My family planned on renting a pontoon for July 5, 2022 for 4 hours 9a-1p. On Sunday July 3rd we went to OC Bayside Rentals on Dorchester St. they explained they had 2 different pontoons. We went with the less expensive and put a credit card deposit down. We were told to be there half hour before our ride starts to get paperwork done. Upon our arrival and walking to the shack the girl informed us that our boat broke down the day before and they tried to call that morning. I had no missed calls or voicemails. The only other option they could offer was a 4 passenger speed boat. I explained that we were 3 adults and 2 children. I asked to speak with a manager and the girl told me no. Multiple times I asked her to call the manager and was told no. There was no solution. She was downright rude. I demanded the original rental agreement paperwork with our credit card number on it. Moral of the story 0/10 recommend OC bayside rentals. read more

I've been jet skiing MANY times in the Ocean City area. This is my favorite place to go. I tried this place for the first time. They normally charge $75 for 1 hour jet ski session, but have a $20 off coupon on their website: http://www.ocbaysiderentals.com/ if you ride before 9:30am. The guides take you out past Assateaque (spelling?) Island and you can see all the horses along the coast.. then you basically are free to ride around within certain boundaries until your hour is up. I went with my girlfriend and I kept doing 180s in the water.. ended up flipping the jet ski over. They immediately rushed over to me to see if I was okay.. and I was. They were like "okay cool" and rode off. They don't care if you jump off your jet ski or anything. Just dont crash it into a boat or another jet ski (aka damage the jet ski). very fun times. if you're looking to go jet skiing in the Ocean City, MD area.. this is the place to go. read more

Very poor service and ships that are barely seaworthy. We called up to get a fun day of a pontoon boat family rental. We were told the price and after the entire day we were told that we also had to pay for gasoline. If only that were the worst of it. The ships themselves were rusty and had many dangerous sharp metal corners. Making it very dangerous, especially for families with kids and barely seaworthy. DO NOT RENT HERE! Crap boats. Filthy rust buckets that are *nothing* like what they have on website. When we said something about this boat not only being totally different, but being a literal falling apart, dented to hell junker of a boat, they said they have "no control over what is on the webpage." What?!?! It is their own webpage and yes they do. This was a con job... Total bait and switch! Boat was so dirty with clumps of hair and DIRTY TISSUES left onboard. Rust and dirt everywhere. Exposed rusty nails at both side and rear entry. Tube for tubing was not fully inflated. Boat kept stalling over and over and had spark plug issues (or bigger problems!) and staff appeared to be aware of mechanical issues... but did not care. Life jackets were all wet, torn, dirty and covered with hair. One didn't even float - useless. Girls at check out were SO rude to another guest. But the boat... just wow. We rent all the time and had two licensed Captains on board... we have never seen such a colossal crap boat... or sh*t show of a boat rental company. Book in advance *ELSEWHERE*. We get there, get a boating license, pay for bait and give our credit card payment for the boat as well as give a $300 for insurance. After payment they tell us they don't have a boat for us and that it broke down. Kids all upset and they tell us it'll take 3 days for us to get refunded. Kids run the place. Let me start this review by saying I do not begrudge the staff. They were all very nice, I understand COVID has made it tough, and the end of the summer is a challenge with more crowds & reduced student staff. But I blame the owners (and maybe MD DNR??) for certifying the boat we rented, called Rosy. I've boated in the Mid-Atlantic for years, owning one of my own, and being a guest on many private vessels. This pontoon was in such disrepair, it was appalling. In addition to the pictures you see, it had no RADIO (hello, DNR/USCG?!), no ladder (cuts trying to get in from swimming), no lines besides the anchor rode - which was only long enough to anchor in ~3' - and no working gauges. The throttle was literally one screw away from coming free of the column. I'm pretty sure my son got a rash from sitting on these molded seats. What a f*cking embarrassment to send customers out on this dump at a rate of $75/hr plus gas. Do yourself a favor and steer (this boat couldn't steer) clear of this place. PS- 30 hours later, I am still waiting for them to refund my security deposit. read more

I felt compelled to post a review because of all the negative ones for this business. First time renting from OC Bayside this past Saturday. My husband and I rented a 17 ft powerboat Saturday morning to explore the bay for 2 hours. It was a seamless process from start to finish. There were plenty of boats available. All clean, in great working condition and full of gas. The two employees who handled the paperwork and oriented us to the boat and bay were friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. The next time we visit OC we will definitely be returning to OC Bayside. read more

