Beware if you have them install any appliances. Back in November of 2024 they installed an new Speed Queen steam function dryer and hose, in our home. It leaked and caused a mold issue. Their insurance company, Liberty Mutual, has denied the claim after I sent all the paperwork, pictures, and video. We got a low bid contractor and even supplied flooring, baseboard, and cleanup to keep the cost down. We would be dinged on our homeowners insurance if we let them pay the claim but that wasn't right because we had no fault in the problem. They probably spent more in wages and time from 11/18/24 - 4/25/25 than just paying the claim. The guys at Nyholm's were uncooperative from the get go and it took me a week and half just to find out who their insurance company was and there was so much more after that. They don't stand behind their workmanship or help for their customers. On top of that I would never buy any digital Speed Queen products and even their newer non digital. This is ONLY ONE of the 4-5 local companies I tried to contact when our fridge suddenly stopped working. Either they couldn't be bothered to answer the phone, or couldn't be LESS interested in helping us. I think this is the one who said they would look at our fried Gr if we BROUGHT IT INTO THEIR SHOP ?! WOW No empathy, no suggestions or recommendations. How is it that there is NO emergency refrigerator repair services available to us here in Lewis County? When our fridge died with no previous warning there was a problem, my husband and I panicked. I would personally consider the refrigerator in every household an "essential appliance" because it preserves ALL of the PERISHABLE food we purchase to feed our families. So, if you are looking for a new career, I would recommend becoming a refrigerator repair company. We would have paid double time for any qualified appliance repair company to come out at any hour to help us troubleshoot the problem. My husband and I discussed the idea of getting into the refrigerator repair business exactly for this reason. Weeks later, the problem was identified in 5 minutes as a failed switch behind the rear cover plate that cost less than $70. IRONIC Of course we can't expect appliance repair companies to have parts in stock for every brand of every appliance on hand so it was going to take a day or two to repair. Our groceries were long since spoiled and thrown away. We had to buy another refrigerator to solve the problem as soon as possible. Our broken but repaired older fridge will go into the garage as a spare. Shaking my head. In the age of purchase and replace versus repair, repurpose, or reuse $2,000 for a new fridge and an old one destined for a land full. I have had many appliances repaired by this business. The owner is owner is pleasant and his employee bill is a delight. They are respectful. They do not Sugar coat any issues regarding appliances. They are upfront about what manufacturer products They will Service. I have heard it that bill is a fantastic employee and many of the customers that I have spoken with find him to be delightful. During the pandemic they were the only appliance store that had readily available product. They worked extremely hard to get the necessary appliances into the store. So if you're looking for appliances, please check this store out. They will do their absolute best for any customer. read more

This place is terrible! They aren't transparent about their pricing, they don't fix the problem, and then want to charge you more to come back out to "look" at the issue. They try to pass the blame and not take accountability for them not doing the job they were hired to do. read more

I hate to admit this but I had a refrigerator on order from one of the big box stores and then I passed Nyholm's on the street and decided to pop in. They had a refrigerator on the floor that would have worked perfectly and the price was great! I felt badly because I really like to support local businesses if possible. My date for delivery from the big box kept getting pushed back by 2 weeks at a time. Finally I decided to cancel the order and run into Nyholm's. I spoke with Richard over the phone just to make sure the refrigerator was still there a not realizing it was 20 minutes before they closed. He was nice enough to stay for us to come get it. In my family's efforts to support local businesses we've used Nyholm's quite a bit..in-store as well as service calls. The Good: Location...right downtown! The Bad: Consistently poor customer service skills. When requesting prices on items that need to be ordered we've been told on several occasions that we'd need to talk to the guy who does the ordering. No offer to take our names, find out the prices & call us with the info...or when this ordering guy is around so we can track him down. We are usually the only ones in the shop...don't they need the business? No sales drive. Same goes for talking to the repair guy on service calls when asking about possibly replacing appliances with new ones..."oh I have no idea, you'd have to talk to the sales guy"....*note "sales guy" is the one who was so unhelpful when needing appliances ordered. How about getting an incentive program together for the employees so they are encouraged to be helpful & knowledgeable? Something needs to happen because it is a painful process every time we're trying to give these guys money by purchasing or using their service. We are committed to supporting local businesses but we've strayed a couple of times when purchasing new appliances for rental properties...just because it is so bad here. Long wait time for service calls...usually a wk or so. The So-So: Fair price on studio sized appliances. read more

Everyone has their own opinion and mine is very favorable. I have constantly used Nyholm's for every appliance I've purchased; for my rental property and my residence. Richard Nyholm and his staff have always been very helpful to me. I go back four generations in Centralia and my folks always used Nyholms. For example--last week I replaced all the appliances in my rental with better quality Frigidaire. It was done in a snap and of course, with a very nice visit with Mr. Nyholm This is the quintessential "hometown appliance store" and I would GLADLY give my business to someone that calls me by my first name when I walk in the door. I one time complained to Richard I was looking for a Kegerator and how expensive they were. Richard said "oh Lori, I can order you one for much less than that!" Which shows, even if he doesn't carry it on the floor, he ordered it up and I am very pleased with the quality and price. Best part of the store is how quickly everything is always delivered. This is not Lowes or Home Depot, but a small town business in a historic location with pictures of his Dad on the wall. I called to get help on fixing an oven. The guy on the phone made me feel like an idiot because I didn't use the right lingo. He said he needed the model number so I said I would call him back. I called the next day and a different guy (just as rude) said they weren't taking any service calls for at least a week. WHAT! I asked if I could get on a waiting list so I wouldn't lose my place in line. He sounded bothered and again said "sir i'm not taking any calls.!" As a small business owner, I can never imagine handling a client like this. Looks like I'm stuck going to the big box store. Looks like all the other bad reviews I read were dead accurate. read more

My husband, myself, and my children went to this store looking for a replacement switch for our antique stove. As soon as we walked in, a man stepped from another room to stand behind the counter. In a not so pleasant voice, he asked how he could help us. As my husband talked to him about the switch, my boys and I looked around at the appliances. The man took one look at the switch and said "nope, don't carry it". When asked if he knew where we could find one, he answered with a short, and less than sweet, "no". He offered no help at all and his tone was very rude. We left there feeling disgusted with our community appliance repair store. We drove to the nearest Ace Hardware and found the same switch in less than a minute - and that includes asking for help. I will never step foot in this store again! read more

We bought a frigidaire washer and dryer from Nyholms ten years ago. They have faithfully worked many hours a day, 7 days a week through two kids and one grandchild and are still working. They have needed a couple repairs, but what doesn't? This local appliance dealer services what they sell as they came out once for a repair. They did the work quickly and without hassle like many big box stores give you. I have bought parts and they always have them in stock. The small stores that offer service for what they sell are going away and it's a throw away society. This store has lasted many years and hopefully many more to come, but I fear will eventually give way to the big box stores. read more
