Having to find a new dentist in NYC was very daunting, and I've called and combed through so many dental offices. Many offices don't accept many insurance plans or new patients. I was in and out quickly for a routine cleaning (with 2 baby cavities found! :'/) I didn't catch her name but she was younger. The staff was really friendly and best of all, the receptionist man was super kind and professional. I felt taken care of!

The main issue I had, and the reason I found another dentist, is that they require you to pay everything up front. They told me that it was because the insurance will sometimes reimburse the patient rather than the dentist office. If that's the case, then charge me after. I've never ever heard of this approach. If you're tight on your finances and can't afford to front $90 for a cleaning and much more for fillings, you might want to go to another spot that doesn't their payments differently.

Now I'm still left with a narrow palate, practically pointless fixing it at my age since most of my facial structure is developed. This was something you were suppose to mention from the beginning, palate expander than braces. Instead you over charged for braces treatment and now I have a narrow underdeveloped mid face and teeth structure due to this. My lower jaw is wider than my upper making it difficult for my teeth to be touching. Your job was to fix my dental structure using correct orthodontic treatment based of my problem (narrow palate = palate expander) not slapping braces on every person that goes to you. When i asked you to fix this issue, you told me an additional $1500 after basically you didn't fix the main issue from the beginning. I wish i knew about this earlier but now it is too late. Ps. Also they have one of the worst appointment scheduling ever. It's extremely disorganized always. Prepare to wait for hours and if your lucky more than half an hour and this is when you come on time. Been dealing with this for almost 2 years.

They literally told me if I don't delete a review they wouldn't fix a perm tooth that fell out(yet again). Doesn't matter because ultimately they now all need fixing and he left me walking around with mangled gums and shaved down teeth he did. Multiple visits w teeth falling out. Multiple times I have asked them for a refund. They only care about their reviews. I have tried to get other dentists to fix but they wont touch it and are horrified by his work. Months of dental consults. Other dentists have said they hear often about 212smiliing and having to fix what they have done to people. I finally found a reputable dentist but it took multiple consults and now 45000 in repairs after Dr Kim mangled my gums and teeth(see pict). I have not been able to socialize for months because I know I look this way. I went in for a second repair and Dr Kim messed me up even more as i was crying in his chair begging him to fix it - Did NOT care. This dentist needs to be put out of business from bad ethics. They only care about their reviews and not who they will hurt. They seem to be used to lawsuits with their replies. They simply do not care who they hurt medically. Please run from this dentist. Its terrifying what they did to my mouth both top and bottom please see picture. I literally paid them to mess my mouth up for 30000. Its been the biggest nightmare of my entire life. They not only mangeled my gums and bone and shaved down my teeth but now having to have multiple treatments to fix it that costs me way more. Ive reported him to the dental board. It looks like most bad reviews here are quite old and from before Dr. Verma became the lead dentist at Holistic Dentists. Dr. Stuart Schreiber was EXCELLENT but the billing staff was not professional…read more After i had my work done and i checked in with the billing liason i was told i had no insurance...this surprised me as i was certain that i had insurance...anyway i was told that my cleaning from 3 months earlier was not paid for because there was no insurance...I worked it out with the billing liason that i would call in the morning with the insurance information since it was after hours. The next day i called a total of 5 times from 8-5:30pm and left 2 voicemails and never got a call back. When i finally did connect with someone(thurs.) i felt as if i was an annoyance based on the way my call was answered but nonetheless i was told that "everything was taken care of they received my voicemail and i am all set". The next day(Fri.) i get a call saying that i had an outstanding balance that needed to be paid, how was i gonna take care of it...i told her i needed an invoice and she told me i should have received one on the day of service. I told her i didn't she said she would send me one but if it wasn't paid within 2 days of receipt my account would be sent to collections. Instead of verifying insurance before i had my fillings i was told after..this would cause me to be liable for over $1,000 and to top it off i was told on wed. if i didn't pay it off by the end of the week my account would be reported to collections. I am not sure how this practice intends to stay in business if their method of obtaining payment is to threaten you immediately after your service that your account will be sent to collections. As much as i liked the Dr. I would NEVER go there again...i can't wait to get the invoice so that i can forget i ever went there. This entire ordeal was really stressful.

It actually looked better than before. I was really impressed with how much time she spent with me. She was very thorough and even though I had come in for veneer maintenance, she did an inspection of my whole mouth. She actually found something with my molars that my last dentist had missed. Extremely disappointing and misleading billing experience. I would not recommend this practice…read more Before scheduling my appointment, I specifically called the office to confirm that they accepted my MetLife PPO dental insurance. I was told that they did, and I was explicitly assured that if there were any reason my insurance would not cover the services, the office would let me know before I came in. Their website also indicates that they accept MetLife PPO. I also specifically asked about the cost of the services beforehand. During my appointment, the dental hygienist was supposed to inform me about an additional $395 charge but "forgot." I was only informed about this charge when I went to check out. At that point, I was pressured to pay the $395 and was repeatedly assured that my dental insurance would cover 80-100% of the costs. I have now found out that the claim was submitted as out-of-network, despite my having specifically confirmed my insurance status with the office beforehand, and my insurance ultimately covered none of the $395. What is most frustrating is that I made a point of calling ahead specifically to avoid exactly this situation. Had I been told that the provider was out-of-network or that I could potentially be responsible for hundreds of dollars, I would not have proceeded with the treatment. Patients deserve accurate information about both insurance network status and out-of-pocket costs before treatment, not a surprise $395 charge at checkout followed by assurances that insurance will cover it when that turns out not to be the case. I am extremely disappointed with how this was handled and will be telling my friends, family, and anyone I know looking for a dentist not to use this practice. I will be filing a formal complaint with the New York City Department of Consumer and Worker protection as well as the Better Business Bureau over these fraudulent and misleading practices.
