One of my husband & my favorite things to do when visiting NY is to find great bagel shops. We've waited in long lines and stood in the rain for great bagels. We are so happy to have found this authentic NY bagel shop in Cary! We ordered the Nova Lox, cream cheese bagel with tomato, onions and capers with the addition of an egg. It was fantastic! We also ordered the pastrami, egg, and cheese bagel. It was ok but not great. We called in our order and picked up our bagels minutes later. The good: They were busy and working really hard and took care of customers quickly. A good amount of choices for bagel and cream cheese flavors. If you are someone who hates when places skimp on the cream cheese, they've got you covered. Prices are fine. The less good: Doing a DoorDash pickup was not as easy as I hoped. When I went in to grab it there was no indication as to where the pickup might be, so I waited a long time and would have been longer had I not spoken up. A small sign would make all the difference. Bagel shops often seem to not do as well with sweet bagels compared to savory. My French toast bagel tasted entirely like onions thanks to the knife used to slice all the bagels. My blueberry bagel did not have much flavor at all - I think I was expecting blueberry throughout the bagel, rather than a couple berries total. The bagels were kind of flat. I do love cream cheese but I had to scrape off a ton of it to be able to taste the bagel. In summary, underwhelmed. It's far from my house so I won't come again. If I'm gonna drive 30 minutes out of my way for breakfast, I'll just go to NC Jelly Donut, honestly. read more

The bagel itself was delicious but the staff was extremely rude and unhelpful. I'm pregnant and from out of town so was searching for something from my hotel room on door dash before heading back home (not from Cary, and have never been to this bagel shop) The whole concept of DoorDash pickup, and stated across their entire website is "order ahead and skip the line". If you don't want people assuming they can skip the line for their order that's paid for and ready, don't even offer pickup. Or make a sign that tells people they need to wait in line. Not only did I get laughed at when I asked if the brown paper bag up front was for doordash (it was their make shift trash bag for straws and such), I was also rudely told in front of the whole shop that "next time I need to wait in line like everyone else, DoorDash or not" to which I apologized and said I didn't know, I wasn't from here and it was my first time there. Listen, I'm not a Karen. I didn't come in with a sense of entitlement and demand my bagel. I quietly asked my questions and waited patiently to the side with other waiting customers. Blame it on the pregnancy hormones, but I left incredibly embarrassed while everyone stared at me. It takes way less energy to be a kind person than it did to try to teach someone who just wanted to support your business a lesson. read more

I miss home -- you can't find a good BECSPK on a roll in the triangle. I'm skeptical of anywhere that boasts their "New York Style" anything, but especially bagel shops. They all serve their egg sandwiches on bagels which are inferior for egg sandwiches bc they're too hard OR on croissants which fall apart and are way too greasy OR biscuits and let's be honest here okay I know it's the south but biscuits are dry af and it's so unpleasant. We all know a BECSPK belongs on a Kaiser roll -- a difficult find in the triangle, indeed. It's the water, or so they say. Enter NYC Bagels of Cary, NC. They prove that it is not the water, but pure incompetence and lack of skill on the part of their competition (which, clearly based on this review, I consider there to be none). That is where you go. I accidentally found this place whilst heading to the mountains with my dead best friend and it has been the go to for Sunday breakfast on my days off regularly since. I spend $40 every single time I walk through the door. I regret absolutely nothing. I have memories here. I find a small comfort in closing my eyes and biting my breakfast sandwich sipping my Arizona peach tea in my car and imagining I'm stuck in traffic on the LIE. Brings me right back. Love y'all. Grabbed a bagel and iced coffee to-go from NYC Bagel and was happily surprised. The Nova Lox bagel ($9) was delish, and I got a huge iced coffee for like $4 to go with it. The customer service was laid back and friendly, and I was in and out of there within 5 or so minutes. I was particularly fond of the llama photo on the wall . I had an everything bagel with cream cheese and bacon. Good but the everything bagel didn't have that hit of salt that makes them great.

We decided to get a couple of bagel breakfast sandwiches and coffees to go before our journey up North to pick up our kids, and we knew there was a 'new place' across the street. The bagels are some of the BEST in Cary. There's another NY themed place on the other side of town that has been our local favorite for the past decade, but NYC Bagels has at least met, if not exceeded them on the bagel quality. Now, they don't have other pastries, or deli sandwiches, but the sausage, egg, and cheese on an Everything was a top 3 lifetime item. My wife told me at least 3 times on the drive up, 'damn that was a good bagel' and 'crap, now we are going to gain 10 lbs.' The coffee was good too! read more

They have a nice variety of bagels and cream cheeses. I noticed the chocolate chip cram cheese and asked for a taste. The young man behind the register obliged. I went here around 10:00am on a Sunday and a line quickly formed behind me that reached the entrance. It's a smaller restaurant and seating is somewhat limited with 6 two-seat tables inside and a couple of outdoor tables. Placing orders was a bit slow but I attribute that to the place just having opened and dealing with the morning rush. I ordered an Everything bagel sausage egg and cheese sandwich and it was delicious! The bagel was nicely toasted, the egg was fried well done, and the sausage and cheese tasted great. It's a filling breakfast priced at $4.99 (+ tax), which is fair in terms of the size of the sandwich. Overall, I'm thrilled to have a quality bagel shop nearby that's open 7-days a week. read more

Having tried all of the bagel places I can find across NC, NYC Bagels is far and away the best I've had and the closest to bagels you would find in NYC. In particular, the taylor ham egg and cheese on a toasted everything bagel may be the best breakfast sandwich in the triangle area. The service is great, just call in 15 minutes before you arrive and it will be ready for pickup when you get there. This has become our go to breakfast spot for carry out. You could definitely eat in the restaurant as well, but it's small and there isn't a ton of seating, it is better suited as a place to pick up and take home or to work. Tons of different bagels, toppings, and cream cheeses as well so whether you want sweet or savory, meat or vegetarian, anyone can find something they will love. read more
