We came to Moe (NYC A1) with a kitchen upgrade, new everything. This was our first NYC reno, and we learned a lot along the way. Moe was very kind and thoughtful and made sure the project ran smoothly, and we were well informed. The project turned out wonderful, and we have a new kitchen! We are booking him and his team for our upcoming bathroom reno ;-)

After purchasing our apartment we decided to remove a wall between our living/dining room and a bedroom to create an open-concept floor plan. This was our first New York renovation and we weren't exactly sure what to expect. We had originally spoken to several contractors that we found both by referrals as well as searching online. We decided to move forward with Moe from NYC A1 Home Improvement and are extremely happy that we did. He was extremely quick in providing a quote and explained all of the work that would be done and estimated how long everything would take. Additionally, he helped us to navigate through many of the permits that were required as well as insurance and other details that were needed by our building. The whole crew that worked in our apartment was always very polite and nice to deal with, as well as effective at what they were doing. When the work started, they did an amazing job protecting the rest of the apartment from the construction mess. They also took great care to ensure that we would still have access to our kitchen and bedrooms without having to go into the construction zone. Additionally, they were also very conscientious about cleaning up at the end of every day and ensuring that there was never a mess (even though they were doing demolition work!). His subcontractors were also prompt and he ensured that when complications with our HVAC occurred, they found optimal solutions and went above and beyond to ensure that any extra work that had to be done in other parts of the apartment would not create an uncomfortable situation. Within the original time estimate, the work was completed and we couldn't be happier. No shortcuts were taken and they ensured that everything was done properly and to both our and our architect's expectations. Additionally, his original cost estimate was extremely accurate. We will definitely use him again for any future work that has to be done and have recommended him to our neighbors that are also looking for contractors.

Hired Nyc A1 for a kitchen and bathroom renovation that cost over $60,000.Moe had no idea how to apply to my building Architect for project approval, and we had to hire an Architect to write the application. That cost $3500 and caused a huge delay. Moe used an unlicensed plumber to do all the plumbing work for both the kitchen and the bathroom. My super confirmed that the plumber was unlicensed. Upon completion of the work, water backed up into the shower body, causing flooding and damage, which I had to pay another plumber over $1000 to fix. The water pressure between the hot and cold handles in the bathroom sink is completely uneven as shown in below photos.Hot water barely flows out in bathroom sink. The kitchen cabinets he installed are falling apart.The water pipes under the kitchen sink leaked and flooded the cabinet under the kitchen sink. Had to pay my super $500 to fix that. And now, Moe is refusing to sign off on the project. When I called him to complain about these things, he told me to just be quiet. Do not use this contractor

I moved into a coop in Manhattan and decided to tile my kitchen floor; the previous tenants had simply painted over the existing concrete, and I didn't think it looked very nice. I reached out to many different contractors for a quote and got quite a range. I thought Moe's quote was not only fair, but I also liked his vibe and was happy with his communication style. (In fact, as a woman, I have to say that some of the other contractors I dealt with acted entitled and/or pushy about getting the job.) Moe and his team finished the job within a few days, and I'm very happy with the results. It looks great! Thanks, Moe!

Outstanding, hardworking, responsive, & thorough. My landlord lets me take care of my apartment like I own the place so I'm catching up on some deferred maintenance. This time it was replacing window screens & revarnishing the front door. My landlord loves this door. He told me the story of where he bought it 30 years ago. When I suggested painting it, however, he was aghast. Unfortunately, it had been at least a decade since anything had been done to it. That's a lot of sun damage. This team came in, carefully matched the color to the back of the door, spent hours sanding, stained it, and varnished it. Neighbors asked if the door was new. The guys were really sweet and extraordinarily careful. Prices were fair.

Moe and his team completed renovating our two bedroom apartment in 2019 and they did an amazing job. I've been meaning to write a review for him. His quote was very reasonable and he was very pleasant to work with during the renovation. We've worked with many contractors in the past renovating other properties but he's the only contractor we'll refer to friends and family. We felt we were in good hands and we could trust him with his advice and suggestions. If you've never worked with contractors before, you'll be surprised to learn how difficult it is to find a contractor you can trust. We are now living in the apartment his team renovated and we love it! Thanks Moe!!

Sought out a bid from Moe after reading these amazing reviews. We needed to have our whole bathroom ceiling ripped out so that an HVAC system could be replaced. The bathroom is floor to ceiling tile, recessed light, fan, glass tile floor etc. We were very worried about it being damaged in tear out. Moe was one of three quotes we got and he was 1/2 the price of the midline quote and 1/3 the price of the high end quote (sorry to blow up your spot, Moe). He was able to coordinate work with the HVAC person, knowing that we currently had no heat in our apartment. He was SUPER available by text for questions or scheduling. The team who was here was professional and considerate. They kept everything as clean as possible, damaged nothing and honestly left the ceiling looking better than it did originally. The quality of the work and the ease of communication were top notch. So glad we had this experience with Moe and his team and will use them for any future projects we may have.

I needed backyard reno work and a little roof fixer upper. Heard about A1 Home Improvement from a friend so I gave them a try. I was a bit skeptical at first because I usually go to Abul Home Improvement or Amin Home Improvement, but at this time both were busy and was referred to A1 as they do competitively priced work. The individual I spoke with, Moe, was very helpful since I had next to no idea what I wanted other than cementing the backyard and doing a new roof. He showed me some of his previous work and gave a good sense of the price range, style and the time frame. More or less it all fit what I was looking for so I went with them. They're currently working on the project now. As of this writing, I have to say the work is coming along better than I expected (see pics). Pros: Very hands-on Easily understood Provides detailed work and references Competitive pricing Cons: Loud noises Messy backyard (well that's expected, so no biggie) Realistically I wanted to give them 4.5 star. But could not justify 5 as its my first encounter with them. I'm glad to have gave NYC A1 Home Improvement a try. For future work, they'll definitely be in my list of go to guys. Perhaps if the work is good in the future, I will surely give them 5 stars.

Moe and his crew did a wonderful job installing my kitchen countertop. They went out of their way to provide customer satisfaction. First they provided a sink for me free of charge. Then they grouted all my tiles in the kitchen. Bought a Kohler faucet but when there was a missing piece for installation, they went out to buy that missing piece, again free of charge. William, plumber/handyman, even replaced all my pipes under the sink. I would 100% recommend them for their professionalism and hard work. Great job guys!!!!
