We had the lamb kebabs- delicious! They do not skimp on the lamb. We'll definitely go back.

As a chef, I do not say this lightly. Dunya in Waterbury is a gem…read more Whenever my wife and I are anywhere near the area, we make it a point to stop. It is not just convenient. It is intentional. The food, the market, the people, the energy of the place all make it worth the trip every single time. The flavors here are deeply rooted in the Middle East and the Mediterranean, and you can taste that authenticity in every bite. The hummus is silky and perfectly balanced with tahini and lemon. The baba ganoush carries real smoky depth. The chicken kebabs are juicy and seasoned all the way through. The shawarma is warm, aromatic, and layered with spice. The falafel is crisp outside, vibrant and herbaceous inside. My personal favorite is the Iraqi Chicken Sandwich. It is absolutely phenomenal. The chicken is tender, boldly seasoned, and packed with flavor. Every bite is balanced and satisfying. It is the kind of sandwich that stays on your mind long after you leave. Everything is halal and incredibly fresh. The place is always busy, which tells you everything. The food turns over quickly. The products in the market turn over quickly. There are always people picking up takeout and others shopping the shelves. And the market itself is a treasure. Authentic meats, cheeses, sausages, dairy products, dry goods, teas, dried beans, spices, specialty ingredients and more, all reflecting the flavors of the Middle East and the Mediterranean. These are items you simply will not find in conventional grocery stores. If you love to cook, you will walk out inspired. If you have never been before, do not be intimidated. Walk in. The staff are incredibly welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. There is space to sit and enjoy your meal, and they do a huge takeout business as well. Dunya is easily one of the best places in Waterbury and the surrounding areas. Authentic flavor. Unique products. Warm hospitality. I highly recommend it.

I did not expect to be as impressed as I was! I wanted to see what the difference in the chicken dishes so I had the boneless tandoori chicken tikka, chicken malai boti. Both are boneless chicken. The tandoori chicken tikka was my favorite, spicy but not overpowering, super juicy a lot of seasoning. The chicken malai boti was also juicy, but it is a very subtle light seasoning. Not too salty, not spicy, still with very nice char on it. I like that the chicken dishes did not come with rice as I don't eat it and it's a waste when I order elsewhere. I felt the prices reflected this, and you can get a side of rice if you would like! I also got the appetizer pakora chicken. It has a very light coating on it and is fried chicken, definitely was made fresh, I'm not sure how I would describe the seasoning but it was very tasty and unique. I didn't care for the dipping sauces, just personal preference. There's another very well-known Indian restaurant in town that I ordered from often and I have to say A&B is giving them a run for their money. Definitely will order again, if you like healthy fresh chicken at a reasonable price check them out!

A nice, family run Resturant with friendly staff and a variety of middle Eastern Dishes. The Butter chicken and Naan was fragrant and rich with the delicate spices of the region. The colorful butter chicken blazed in its orange red saucy glory, was delicious and filling. The Naan bread was fluffy and light, like a warm sock that comes out of the dryer. Excellent food I wish I tried more... but I had to rush to my next adventure in Europe with dad.

We did not find a dirty store at all, everything seemed clean and pretty well organized. Their menu -- takeout only, no tables for dining in the store -- offers a variety of Indian and Pakistani dishes. We sampled the Chicken Tikka ($9.99), which was moist and kinda' spicy, delicious; and the Mutton Biryani ($14.99), wonderfully meaty and seasoned, and served with Naan and chutney. A sided order of the good Naan is $5.99. With more time, we wold have tried more items, but we really came way impressed with how pleasant and professional the people behind the counter were. We'd hold off a more conclusive comment pending further visits, but please know ours was a good and tasty experience.

When I confirmed with them, they said it was over 5 pounds and when I asked for the receipt the receipt just has one whole check without any context. Do yourself a favor, and get your Halal chicken from a ShopRite or go to a different store because there's many options now don't go to these crocs because they've always been this way and they continue to be this way!
