    Samosas (Reheated in microwave)
    Henry M.

This is the deli inside the connection between LIRR Jamaica Station and the AirTrain to JFK. It's open 24 hours a day. I arrived late evening on a Sunday, so trains were few and far between. I had almost an hour to kill, so I figured I'd get a bite here. I went with the samosas because, when else am I going to find a samosa at a deli at 1am? They had a deal for two samosas and a 20oz bottle of soda for one set price. I forget what the price was exactly, but around $6. They had the option of potato or chicken, so I went with one of each. I guess I shouldn't have expected anything different, but the samosas were just put in the microwave to be reheated. Because of the microwave, the samosas came out soggy and greasy. The filling was also super hot in a way that only a microwave can do. The potato samosa was not like any samosa I've ever had before. The potatoes were in chunks and sort of hard. The flavor profile was not like a normal samosa. The chicken one was also pretty bland. I almost got a hot dog, but the ones rolling around looked like they had been rolling around for a long time. They have some cold sandwiches and some chips and energy bars as well. I don't think I'd buy anything from this stand again.

Steve's Deli & Grill - French Philly Cheesesteak

I stopped by Steve's Deli after work cause I was crazing a good chop cheese. I saw one review where…read morethey stated they had a good one at this deli. There are no options by where I work and this was not too far away from fresh meadows where I live. I must say 5 out of 5. It was perfectly made and bread was lightly toasted and it hit the spot !!! I hope that next time I crave a chop cheese it will be just as good as it was that day.

L was in the area so I told him to go try this place out. Only had one review so I was a bit…read morehesitant...I guess this place is new since the cook didn't even recognize the items on their own menu and had to check what was in it...so of course L got annoyed cuz I chose a sandwich they didn't recognize. HTF should I know that the people who work there have no clue what's on the menu. Yeah I chose the weird Philly cheesesteak sandwich. It sounded much better on paper than in reality. It didn't taste like a real Philly cheesesteak sandwich. It had a lot of mushrooms in it but the gravy sauce tasted weird and it barely had any cheese. He also ordered a halal gyro over rice. Not sure which protein... chicken probably... I really didn't care for it. It didn't taste like anything you'd expect from a halal place. The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh but the seasoning on the food was non-existent. Where are all the spices! Didn't taste cumin, coriander.. garlic, etc! So bland. No heat whatsoever from the sauces? It tasted more like creamy bbq sauce. Don't serve halal food for the sake of having variety on the menu. The texture of of the rice was a lil odd for me and it wasn't basmati rice. I'm giving it 3 stars cuz it really was just okay, if anything, I'm being a bit generous. I didn't feel like cooking lunch on a Friday but I could've easily made something tastier for less money.
