When looking more into the restaurant online, it seems to be a pretty popular joint, especially after the Sox games. We went around 3:30pm on a Tuesday and there were only a handful of tables. What a gem! Recommended by a friend that lives nearby. Did a Fenway stadium tour right before the Red Sox played against the pirates. There was a small gap between the end of the tour and start of the game so we walked over to grab dinner. The place was already pretty busy but we were able to get seated before the game day crowd came through. Food was really good! Very casual atmosphere. There were quite a few people there grabbing drinks & appetizers and watching the game. Will for sure be coming back here the next time we visit Fenway again. read more

Great food that punches above pub food weight and with great prices for Boston. Service was amazingly good given a Red Sox game had just ended at nearby Fenway Park and the place filled up quickly. We had a very solid grilled turkey reuben on rye and an amazing grilled salmon fillet served over gnocchi with sauteed onions, corn puree and asparagus. The salmon probably sounds like there was a lot going on, but it was a well put together dish that was super tasty. Good selection of beers here of course. We had a traditional Guinness with the burger and a refreshing Jack's Abby Porchfest with the salmon. I'm pretty sure this place has been in Fenway for a long time, however this was my first time seeing it. So of course naturally I want to go in. John was my server and he was amazing, did not miss a Beat and was so kind. I had a steak tips with brussels sprouts and fries. My fries was kind of still so I didn't eat it, they didn't seem too fresh. But I also didn't need to eat it because those brussels sprouts was so good and the steak tips I got the medium well but they were so tender and so juicy. Visited on a Thursday night, the place was too big for the amount of people in it. It certainly wasn't dead but there were too many tables and the ceiling was too high for it to be cozy enough. That said the vibes were good, there is a bookshelf full of games, and the bartenders were nice. We didn't order any food but it looked and smelled soooo good. Will be getting some next time. Their drinks are affordable but nothing special, though I'm sure you could ask for anything and they'd make it for you. In kenmore square, great spot for casual drinks with friends! We went for food, and the food is okay nothing to rave about. The service was also a bit slow. Our nachos came out cold and it seemed that it had sat and was forgotten about until our burgers were ready. The cheese had harden so it was an obvious tell. TLDR - This place double-charged me and refused to refund me. Was visiting Boston and decided to try Cornwall's. The food was actually pretty good, and our server was nice - but when I went to pay the server claimed that he needed to swipe my card twice due to a problem with their system. The next day I checked my bank account and saw that I had been charged twice. No big deal - I assumed that it was a simple mistake that could be taken care of. I called the restaurant when they opened and they told me they'd need to wait until later that day for a manager to be in, and they took my contact information. I never heard from them throughout the day, and I happened to be in that area of the city again that night, so I popped in to get the problem fixed. Again they turned me away and said I'd need to wait. I never heard from them again after that. I tried calling back the next day - to no answer. I left a voicemail inquiring as to when I would be refunded - no one ever called me back or tried to contact me in any way again. Not only that, but they even added a 20% tip to the faulty charge on my account (I don't know if their system automatically did that, but still pretty wild). I had to go through my bank to get the charge removed. I didn't think it necessary to spell this out for a business like this, but it's not exactly great customer service to double-charge a customer and then proceed to do everything in your power to avoid fixing your mistake. Mistakes happen, we're all human - but their actions after the fact make it abundantly clear that they were happy to take advantage of me. Which is a shame, because as I said, the food was actually good and the lunch was otherwise enjoyable. I would have recommended this place if this never had happened - now, I'll be telling any friends, family, Boston residents and Yelp users reading this to avoid this restaurant at all costs. There are plenty of great pub-style restaurants in the area, and plenty more scattered around the city - none of which will attempt to steal from you like this. read more

My former professor (I went to undergrad in VA) was up here for a conference (and also a BU alum) and he took me here. It was his favorite spot as an undergrad though I guess it was located across the street back in the day. Sort of like the TARDIS it's bigger than the outside makes it appear to be. Lots of professionals on lunch break type crowd in the day. I guess it's full of college kids by night. I got the southern fried chicken sandwich (I think that's the name?). We ended up having a spontaneous dinner here when I had a limited amount of time before needing to get to the BU Comm school. And was in need of a drink! It turned out to be the perfect spot! I always forget this place is here and will be meeting people here for drinks instead of the "family friendly" Uno, or Bertucci's. First of all, it's very spacious and has ACCESSIBLE BATHROOMS ON THE FIRST FLOOR. Can I get an amen? Seriously, I'm not sure about the men's room, but the ladies' room has an accessible stall the size of our Allston studio, and it's super easy to get to- which means we could definitely come here for a long evening of cocktails if we needed to. We only had about an hour, but we had a full meal and the service was courteous and fast! I had the grilled cheese and minestrone which was a total comfort meal! This restaurant is a typical Boston bar with standard pub fare. However, the prices are not Boston prices. $10.95 for all the burgers and sandwiches around the same price point. A very pleasant surprise. Wait staff was very attentive even though it was wall to wall people. Don't get fancy with meat doneness. I asked for rare on the burger and my friend said, Good luck". A quick walk from BU-and you get to walk in to a large bar with free popcorn! Whatttttttt!!! I was actually full when I came here so I didn't eat much popcorn but it's comparable to the type you get at movie theatres-very good and flavorful! I didn't try the food but I tried about 3 types of draft beers-all were very good and though I'm not a beer person, you can see how I ended up pretty drunk by keep trying new beers. The bartender was really sweet and let me try some before I committed-super nice! Although there were only about 2 bartenders, they were quick with service and we barely had to wait to get a drink even though there were lots of people here on a Friday night. When we started doing tequila shots, they of course got the salt and limes ready-unlike some bars that'll only give it when you ask. Love it! The bathroom is also clean and no line for the women's bathroom-another plus! I will definitely be back when I'm in the area. read more

A pub is easily the best friend to a solo traveler. I am fortunate enough to work for a company that will fly employees out to Boston from all over the place, put us up at a very nice hotel, and rent out a good portion of the House of Blues for a bash. I don't know too many of the employees, so hit Yelp to get a beer and evaluate my night. The Cornwall is right across from the hotel. I believe they have around 30-40 taps, and several bottles. I couldn't stop drinking the Smoked Stout and after I started talking to the regulars, Jameson became the chaser. Its here I had a big realization: 1) Boston people are great. Very friendly from my experience 2) They can drink. I wish I had a problem keeping up but I didn't 3) The cost of drinks are not the same in Boston as they are in Detroit Since almost all of my costs are covered, item 3 really isn't a huge deal.
