Yes, that kind of welcoming feeling and look. Now for the food which was brought to us by our ever near waitress. The Philly Cheesesteak was on a soft hoagie type of roll, and trust me, soft is better for the bread being served on a Philly. The steak was small cuts mounded up (as in my photo) on top of the melted cheese, with tasteful grilled onions combined in. Trust me, you should order this! I have been here before for a quick beer in an afternoon, but the crowd and servers are different, but this is the first time for ordering food. I have been to this location twice. The first two event I enjoyed. This last one on Saturday was not good. Service was poor. Not offered a drink. Looking for a chance to watch Carolina Gamecocks. Ohio games were on as well as a Cleveland browns club event. Bartender turn on a tv that was 13 inch at best. Felt unwanted. Decided to leave. Spent 100.00 at a different location. The food was ok, nothing special. I had the French dip sandwich, and my wife had pot roast sliders which she said were good. The restaurant itself has a nice interior as well as a nice outdoor seating area. The primary reason for the 3 stars is because the service was slow. The bartender was too busy flirting with the young gentleman at the far right end of the bar, and paid little attention to us older folks on the left end of the bar. It's a good place to watch football, but there are plenty of other places just as good for watching football that have better service and better food. read more

I've been to O'Brion's a few times for some fellowship with friends and nice cold beers. The bar itself is very clean and that's a plus when you'd like to sit at the bar and enjoy your food and drinks without worrying about your health. While they claim to be an Irish pub they are far from it; serving fish & chips, Sheppard's pie, and a couple of beers from Dublin does not make a restaurant an Irish pub. No, O'Brion's is more of a sports bar than a pub. The food is pretty typical of bar food, but on the upper level of bar food. I enjoyed a Reuben when I visited. I came in with a small group to catch up for a while. I've been to Obrions before but never had their burgers. They were doing half price while we were there but I wasn't hungry. Most of our group got burgers... some were happy with it while others thought they were overcooked. I had some fries but that was it. I just had a couple drinks. Can I just say I HATE...HATE whenever a business slaps a credit card service fee onto your bill. So I am giving O'brions a 1-star because THEY ADD A 3.5% CREDIT CARD SERVICE FEE to your bill (please see pic), which is a pet peeve of mine and I refuse to support nor will I recommend any business that sneaks services fees onto the bill for customers who pay using credit cards. Honestly, it's just such a hostile gesture towards customers and makes me feel management / owners don't value my business. Beyond that the only conclusion you should draw from an establishment tacking on service fees to your bill is the clear contempt for customers such an obnoxious business practice implies. I've been here 3x - the first time I had a great experience. The locals were friendly, the bartenders were the same. So the next time I come here, over a year later, I tempered my expectations- but it's still awesome. It's a locals bar for sure, so you'll definitely feel out of the loop. BUT- every time I've come here it's been a great vibe. Locals are friendly. Bartenders are awesome. The beer is cold and it's consistently good. The food is also good - as a PA native, I will attest that the Philly cheesesteaks are awesome. I camp on James Island once a year and when I do I always come here. I would recommend this place to anyone else from out of town looking for a laid back locals spot with good food and affordable drinks. read more

My experience at O'brions Pub would have easily been a 2 or 3, had it not been for my bartender. Been meaning to try this place for a while, and finally decided to stop in after a late night visit to Lowe's around the corner. This place is nestled in the Publix strip mall, next to a Mexican restaurant. Despite the strip mall status, they have set up a nice little patio situation. 2 TVs, some tables, and a cornhole set are all outside on the sidewalk! Once you're inside, you almost feel like you've entered someone's living room. It gives off a cozy, casual vibe, but includes a ton of TVs playing different games. Down side: we ordered food. Burger was mostly dry (though the blue cheese was good), fries were decent. Attempted the artichoke dip and it was simply not good. I'm not sure if it was because of the canned artichokes or what. The pita that came with it was nice, but could not get over the funky sour flavor. Plus side: our bartender was extremely attentive and nice. Our drinks were rarely empty for long. When I was not happy with the dip and ordered a side of fries to appease my belly, they actually made another dip for me to try. Same flavor issues pursued with round two, unfortunately. When the check came, not only did he remove the dip, which I did not ask him to do, but he also bought us a round of drinks! This was a classic example of service totally saving the day. Since my last review of this place things seem to be working so much better at Obrions. We go almost every Tuesday of the winter and we take advantage of half price burger night and the Happy Hour prices which are great as well. Our server seems to be the same one weekly. She is so nice and helpful with our choices on the menu. And we feel very welcome now. Overall a great improvement over my last review and we now will be back again tonight and then busy at the Shelter for the summer since we will be in Mt P every Tuesday. But will be back for other events and after sailing season. read more