Poor customer service!!! I've never been so humiliated and baffled at how the staff treated my family and I. The woman was so degrading. We arrived twenty minutes late since the boat kept turning off on us. We tried to explain to the staff what was going on. This woman comes out of no where scolds us, as if she is our belligerent mother. Then proceeds to cuss us out and demand more money. Money was never the issue but the manner she spoke to us expecting us to pay was unacceptable. If you expect the customers to pay treat them fairly. Don't cuss us out and humiliate us and expect us to pay. Then gets in our faces with her phone. This woman needs to be trained in customer service. Be more understanding that your boat breaks down and know how to treat and talk to your customers. It's sad to say I will never rent from them again. I've rented many years from them. The boat did not turn on, something was wrong with the ignition. The radio on the boat never worked. And not just that water continued to enter into the boat. This is a great case of where I should have checked the Yelp reviews first. The prices were very reasonable so we decided to reserve a 19 foot boat for 6 people. First the bathroom was disgusting. It was basically an outhouse. The staff who explained the bay boating rules was just reading a script like a plastic figure. The boat was dirty and looked pretty old too. 10 minutes into the Bay the motor froze. Even at full throttle we can only go as fast as quarter throttle. Going so slowly, we were caught in lots of waves and wakes which made the ride back very uncomfortable. We finally got back, got a lukewarm apology and a refund. We were visiting from CA to see a place where my wife spent many Summer's when she was young. Obviously this was a huge disappointment for the entire family. Pretty much ruined our day! read more

My girl friends and I were so excited to spend our day out on the water in a pontoon boat. When we arrived, we were told our boat was no longer available because it wasn't up and running. Thankfully, they somehow magically fixed our boat in 5 min so we could go out. The entire time, the motor was "putting" and would randomly turn off. The zip ties that were holding the canopy up broke and almost fell off the boat as we were driving. The boat would randomly start to sink in the front or the back as someone would walk around - pontoon boats are usually stable. Then when we returned, we unloaded on the jetski dock and the plastic on the dock broke and I fell in it. The management was horrible and took everything as a big joke and said all they could offer was free gas. Free wasn't the matter, it was the simple fact that we had to end our rental early because we felt too unsafe and the boat was not reliable. I do not suggest going here. read more

This is the second time that I have been to OC Bayside Rentals or Aqua Watersports (same company) to rent jet skis. Last year was outstanding. The first time ride for my husband and I (separate skis) last year was awesome and I immediately fell in love with riding. If you have never done it before or rented, let me give you a run down. 1. Before you hop on the jet skis you will need to do the little safety test to be sure that you can read instructions. It is important information, so READ IT! 2. Normally you will have 1 or 2 guides that have you mount up on "parked" jet skis. They go through some of the safety basics and tell you about what the trip will be. 3. When they push you off you start up and idle out of the pier area. 4. Out of the pier area, you'll be instructed to give it a little gas to maneuver through some of the boats and obstacles. 5. You'll reach a point when your guide signals to GO and when they say GO they mean gun it! You'll travel at a high rate of speed fairly straight to the "play area" behind Assateague. If you have never ridden before, this will be the time that you may feel like you are hanging on for dear life. Your hands may even cramp up a bit from holding on so tight. 6. When you get to the "play area" you'll be given boundaries for riding. For your own safety, please stay in the lines. 7. When the guide sets you free... you gun it or hot dog around or even just nicely ride around the area at whatever speed/pace you desire. ENJOY yourself! It is great being on the water! 8. When your hour is up, the guide pretty much has you ride like a bat out of hell to get you back the way you came with the same restrictions and speed as you get back to the pier. If you think an hour isn't long enough, believe me it is. It is a tiring experience and worth every penny. Remember to wear sunscreen and that you can bring a bottle of water with you (most skis have a little area for storage). If you roll it, like my mom did... follow the guide's instructions, roll it back quickly and get on it from the back. If you try the side you'll just roll it over. If you fall off or roll it, remember that is what life vests are and just don't panic! The guides are good at what they do, they have been riding for a while, the customer service from the people at the office and in the sheds (mostly 2 gals) is really great, and all in all, I'd go back again this weekend if I could afford it. I recommend reservations and coupons! Remember to tip your guides and enjoy yourself. We loved it so much that we went twice this time! read more

Definitely wish there was a no start option. Customer service really ruined It all. We rented the boat for 4 hours and they didn't get us out for 45 minutes, but still charged $300. Once we finally got Out, we immediately noticed the boat was not fast at all--we called before and specifically asked if they had a faster boat (proving the point they just want money). We finally tried getting the tube out but the tube clip detached from the boat. After getting in the water did we realize there was no ladder, so getting on the boat was a bigger ordeal than necessary. We tried getting the tube to clip once we got It situated, but like I mentioned, the boat was not fast enough for this at all (they tried to argue that It was). So we decided to take the boat back early because It genuinely was not what we expected and we rent boats every year we come here! The owner came out and got an attitude with us saying, "so you want It free is what you're saying" but that's not what we were suggesting at all! We did use It for an hour and a half but It wasn't what we expected! They ended up giving us nothing and just telling us "it's been a hard year for us," which should never be a concern of the customer. Hopefully they go out of business soon! read more

