The day before my appointment no one called so I thought let me call to confirm my own appt. I've taken out my wisdom teeth before and know I shouldn't eat 8 hours prior. When the lady picked up she told me they don't do extractions on the weekends. Who wouldn't be upset after waiting two months for this appt. . I told her this is the second time I've been rescheduled and I'm already having a bad experience with the office. Her response was "well if you're having a bad experience then theirs no point in coming to the office.." I was shocked by how rude she was. I am already traumatized with one office I went to in Coney Island because of how unprofessional they were. The next day someone called to confirm the appt I had already rescheduled for the following week. I call back and they put me on hold and tell me the doctor had a family emergency and the other doctor they had doesn't take Aetna PPO so they wouldn't be able to see me next Wednesday. Then I asked "ok, when will the dentist that does take my insurance be returning?" They told me they don't know. LOL! I work in hospital and I understand that things happen but this all sounds like bullcrap. At this point I felt they did not want to see me as a patient.. I will be calling my insurance to file a grievance against this office.

I usually get my teeth cleaned every 6 months. Her and her assistant are very attentive and gentle with their care. She foresees any issues before they become big problems and tries to fix them on the spot (or schedules another quick visit at times at discount rate). So, I was one of those people who wasn't aware to keep wearing her retainers after braces and ended up back with all the gaps between my teeth. Dr mou helped me successfully transitioned to invislign trays. She kept a close eye on the health of my teeth during the process. At some point in my early visits, I developed gengivitis and she coordinated for me to have surgery in her office with one of her surgical colleagues. She worked with my insurance and always had suggestions on ways to make her visits even more affordable. The office stays on top of all my visits with frequent text reminders. I never had an issue waiting inside the office. And now with Covid, safety is not even an issue. I feel like I'm the only one there for my timeslot. They also go through a pre-visit as welll as an in-office questionnaire asking about your symptoms with temperature check. I always leave the office feeling my teeth were thoroughly cared for.

You don't want to see someone who exhibits so many red flags in one person…read more TLDR: The Doctor got hostile and bitter after I decided not to make an appointment, and texted me messages after I'd blocked his office number. I called Dr. Ostro's office to ask about his experience diagnosing and treating Ernest Syndrome and to confirm his consultation fee, since I am paying out of pocket. A man answered the phone -- I initially assumed he was a staff member, but he later identified himself as Dr. Ostro. During the call, I had to spell the name of the condition twice(RED FLAG!). If I knew he was the doctor himself right then and there, I'd end the call, but I only realized it later. The "associate" started asking me questions about my symptoms shortly after, and he said that I could have Eagle Syndrome because Ernest and Eagle Syndromes are often used interchangeably(RED FLAG! - only someone who has never heard about Ernest S. and doesn't understand the difference between them would confuse the two). I told him that my ENT already saw my neck CT scan and ruled it out, and my TMJs are healthy according to my imaging and my orofacial doctor. I then asked him who he was, and he told me he's Dr. Ostro himself. I immediately became suspicious of this doctor. After all, if he was capable of treating Ernest Syndrome, he wouldn't need me to spell its name twice. I bet he was googling its name at the time. Anyway, I decided to test his knowledge and asked him how he'd diagnose it, giving him a last chance to prove himself. He told me that I'd need a panoramic and CT scans(another giant RED FLAG!). He started getting impatient and asked me when I'd like to see him. I said that I needed time to consider. He got aggressive, saying that I wasted his time by getting him to answer my questions for free (while I didn't even know who he was for most of the convo). His pathetic outburst got me very annoyed, and I told him that I would never make an appointment with someone who doesn't even know that you need a diagnostic injection to diagnose Ernest Syndrome. He got furious, repeating his previous accusation that I used him to get answers to my questions and told me to never call his number again. I didn't listen to his rant and hung up. Here is when things got both funny and creepy. He wrote me an angry message from his cell, lol, after being unable to call me from his office phone because of my blocking. I blocked his cell phone as well, and then he probably ran out of devices to text me from. Well, at least I got a laugh out of his childish attempts to have the last word. He asked me to remove the zocdoc review in exchange for $1000 discount, I refused and stand by every word I wrote. 2.ONLY CARE ABOUT MONEY: never inform me they are out-of-network: I went there knowing he is in network with my dental plan, but he said my procedure would be medical not dental. Never disclosed he is out of network with my medical insurance. When I went over my plan: deductibles and copay with the office, they tricked me into believing they are in-network and asked me to pay in-network deductibles. 3.CRAZY BILLING: I went there for a simple mucocele removal, I pulled the average cost for the same procedure at zipcode 10019, the average cost is ~$300, highest is $950. Guess how much he asked? 3200!!!!! That's 10 TIMES HIGHER than average cost from BCBS cost estimator. Also I don't need a tooth xray, but he asked me to do one without even knowing what my problem is.
