What more can you ask for when going to a ballgame?? OK, so I haven't been to many minor league baseball stadiums, but I can almost guarantee this stadium provides one of the BEST views of ANY minor league baseball stadium! The view of Manhattan from within the stadium is truly spectacular, especially during those summer evenings when the sun is setting. You can't beat that! Wait actually you can because the stadium is on the waterfront so double whammy there. Did anyone say photo ops? Also, did I mention that the stadium is convenient to get to? OK so you don't drive? or you don't live in Staten Island? No problemo! The Staten Island Ferry drops you off within a 2-3 minute walk of the stadium. Does it get any more convenient than that? Oh and did I mention that the SI Ferry is free? The games might not be the most entertaining here and even I haven't heard of most of their current players, but there are so many other reasons to check out a game here --- It's a great family friendly atmosphere, the tickets are cheap as heck for great seats, there are great promotional freebies almost every night, one of the current players might just turn out to be a future star and it's a chance to support the local community! Love or hate the Yankees, there really is no better time to relax and enjoy a ballgame than at a minor league game here. The best times I've had watching baseball happen to be at minor league games and this is a great place to start.

There was a bar, merchandise you could buy, and some photo opps. Check in started at 11:30am but we didn't arrive until a little after 1:00pm. We checked our clothes, had a drink, and it was time for the race. The race started at 1:30pm. Everyone's energy was great! I loved all the different costumes. The race was about a mile and it was through the streets and over a bridge. After the race, there was a party with a DJ. Overall, I had so much fun.

Our Yelp team, 'Baby it's Yelp Outside', raised over $7K+ towards this charity and won third place in fundraising for NYC...Whoo Hoo!!! Thanks to all of my supporters and contributors in helping me reach my fundraising goals which added to the teams overall goal, couldn't have done this without you. As it was explained to me, this is one of the few charities that you don't have to worry about where the funds are going as it goes directly to the Children's Tumor Foundation and that in itself makes this particular event even more than worth it. Thanks to our Yelp NYC Crew, Drew, Sierra and Katey for being there. I was genuinely happy to see our Yelp table representing, as you always do. Thanks to all the Yelpers, friends and family that came out despite the extreme cold, very brave of you considering the weather conditions. This year it was clearly stated that you did not have to do the run, which a few people heeded. But that didn't stop some of the barely clad who did the shortened run by the Westside Highway, with car horns blaring, showing love or better yet wondering what the hell is going on with hundreds of people running in their unmentionables...that was a funny sight to see. Also, thanks to Brian N. who made me aware of this charity a few years ago and Alexandra K. who ran our cool team of Yelpers this year by keeping everyone informed and pretty much managing all things necessary for our teams success. Awesome afternoon dance party with underwear wearing fund raisers, what more could you ask for? Oh, I know, temperatures in February slightly above freezing.

So here are the top ten reasons why you should participate in the Color run: 1. Big parking lot so you don't need to worry about whether you'll find a space. 2. T-shirt, two sticker tattoos, headband, wristband and free pack of color that comes with your registration pack 3. Emcee and DJ did a great job getting the crowd excited and riled up from the start of the event till the end of the event 4. If you're not a runner, you don't need to worry about being out of shape. Only 5% of the crowd ran. Everyone walked the 5k. 5. Color stations were fun and the volunteers did a great job getting color on you. They never socked me in the face with powder. 6. Water stations were great. Not really for drinking, but for throwing water at your friends. 7. All the free stuff from sponsors and vendors. Granola bars, ice cream, water, smoothies, yogurt, drinks, etc... 8. The run itself. Over 5k registered but the space was big enough that it didn't feel cramped. 9. The after party. The event staff, especially the Emcee did a remarkable job getting the crowd into it by queuing up EDM songs. 10. The Color!! They were very generous distributing color packs at the end of the event. Nothing like dropping a beat into a moshpit with hundreds of color packs launched in the air. Great job Color Run. Great job indeed. We will be back - Electric Run, here we come...
