I had been having sporadic issues with my garage door opener for a few months when it finally hit a breaking point. I set up an appointment with O'Brien and Thomas G was sent out to take a look. It ended up being a super simple fix - he was able to repair it in a few minutes, making me feel more than a little ridiculous. However, my garage door opener was also pushing 20 years old so I knew that I may be interested in a new one. Thomas was incredibly informative about the process, explained my options, and never put on a hard sell. He gave me a price for an all-in change/service and when I hedged bit at the price and wanted a bit less, he accepted without pushing back. I'm the type of person where a hard sell will likely end up in no sale, so his approach was perfect. Thomas was here for around an hour replacing the opener, the wheels, and servicing the entire door/mechanics. He was incredibly informative and took the time - despite the 100 degree heat in my garage - to explain everything about the new unit, how to program it, what options I had, what my warranty details were, etc. One other thing to note is the price point. I had done a lot of research ahead of time to get an idea what it might cost if I decided to replace the unit and the price from O'Brien came in a bit under what I expected. Our garage door spring and cables broke. We called O'Brien Garage doors and they had someone out to see us within a few hours. We used them in the past (2014) and their technician Ramon did an excellent job. We had a different technician named Thomas this time. He was very friendly, helpful, and kept us informed on what all needed to be done to correct the issue. New spring, attached cables, and installed some silicone rollers (It makes the door so much quieter) and he was in and out in 45 minutes. The price was great also!! One fateful Sunday afternoon a couple weeks ago, my wife left to do some shopping and I heard a strange metallic clanging sound from the garage after she left. It turned out that one of the garage door springs had snapped. We did some quick research on local garage door repair places and I called Monday morning, starting with O'Brien. They up front gave me an estimate and said they could get there same day. That was good enough for me to not call around and just give them the shot. Thomas came by later. He was super nice and explained things well. In a non-pushy way, he pointed out some potential problem areas for our 20-year-old garage door. My wife and I talked it over and decided we'd rather replace the door than put the money into repairing such an old thing. That same week, Thomas came back to put in the new door. Overall, the experience was great. He's really friendly, professional and good at explaining what he's doing and what's going on. This having happened amidst the COVID-19 crisis, Thomas was very responsible by wearing a mask whenever near me and keeping appropriate distance. It gave me confidence that O'Brien and Thomas are taking precautions seriously. The end result is a brand new door that's been working great. I would work with O'Brien again in a heartbeat. I would have given 5 stars, but the call center was not good. At one point I said "do you want my business?" but Thomas was great! So I kept calling and calling, and finally got it set up. I used to go with a different company and they really took advantage of me, which i kinda guessed, but my suspicions were confirmed when Thomas came out and showed me what was wrong. Don't use this company They can't answer their phones (long and annoying message) They can't keep the messages that you do leave in order!!!! Called them in the morning.... left a message about 5 to 6 hrs later no one had called us. So I called and left another message THREATENING TO CANCEL THE PART we were waiting for (waiting for almost a month) (no one ever called to say the part was in) after the 2nd message someone finally called, so we set the appointment for the next day.... waited for the tech to show up no one ever did Turns out THEY cancelled the appt. cause they finally got our 2nd message the NEXT DAY They said we cancelled the appt. no we only threatened to cancel the part IDIOTS read more

This was our second year working with O'Brien and they did a really nice job tuning up our garage doors, rails, and motors. This year, our technician found that our cables were rusting at the door, where failure of these would damage the door. He replaced these and the price was well worth it. They do good and timely work and are very reasonable and thoughtful. read more

After getting three estimates for our garage door replacement we decided to go with O'Brien. What a huge mistake! It is Saturday afternoon, April 16 at 3pm. On our first attempt to order the garage door, The phone was answered by what sounded like a very young girl we explained that we wanted to put the order through she asked for our address and then promptly hung up on us! We immediately called back it rings and it goes right to voicemail and then after waiting on hold we were prompted to leave our name and number which we did. We then found another phone number for them and we called that number, an imbecile by the name of Luke answered. My husband told him we were not very happy because of what just happened, this nitwit said nothing, no,...I am sorry that happened to you, nothing, he just repeated this is Luke from O'Brien garage! We were pretty shocked! he completely acted as if he didn't hear my husband at all! In fact I ended up asking him did you just hear what was just said? I thought maybe we had a glitch in the phone or something. But he said no he heard. Even after I told him he should really apologize, he absolutely refused and then he hung up on me! Stay away from O'Brien garage there's lots of other great companies out there that are willing to do the work and can be polite at the same time! What a concept! read more

I set up an appointment to repair my father's garage door for between 1 and 3 on a Tuesday afternoon. This appointment was actually a return call because the first time the guy came, he was able to get it running again, but didn't solve the real issue because it stopped working again a week later. I waited from 12:30 to 3:15 at my father's house and no one ever came or called. When I called in they simply said sorry in a really smug way and then transferred me to "rescheduling" without asking me first, where I waited on hold for 5 minutes before hanging up and calling customer service. It gets worse.... The lady at customer service who claimed to be the manager(with no manager above her or anyone to answer to) stated the she called and left a message for me at 1:40 because there was no answer. I of course asked her what number she called and it was not mine. At this point I'm really angry and say, "How can you not have my number? The repair guy called my correct number twice last week!" No apologies or cares for wasting 3 hours of my life. No admission that they could have tried the number again, searched for my correct number, or just came to the appointment as scheduled. The call ended when I was rudely hung up on when I simply asked for this person's superior to call me and was told that there is no one who is responsible for her actions within company, ie she has NO boss! WOW! The absolute worst customer service I have ever had! My advice: Don't waste your time and ruin a good mood with O'Brien... read more

I don't often write reviews but couldn't pass up the opportunity to give a shout out to our Technician Thomas. Last week we had a power surge that "knocked out" several things such as a new thermostat, (had to be replaced) TV & Cable, (had to be re-programmed) and the garage door opener. The door stopped about a 1/3 of the way up so I had to pull the Red cord to release and close it. I called O'Brien and made an appt. for the following day. Before they arrived I was using it manually and one of the spring cables broke, the door fell of the track and basically crumbled into a mess!! I was afraid the technician would be upset that it wasn't in the notes (because it happened 20 min before they got here) and figured it would turn into a re-schedule. However, Tom arrived, looked it over and said "don't worry, I got this" saying he didn't want to leave us with a half opened broken door overnight. He basically re-built the door with brackets, completely fixed/re-built the track, replaced several hinges and re-programmed everything. I even overheard his kids calling to make sure he was okay around 9:30. Tom - thank you!!! You truly saved the day and also gave us our security back! We picked O'Brien over the other options simply because they could get us in for an appointment the same day we called, which all other companies could not. We were VERY PLEASED with our service! They showed up right within the promised window of time, and even called ahead to let us know they were on there way. Ramon was outstanding at showing us what our problem was, giving us our options for repair, and our quote was very reasonable. Ramon replaced the spring and got our garage door back up and working within 30 minutes. I would definitely recommend this company. read more

BEWARE Contracted to install 2 garage doors. Upon installing the doors the worker realized he did not have all the door parts and did not know that openers were included in the install . He had to return 2 days later to finish the job. I was given a quote for, as their representative described as, "all in and complete" however when installing they tried to add an extra 200 dollars for trim. There are many better companies out there and it would be best to find someone else. read more
