The littlest venue that could! Scenester central for underground Metal and Rock in Beantown. I have seen and played a ton of great shows here, the place is tiny, the folks are rowdy, the drinks are mean and the bathrooms some of the worst east of the Mississippi. Loved it. *I haven't been there since they revamped the place, but I'm sure not much has changed and the walls are still covered in cheap-ass tacky (but appealing) 70' wood paneling. *Oh yeah, parking is a bitch. You will have to try really really hard not to get towed!

Live music 7 nights a week, with cheap drinks and even cheaper cheap beer. Good place to see Rock, Metal, Hardcore, heavy stuff, etc. Sometimes there will be like 7 bands on the bill, and it will start early and be packed all night. Sometimes the opening bands don't show, and the only band left plays 2 sets of covers to their friends and the staff. Either way, PREPARE TO ROCK. The cover has been about $6 - $8 during the week, more on the weekends. They cleaned up the inside a few years ago, and freed up some extra space in front of the stage. You can't really escape the band anywhere if they are ungodly loud. Bands usually like to turn way up here, even though it's pretty small. I always feel bad for the soundguys here. Every night there's a guitar player who'll crank up his full Marshall stack to 11, and wonder why you can't hear anything else. The place sounds alot better when there's a pro band playing, who is loud but controlled, and who understands the room's limitations. Even if you don't drink PBR or High Life, chances are you've had one at O'Brien's. Everyone that knows someone in a band has had to sit through three or four drunk bands on a Tuesday night, waiting for their friends to go on. Every Boston rocker has played here. I played here before I was even allowed to drink in bars. Good place to get trashed, yell out obscene things, take shots of something random, and get on stage and try to sing words you don't know. You used to be able to smoke here like most bars in Boston, and the place would smell like a Pabst can that was being used for an ashtray. Your eyes would have to adjust to the haze and stinging. The places smells better now. Well, a little bit...

This place is kinda grimey. Or very grimey. Surprisingly the ladies bathroom is usually okay. I'll only go if it's a friends band playing.

We started with the pretzel bites and a curl of French onion soup (so sad I didn't get a photo). Both delicious although the cheese sauce for the pretzel bites was a bit thin - the flavor was there though. The French onion soup was delicious! The first spoonful made my tastebuds dance! The bread in the soup tasted like rye which ended up being a nice touch. They also did not skimp on the cheese! For our meals, my wife got the French dip sandwich handheld which she enjoyed. She was only able to finish half. I couldn't decide and asked our waitress to decide for me from shepherd's pie, chicken pot pie, and the London broil. She talked me into the shepherd's pie due to the weather outside and the fact that it is so big, I would definitely get to take home leftovers. This dish was huge! From the first spoonful, the taste of the sirloin/potato/demiglace was perfect. This is definitely a hearty dish worthy of a winter's night! From the smile on the host's face when we walked in, the ambience with the wood, windows, and lights, and our wonderful (and attentive) waitress, our visit to O'Hara's was definitely one we would like to replicate!

You can get a variety of items from Yakitori (grilled meats on a skewer over a hibachi), Kushiyaki (the same with veggies), different types of sushi, tempura and classic hot dishes. You are quickly met at the door and seated and the restaurant. While it's a little bit dated, it is a pub and it is comfortable. The service is super attentive and always prompt. When you seated at the table, you immediately get water and a delicious cabbage salad gratis. You can get a picture of beer for $25 and a great selection of Sake and other cocktails. The food prices are very reasonable for the quality and value that you get. The food is always super tasty with the yakitori served hot. The sushi is fresh and delicious. The grilled salmon with vegetables is wonderful with a nice accompanying savory sauce.

This new-to-us brewery on the cute pedestrian-only Birch St. had an outdoor patio but we opted for seats inside. It's not a big place, but it has a good number of tables and bench seating in a brightly lit space. The Tall Man got the autumn flight of 4 beers (one being one of their maltinis), which he enjoyed for their variety. I wasn't up for imbibing so I got a Health-Aid kombucha from the fridge. (They also carry Athlete's nonalcoholic beer in cans.) They have some packaged snacks for purchase, but they encourage people to get food from local businesses to eat there. It was pretty darn convenient to pick up lunch from nearby Chilacates. It made for a very chill lunch and sip. We weren't even the only ones with a stroller! It was a relief to find a brewery that's not utterly mobbed and where we could bring the little one. I would definitely come back for another relaxing hangout.

We started with margaritas which were just so-so. My spicy marg was not spicy and generally we found them to be a little on the sweet side. Fine, but to me it was more like drinking some nice juice. We ordered the nachos to share (you must get these) and a variety of entrees. Food came out so quickly! There was also SO MUCH. I made another two full meals out of leftover nachos and fajitas and could have stretched to a third. It's definitely Americanized Mexican but it really hits the spot! Loved the rotating welcome sign at the entrance. My only complaint would be the ladies room could use a makeover. A nice paint job and new doors as one stall had no lock..
