I called Nybakke's today to make an appointment for a tune-up that was supposed to be a part of the lifetime maintenance plan I paid extra for. I got the owner whom I hadn't had a good experience with years ago, and so wasn't really very surprised when he told me that the tune-up is now invalid because I hadn't brought it in every year to be worked on. Why pay for a plan with small print like that? I challenged him on his lack of ethics, and he hung up on me. He seems to be an pro at slight of hand. I say that because years ago when I was a young mother who didn't have a cent to my name, but desperately needed a vacuum, I went in to buy one that was advertised in the paper. But he wouldn't sell it to me, saying that it was too cheap and wouldn't last long, and then tried to sell me an expensive model that I couldn't possibly afford. Typical bait and switch. Don't be tempted to give your business to this man. He isn't honorable, and doesn't seem to care what his customers think once he has your money! read more

I needed a hose for my Shark Rotator vacuum, so i took it in for a replacement. The guy told me that Shark doesn't have replacement parts and they tell you to throw them away and get a new one since you can buy them somewhat cheap. He said that more expensive vacuums carry parts. He went on to say that every year that a football fields worth of vacuums are thrown in the landfill. It all seemed to me that he has given this speech before. I left and got on Amazon and instantly there was my part! Was he trying to get a sale? Did you know it's possible to love a vacuum shop? Hi, I'm Meghan, and I love this vacuum shop. This is my story. Well, first, Backstory: I owned a Dyson once and was never impressed with it. I'd have to roll over something several times to pick it up, and it just never lived up to its expectations. Then I got a relatively basic Bissel. It was relatively OK at first, but then I really grew to hate it. Cleaning out the canisters, peeling things away from the filter. It was a mess to use and worked only in the strictest sense of the term. Finally, about 3 weeks ago, I cleaned my house again and decided that was going to be the last time I ever used it. I was done. I began by crowdsourcing, and between my last two experiences and the passionate voices of those who had gone back to bags, I knew which direction I was headed. I browsed a few on Amazon, narrowed it down to a couple, and got busy with other things. Finally, the time came to vacuum again and I knew it was time to act. Luckily in the meantime I remembered that we have a local business that specializes in vacuums, so I held off on Amazon and went in and began a conversation: "Hi. I hate my vacuum." It was all uphill from there. I'm rarely one to buy something the first day I look, but the salesperson took a lot of time with me to help me understand the quality of the products they sell (which are, indeed, pricey), maintenance expectations, what all the parts did when comparing models, and their service plans. I left a little weary over how much I'd likely spend, and over the looming decision to buy two (canister for the wood floors -luckily a little less expensive and with a nice discount if buying in a bundle, and upright for the carpets and rug). I came back the next day ready to buy, but the salesperson (different one, just as great) took a ton of time with me again to confirm my understanding of the choices and teach me again about the parts, maintenance (where they play a big role, with free labor if you also purchase the service plan, which I strongly recommend), etc. I winced a little when I handed over the card, and then came home on a Friday evening with plans to go out shortly after. I did not go out. I was so excited about my new "toys" that I vacuumed the entire house instead. Let me repeat: I skipped a social engagement on a Friday night to vacuum. Just 2 days ago I hated vacuuming!! The quality was immediately apparent; I immediately knew it was worth it to pay more now for something that will last than to buy anther still-pricey bagless at a department or big box store and need to replace it in another 3-4 years. I cannot BELIEVE how clean my floors are after just one pass. These things are seriously a game changer. In the end, I liken the experience to buying a good quality bike at a local bike shop. The quality is chosen by people who know the business. The expertise is there to help you understand that quality and why it matters. The service and maintenance is there to keep you using the product for the next decade or more. And, of course, it's a local family business. Last perk: with the lifetime service plan, you get free rentals for the carpet cleaner machine. Those things you can rent at the grocery store? Also pretty crappy and heavy and hard to use. I already picked up my rental to take care of some spots on my carpet and rug and am amazed by the quality there, too. You'll need to buy the cleaning product, but knowing that I can reserve and check out this machine is alone worth the reasonable service plan. And of course it will only continue to pay off as they clean the vacuums annually and provide free labor on all maintenance. I'm really happy with my purchase and the service I've received. I dropped off my vacuum to get the cord replaced because my dog had chewed through it. I also wanted a new roller because we had bought it used and it was worn. I was told that it should take about a week. After a week, I had to call to see how things are were going. I was told they should be getting to it soon. The next day, I was called and told that my vacuum, a Dyson Animal, specifically made for pet hair on all services was not meant for carpet. It works wonderful on carpet. I love my vacuum and it has worked perfectly on carpet. I responded that I really didn't have any other options to use on the carpet (I have no idea what I was suppose to do with that knowledge other than buy a vacuum from them?) It took a total of 3 1/2 weeks for them to repair it. I had to borrow a vacuum serveral times from a friend. I have 2 small children and a dog, so it was difficult to arrange this. The cost was $30 more than they had originally quoted. I was told they would give me a call if it was over that amount, but I don't remember being told it was over, only that I was not suppose to use the vacuum on carpet. I love local businesses and want to support them. However, I was disappointed with the service I received as well as the higher price than what was originally quoted. read more

Got overcharged, was supposed to get a call if the vacuum needed more than just routine clean up- that didn't happen. When I went to pick it up, I was charged almost the price of the machine for the service! The vacuum works good now, but I would have preferred a call, before the works- I would have bought a new vacuum instead! read more

I take my vacuum in for service once a year and they never disappoint. I also take it when when vacuum isn't sounding right. They do a great job! My vacuum comes back brand new again. read more

These people are the so passionate about vacuums it's awesome. They know everything. They may not have alot of selection but what they have seems way better then the vacuums at other places. They even have a warranty one the vacuum I bought a while back that includes them doing check ups and cleaning the vacuum. I am so happy with my Riccar! read more