My family and I had an amazing time renting jet skis here. With all the deals, coupons, and reserving in advance offers, we only ended up paying $55/hr per person which was not bad. The views from this area area spectacular. We saw several of the Assateague ponies on the shoreline. The area you're allowed to navigate is pretty large. In fact, sometimes it was difficult to find our crew. Thank goodness for my boyfriend's bright yellow shirt :-) So exhilerating. I definitely would make this part of your vacation plan if you have the opportunity. read more

We've rented a boat every year here for years and never had a problem. THIS year was HORRENDOUS. We got there at 8:30 as instructed and it wasn't even open. Dock boy was 20 minutes late. The Pontoon boat was a TOTAL PIECE OF CRAP!!! BEYOND ridiculous. The seats were moldy, throttle was broken, all three doors were broken and one was zip tied shut, not one thing worked on the dashboard, there was dangerously loose metal hanging off the pontoons, the canopy was all ripped up and the engine trim button didn't work. We got stuck on a sandbar and two of us had to jump in the water and push it off because the switch to lift the motor was broken. This boat should have been retired years ago. On top of all this, they wouldn't honor my coupon because they said I gave it to them too late! We hadn't even boarded the boat yet, let alone sign the paperwork. This place was a JOKE this year. My family has rented multiple different boats around here but we decided to rent from this place because this was the only place we could find that had tubing available. When we first went out, we noticed that the steering wheel was very hard to move. After being out for only 5 minutes, the boat shut off completely. We called to let them know that it kept happening. The boat then started to steer us in the opposite direction from which we were turning, so they had to come out and tow us back. They had good customer service and gave us a full refund, but the boat experience was a huge inconvenience. read more

I've been a customer of OC Bayside Rentals for years. This year I lost my wallet whilst on vacation. A few days ago I received a package in the mail with my lost wallet with everything in order, and a note from Eric the owner. He found it when winterizing the pontoon boat we rented. That's really good service. Here's what I really like about the place: They have a really good crew that instructs people in basic water safety before they head out on the bay. The equipment is clean and in good working order when you rent it. The prices are better than many of the rental places in the area. It gets busy there so I would recommend calling for a reservation ahead of time. It's one of those places that gets a lot of repeat and local business so plan ahead. Ask them if they have any coupon offers they're pretty good about giving you a coupon rate if you ask. read more

Had a horrible rental experience. Do not go to this place! I was shocked when the owner of the company (John) came running at us and started verbally attacking our group after we parked the boat. He said he didn't like how we parked and just started yelling. When we approached him and asked him what the problem was he tried to physically attacked my friend. We rented a boat for our family. The boat just wouldn't "go". We were at full throttle barely going. We anchored the boat to go swimming and it stalled several times trying to get it restarted. My husband finally got it started and we dared not turn it off again. We were not told there wasn't a ladder on the boat and that we had needed to ask for one at the start. This was a huge problem trying to get everyone back into the boat after swimming, especially my mother and father. I will not be a returning customer. read more

7/6/14 Had an awful experience here especially with the owner/manager Stacy Murray. There was a complete misunderstanding and Stacy being the owner would not work with us at all. In fact she was uncooperative,rude, and hung up on us several times. Unmistakably, we went to another rental place and received excellent service. Later we learned that our reservation was incorrect and tried to explain the situation that day to Stacy and was hence charged erroneously twice the original amount as quoted from OC Bayside. I made several attempts to work with Stacy to no avail. Would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Don't go, awful experience. They gave as an old boat that almost sank, couldn't start when we stopped, hard to navigate and they had the nerve to charge us extra $500 for damaging their boat . The dock was too narrow and they had extra boats so you will collide with each other and reason for extra charge. The customer service lady was very rude and never listened. Engine started stalling in the first 20 minutes of our two hour rental ($218 + gas). Called back to the dock who told us to come on back in which we did. Got back by 11:40 after leaving at 11:00 and explained to them - they acknowledged there may have been an oil issue and began working on the engine. Fought us on a refund before offering us free gas ($17) to which i declined. They needed to contact a manager as there was no one there who could make a decision. They finally spoke with a manager who offered us $50 off - still not ok as we were out less than half our allotted time and the boat didn't even work properly. They refused to give us the managers phone number so I took a picture of their phone list at which point the freaked out. They then called the manager back who authorized a $100 refund. While this was satisfactory at best, the day was a waste and never would I return or recommend patronizing this business. Rented a 17ft center console to take my wife and 3 kids (ages 7-11) tubing. Very pleasant rental experience. Boat had a 60 hp motor and could top out at about 25 mph indicated. It was fast enough for my group, but bigger kids may want more speed. There is a 30-min (appx) ride to the riding area, so I don't recommend a 2-hour rental. Gas charges were fair ($43 for 9 gallons in a 4 hour rental of near-constant use). Mate did a good job showing me how to get out to the riding area, but it was still confusing getting back; I ran back through the area marked "Rocks" but fortunately didn't hit anything. Overall, a great time at a reasonable price. P.S. Check out their website for a coupon; I was able to use it even though I didn't print it out. read more