Obrions Pub is a good local strip mall hang out bar. With televisions, outdoor seating for those smokers or enjoying a warm evening, live music during the week and weekends and decent bar food, it serves all the value a pub needs to serve. With a chalk board on the sidewalk highlighting daily specials, you have a good idea of what the offerings are before you walk in. The bar is long for this restaurant if you just want a beer and a game to watch. Overall, it is a nice local James Island hangout to spend a few hours or get a drink before you head to Publix for groceries. read more

This was the second time I've been here for lunch. This tiime I tried their Shepard's Pie. It was very good. Not too much mashed potatoes and very flavorful. I would have hoped for more meat in the pie but that will not stop me from ordering it again. I also had a sweet tooth, so ordered their chocolate cake. When I go in to an Irish pub, I have to order a pint, and when you order a pint in an Irish pub, you shouldn't have to explain that the pint should be a Guinness. Just to be safe, I asked for a Guinness, and it came in a tall 20oz glass and was crisp and cool with just enough head on top of it. The Guinness is also the first thing listed under appetizers and soup of the day, so I really couldn't go wrong. I talk so much about the pint because the food was not the highlight of this visit. I ordered the East Bound & Down burger, which was half off after 5pm, and asked for it to be done medium. It was not done medium. It was more on the well side of things, and there was no shade of pink in the meat, which you should see a little of in a medium burger. The burger came with an over easy fried egg on top, which helped add some juiciness to the bite, but still, wasn't the best burger I've ever eaten. Anyways I ordered and waited an hour and when my food had still not arrived I called the restaurant just to be told "we're not taking deliveries" although they were listed on Uber eats. So my card was charged and I received no food and no refund, and no explanation. Just a thought - maybe don't list your business on Uber eats if you won't be accepting orders? When I did call the receptionist was rude and acted like I should've known this. Go on burger night! I enjoyed my discounted delicious specialty burger that didn't break the bank. We opted for healthy sides instead of fries and that was a great decision. For a a place that considers themselves a bar joint they make vegetable concoctions worthy of a more classy place. We loved the brussel sprouts. The staff was attentive and polite. Went on Wed to see Ben Fagan & The Holy City Hooligans. Great reggaeish band! The atmosphere was welcoming & friendly. They had a delicious looking special that included green bean casserole but the kitchen was only offering the late night bar menu when I arrived. The drinks that I tried were all good including: jack & coke, fireball shot & wheat beers. I had the BAILEYS CREME BRULE & I must say it was pretty yummy although it was a little eggy. I dislike coffee so it was a great alternative to the normal creme brule. Service was great & the staff was all very beautiful. There were also many beautiful girls there. Their clientele seemed more attractive then average. Conclusion: Check out there food before late night then come again to watch some great music with good energy, get some good drinks, and enjoy some unique desert with beautiful ladies. read more

Decided to give this place a try because I heard they had a burger that rivaled the Tell Tale Heart at Poe's. Sure enough, the Brunch Burger did not disappoint, came out hot with a fried egg, bacon and cheese and was as juicy as it was delicious. A friend had the lazy bulldog and was equally impressed. The burgers are huge and served with a side, we chose the fried which were seasoned and pretty good. Only downside to this meal was the service, I think there was only one server on so cant really fault her for that, but we were in a bit of a hurry so it was frustrating.
