I passed this place when I was in Hoboken and noticed a gaggle of people in front. I thought this must be great food if so many were waiting outside to order. I decided to take a chance. The people were friendly, and you can tell it's a popular location. The bagel sandwiches have interesting names like Bee Sting and Ridge Diablo. Oftentimes, the sandwiches include a mixture of meats and or cream cheese. I ordered a Bee Sting. When I sat at the nearest bench to eat as there's no indoor seating at the restaurant, I was slightly underwhelmed. My friend was visiting from out of town and really wanted to get sandwiches from O'bagel after seeing photos on Instagram. With Covid, the only way to order is online via ChowNow. Unfortunately, the page isn't very flexible and the site advises anything you put in the special instructions field will be ignored. I wanted to add avocado to the one sandwich however it wasn't listed as a substitution/addition to check off, so there was no way to request that or to ask for the bagels to be toasted. Also no way to request gluten free. We ordered the Ridge Diablo and Jalapeno Popper both on whole wheat bagels for pick-up. We placed the order about 90 minutes in advance of our pick-up time and our food was ready when we arrived (no wait). Based on several Yelp reviews, I was expecting our order may be wrong, but everything was right. Both were tasty, but I liked the Ridge Diablo more - the pickled jalapenos are a nice kick. I wish they had been toasted / wrapped in tin foil to stay warm. Probably not a place I am going to order from very often - $8 for a breakfast bagel sandwich is pricey, however it could be a nice treat after a night out. read more

I recently ordered 2 dozen bagels for a group of friends, and the whole wheat and plain bagels were not as flavorful as I remembered *Prices went up. *Sometimes the wait is just not worth it. My top 2 picks are usually the Ridge diablo (always add hashbrown for extra flavor) or the bee sting. Cannot go wrong either way. I love Obagel and went there for over 10 years when I lived in Basking Ridge. I'm glad to have a location close to JC but honestly something has happened every time that keeps me from giving more stars. Stopped in to pickup chicken salad (tastes the same as always but this batch really needed salt) and was confused as to why everyone was using the self serve drink cooler but I wasn't allowed to and the girl came out from behind the counter to get what I wanted. Wouldn't even let me walk up to get a full look? Very confusing. One delivery order showed up without my drink but the food was good. The options are a bit confusing though because some items aren't on the online menu, or they don't explain the ingredients which is weird when something has a name that doesn't tell you what's in it. Bacon Egg and Cheese is self explanatory. A burrito named after a town with a blank description is not. Second delivery order was a a mess. Bagel wasn't scooped or toasted, bacon wasn't cooked, and it was drowning in ketchup despite my not asking for ketchup. It was extra disappointing because some things allow adding sauces or removing ingredients and some don't, the BYO menu doesn't have all the options listed, some sandwiches have some sauces available but others don't and they don't allow special instructions. I literally just wanted to add sauce to one sandwich and couldn't. One had an ingredient I'm allergic to but couldn't remove. Very confusing why nothing is standardized. Also like, just say what "o'saucy" is. It comes on half your stuff, it costs $1 to order a side of it, and there's no explanation at all. I just want to know what I'm getting. The only thing that deserves 5 stars about obagel is their scam on social media. You think your going to walk in and be greeted by the obagel family but instead, your greeted with angry stares, rude service, awful lines, and overpriced bagel sandwiches that are below average. $8 for a bacon egg and cheese is ridiculous. O'Bagel is where the Hoboken carboholics come to unite. Came around 11am on a Saturday and there was a line out the door. Don't be intimidated by the line, because it actually moves pretty quickly and I was in and out of the store in less than 10 minutes. The storefront is quite small so there's limited seating indoors, but they do have a few tables outside for you to enjoy your coffee & bagels. The bagels here are soft, chewy and fresh. I also appreciate the wide variety of bagels and spreads. It's pricier than some other bagel shops in the area, but I personally find the quality to be much better than the competition.