In the past I've rented the same tubing boat from Aqua Watersports that had a tiny ladder on it to enter back onto the boat. This year when my daughter called to reserve the boat the woman who owns the Aqua Watersports said she had a tubing boat and took the (locked-in reservation) thru credit card. Upon arrival I seen the only boat there did not have a small ladder to assist with getting back onto the boat. The owner/operator acted as if climbing back onto the boat was easy and done all the time....I just can't help but feel a woman sending her customers on this boat without a safe way to get back onto the boat cares much for her customers. I don't call standing on a tube on moving water a safe way to get into a boat on moving water. So please.... play it safe...and take safety first.... request the only boat they have that has a ladder on it to assist you. read more

Every year I come to Ocean City my family always spends a day on the water with OC Bayside Rentals. Some years we decide to rent a Pontoon boat with friends, and other years we choose to go parasailing. We always call around for pricing and have found Oc Bayside Rentals to offer the lowest prices in town. They often run specials on Parasailing if you call them in advance. They have had the same captain for at least 16 years I believe. Their parasailing boat is in great condition and coast guard inspected yearly, which I didn't realize was not the case for all parasailing boats until recently. Boat rentals are an even better deal, about $100 less for 4 hours then most other locations. The pontoon boats are a little older, but we would rather save the money then have a shinny boat, we're just out to have fun, and my daughters always love seeing the wild life behind assateague island. Dock hands do a great job of taking care of us. There are a lot of shallow spots in the bay but they will review how to navigate and go over a boat orientation before you leave. Always a good time, good memories with the family. read more

Should have read the reviews first! Probably my worst experience in OCMD yet, and my family has had a place here for six years. First off, the boat we received was damaged from the moment we got there, and although it was "marked" on the paperwork we were never made aware of it. Their map is outdated (they'll tell you this). Before leaving we were told gas would cost at most $25, when we returned Stacey (owner, manager?) told us our gas would be $47. We were also told that we had damaged the boat and it would cost $150 to repair it. Stacey insisted that they, "couldn't send a boat like this out" but other employees admitted that the same piece had some damage prior to our arrival. After some discussion, we were able to get the gas price back to $25 and the "damage" to $50. We paid for the additional charges in cash but weren't given a receipt, when we returned about ten minutes later to ask for one Stacey insisted that they didn't have a POS system (and that she didn't know what a "PO whatever is") and that she couldn't print a receipt for cash because she had just cleaned out the drawer. Eastern Shore Systems LLC installed a POS system for them in 2013, it's one of the first things on their Facebook. The rest of the staff tried to be respectful but Stacey made a bad experience worse for us as she was extremely rude before we even approached her. read more

This place is a joke and very unprofessional! I made a reservation 2 weeks in advance to rent a boat for my family. Not only did we wait around for a half an hour to get in the boat but the one they gave us was dirty and full of garbage. The boat had no ladder and 4 people in my party got cut trying to get back in the boat after jumping in for a swim. The speedometer didn't work either so we had no idea how fast we were going. This is illegal and this boat company should have known that! When we got back and told Matt who was the " manager" he was very rude, unprofessional and kept walking away from me when I was telling him how bad our experience was. 4 other parties saw our boat, how angry we all were and how rude Matt was when we got back and cancelled their reservations. DO NOT USE THIS RENTAL SERVICE. They are terrible in the aspect of both customer service and quality. My family had a pontoon boat reserved three days prior to our day of rental. We arrived and there were plenty of pontoon boats in the water. We arrived more than a half an hour before our rental time began. We were told that we would be placed in a pontoon boat that was half under water. The canopy was ripped and it was clearly not safe. The "manager" took us on the boat and said to us, "wow I did not realize it was that bad". When we stepped foot on the boat, it nearly went under water. He then walked into his office and came back out to tell us that there was nothing he could do other than rent us the sinking boat or we could pay an extra $250 for a boat that was an "upgrade". I asked him politely if we could at least have a discount on the upgraded boat as he had reserved us an unsafe boat and at this time, so late in the week, we knew we were not going to find anywhere to rent a pontoon boat. The manager then began to swear and scream at my family members. It was the most unpleasant experience I have ever had. read more
