resolve, but I feel like Jaseng's treatments are helping me move towards the right direction for recovery which essentially gives me the hope of a full recovery some day. read more

I've been going to Jaseng about once a month for almost a year to do the physical therapy treatments from Dr. Kim. He is always very friendly and patient to listen to any problems I am feeling with my back/shoulders, and does his best to offer advice and help. The treatments are very consistent and the facility is very nice and clean. The other staff are always very welcoming and helpful as well. Recently, my shoulders and upper back were feeling extremely tense, and one of the staff named Angie offered to let try the cupping therapy to see if it would help. It definitely relieved a lot of my tension, along with the regular chiropractic treatment from Dr. Kim. I recommend anyone looking for back, shoulder, and/or neck relief to give Jaseng a try! I was playing basketball with my son and twisted my back the wrong way. Suddenly, I could hardly stand up. I suffered with intense pain for a couple of days, but I could hardly stand up straight. I had heard about Jaseng a few years ago via Brian Lee, who, at the time, had recently moved to the U.S. from Korea to help set up the Jaseng Center. Brian was always very passionate about what the Jaseng Center had to offer, and told me about the intense training that the doctors go through in Korea. After speaking to Brian about this, I had told myself I would give this a try if I ever had need. Well, this injury definitely provided me the opportunity. I went to the Irvine location with a fair amount of skepticism. I was asked to rate my pain on a scale of 1 - 10 (10 being worst). I rated my pain an 8. The doctor took me into her office and asked for a history of my injury and did a physical assessment. She determined the problem was a back spasm. She then took me into a treatment room and laid me on a massage table face down and hooked up an electrical device to my back in order to relax me. This device actually felt quite good (like a massage). She then returned after 10 minutes, and proceeded to insert the acupuncturist needles. I'm not sure how many she inserted (I think it was 6 - 8), I thought there would be more, but was OK with it being fewer since I have a pretty strong fear of needles. I didn't really feel the needles, as she had a way to physically distract you from feeling it by tapping on your back as she inserted the needles. She left the needles in my back for another 10 minutes. She returned to the room and turned me on my side and inserted a needle or 2 for a few moments. She then turned me on my back and proceeded to press hard on my stomach (I'm not sure if she used a needle on my stomach or not). This stomach portion of the treatment was the most uncomfortable portion of the visit, but it was also the last portion of the visit. When she was done, I stood up and much to my surprise I felt pain relief. I figured it would be temporary pain relief, but the pain stayed away. As of today, it has been 5 days since my treatment and I would give the pain rating a 1 or 2 (recall that I started out with pain that was an 8). I'm going back in today for a follow up, though I don't think I need it, but I had already set up a follow up visit. All I can say at this point is that I am a believer in Jaseng and in acupuncture. I would not hesitate to send a friend or family member to Jaseng for pain relief. read more
