This is our go to for a great bar atmosphere yet very tasty food. The service is always top notch and the servers are So friendly. Also. A great carry out place. We get carry out a lot since grands go to bed early. The carry out does travel well and is still fresh and intact when we get home. Love the fish and also burgers and wings are always a hit. Best sings hands down. Service is great. Food is a little slow to get out to your table. Everyone is above and beyond friendly.

My friend and I walked in here for a Saturday night dinner and I was very pleasantly surprised. I expected decent bar food, nothing amazing. What we got was very very good. She has a house made veggie burger with excellent fresh guacamole and extra crispy fries. My own French dip sandwich was substantial, with the most tender and moist house braised short rib. The side salad I substituted chips for was MASSIVE. I love it, this would have been a full size salad anywhere else. The TV's were loud as all hell, but it was during March and I'm sure some people enjoyed that. I just loved the good food and fast service. Definitely worth returning! read more

Good food and service but have to deduct for wait time during lunch. We were quickly seated outside on a beautiful day, and I don't think Mgmt had staffed for the potential. Our gal was scurrying around and apologetic, but that didn't help our experience taking almost 1hr between sit down and eating. Longest stretch was after ordering before food arrived. Just felt like 45+m for lunch prep isn't appealing for lunchtime. Will plan to go again, maybe in the evening or when we can plan for a 90min lunch. We have been here several times. It's always crowded and folks seem to enjoy the experience. My husband and I sit at bar and always share a meal. The reason for 3 star is the price is very high. Wines are $10 and beers $5 for basic. Meals are $16ish. We shared a Ruben and I couldn't taste the ingredients because it was covered with smoke flavor. This might be our last try. It's a shame because atmosphere and location is great, but with new options close I think we can find better options elsewhere. read more

Let's start out with the positive. Absolutely true American pub food and atmosphere. Really laid back place. Burger was amazing but the Rueben was lacking. Not a lot of meat and toppings but a whole lot of bread. Now the bad. The service was crap. I usually don't complain when it comes to the staff but our waitress was slow. People sat down a half an hour after us got their food way before we did. Also took over 15 minutes to get my second beer and they weren't slammed. We used to love coming to this place but the last few times our food has taken anywhere from an 1 hour to almost 1 hour and 45 mins to come out for a group of 2 or 3. I've had to go to the bar multiple times to get our drinks, our checks, ask for our server, etc and it's not that our servers are ignoring us, they legit disappear. The restaurant isn't that big, they just aren't checking on their tables. We had called to ask about the wait and we're met with a rude attitude stating "it's a Friday, we're busy". We were also met with a rude attitude when I chose to have a drink and my other two friends asked for water, the server questioned why they weren't "being fun" or "enjoying their night". The truth is, this place has gone down hill. I'm not sure if it's better in the summer bc the patio is open and they have more servers but the rude responses on the phone and lackluster service are a real turnoff for somewhere that used to be a constant in our rotation for restaurants. read more

Whether it's dining in, carryout, a private event on the 2nd floor, we enjoy O'Bryons. I take out of town guests and friends here all the time. Our team absolutely loves it. This is one of my favorite places to eat in Newport Kentucky. I write books on customer service and I enjoy seeing and experiencing places that give great service. At O'Bryons they give really good portions of quality food. The picture below is a side salad to replace Saratoga Chips or fries. Just look at the size of the chicken sandwich! So far every meal that I have tried has been delicious. I would also suggest you try their cheese sticks! I have also always received great service from the employees. The restrooms are very clean, good lighting etc. The vent is actually upstairs and not in a real prominent place, but I would clean it, paint it or replace it. Gave it a second try and it was still just mediocre. The wings are decent, which I think is what they are known for. They have good drink specials as well. Both experiences the service was super slow and it really did not seem that busy, but they were kind. We did not care for the Reuben at all - which was a bummer. The meat was chewy and the flavor was off, so she comped it from our bill. I'd go back for the wings and a beer, but probably not a full meal. I'm a big fan of the original location in O'Bryonville, so we thought we'd check out the other spot, in a residential area of Newport. The beer list was a little less interesting than the original location. I blame the dumb Kentucky distribution laws. Take note O'Bryons - tell your distributors what you want, don't just let them push their high margin pseudo-craft beers on you. Other than that, amazing food, just like the original. The service was great, and I'm looking forward to coming back on a better day to check out the outdoor space and chill for a while.
