It was 1:15 pm on a Tuesday so the dining rooms and bar were sparsely populated. I ordered the Fried Chicken Breast Sandwich with no mayo and added lettuce and tomato. I substituted the Rice Pilaf for their fries. The food was okay. The two sliced tomatoes could have been bigger and another leaf of lettuce would have been nice but I didn't leave hungry. The chicken was a big portion sticking way out of the bun. The rice was pretty good. My server was very attentive and brought out my check early like I asked so I could get going. She said margs $6 all day every day. We showed her the insert where it said $5. She said she didn't know anything about that. Happy Hour is 3-5 at our location. We were there at 4. The drinks were maybe a total of 4oz. Small. Told her we were done about 4:55. She gave us our checks after 5 and the bill was $6 margs and apps were full price. Talked to her again about happy hour. She said she couldn't do anything bc that is how it rang up. Spoke with manager, very nice, about all the confusion. He ended up comping our 2 drinks but couldn't do anything about the app prices bc again it was after 5pm? We ate drank and were done before 5. Gayle and I arrived at IND in the early evening after a day long journey from Reno (via Seattle) on Alaska Air. After picking up our Budget rental car, we headed down for Bloomington, which took us about an hour. We were then hungry for dinner, and there wasn't much past chain restaurants near our Hotel. So as a sort of stab in the dark, we picked O'Charley's. With that name, I was expecting some version of the old Bennigan's, but in reality O'Charley's felt more like a Denny's with a nice separate bar area attached. In any event, there was a nice family restaurant vibe and comfortable seating. Our dinner was a 3 star experience for my and closer to 4 for Gayle. The chicken in my quesadilla was a bit rubbery and although I cleaned my plate, it was just OK. Gayle's Black-N-Blue salad was considerably better. We were also here for some adult beverages of which my local craft beer and her Bombay Sapphire Martini suited her just fine. Stopped in here for lunch and there weren't very many people inside. They have a large parking lot and several seating options inside from booths to tables to bar seating. We were seated right away and the hostess was pretty friendly. It took a good while for our waitress to come and take drink orders but that was ok because I was busy looking over the pretty massive menu. We got our drinks and placed our appetizer and food order at the same time. We waited a good little while to get our food but when it came out it was nice and hot. I opted to get the honey drizzled southern fried chicken, baked potato and broccoli. Can't really mess up broccoli and the baked potato was pretty small but good. The chicken had a nice crunch to it and the meat itself was moist and tender. The honey drizzled on top really made it great. Overall I was happy with my food. My only complaint was that the windows and booths were pretty grimy and needed a good cleaning and I felt like our waitress was only doing her job and nothing more. Updating after having a few pretty good meals delivered during the pandemic. We had an issue with some food during one, but they made it right. They send plenty of rolls, and I love the pepper jack slices! One very important piece of info. If you order for delivery, use a website like btown menus or whoever lists them. My boyfriend was craving o'charleys and I have to suffer from eating mediocre food. Our server was nice at first but became overbearing. If I wanted something else to drink I would have said something when you came over to check on us. That really got on my nerves for some reason. We came for dinner. The entire part was satisfied. Drinks were great- we also tried their cotton candy Shirley temple which everyone agreed was delicious even though it was very very sugary. I liked the fish and chips, but I felt really sick later- be warned it is very greasy! My boyfriend liked his prime rib pasta, my friends tried the ribs, and a salad, and they seemed satisfied. We all shared some artichoke spinach dip which was pretty good. I do not suggest the caramel pie- it is literally just a was of caramel with whip cream. It's not bad it's just... The PECAN CRUSTED CHICKEN TENDER SALAD is great, but to make it healthier, I have them sub out the pecan crusted chicken for grilled chicken. It saves loads of calories and tastes better in my opinion. To counteract the healthier option, I also order the PEPPERJACK CHEESE WEDGES, which are excellent. You can also chow down on the rolls that come with your meal...Soft hot and delicious. Stay far far away from the NASHVILLE HOT CHICKEN... it is horrible. I love spicy food but the individual spices they put in this thing are not authentic and are very cumin heavy. If you're eating in Bloomington you're close enough to drive 4 hours south and get the real thing from Prince's Hot Chicken or Hattie B's. read more

very slow service around 3:30 pm and not many people in the restaurant. my husband didn't get the side salad he ordered. I ordered the southwest chicken bowl which had no flavor and the rice was so crunchy I couldn't even chew or stomach one bite. I have no idea if it's old rice but bacteria gets in rice quickly. the serve said she's comp some of the chicken bowl and the salad yet she did not do that. took us a half hour just to get a corrected ticket without the salad and no adjustment on the bad chicken bowl. It's my first and last time going to this place. One star only, (and I am being very generous) only because the rolls, 1 piece of fried chicken and the salad was passable. I also say that considering anyone can make a salad. That small part of the meal is the only aspect worth positively mentioning. The table service was odd, sparse, and awkward. The guy (host or manager ? ) who seated us was a bit over the top and in your face with his greeting and presentation. We had: The endless salad and soup (big mistake), and the fried chicken dinner (semi-mistake). I tried the harvest chicken 'soup' and then eventually the potato 'soup'. They were absolutely both not what I expected. The harvest chicken soup was a thick slurry of a cream soup that had barely anything in it. It had a few egg noodles and chunks cubes of rubbery prefab formed chicken in it along with a scant bit of minced (practically invisible) veggies. The potato soup was no better. It was so thick, it really should have been passed off as a potato casserole. The chicken dinner was passable only because the chicken was adequate. I told the host manager about our meal after he asked us how it was. I thought to myself,.... this is the day I will tell him completely nicely and honestly how I saw and experienced it. This was after I asked him if he really wanted the truth. I also told him I hoped he welcomed and appreciated feedback whether it was positive or negative respectively. Usually I just want to leave, but this time I went for it. I explained to him hat described in my review earlier, he acted a bit put out and never offered any compensation or real sympathy at the very least. I almost thought for a moment he was going to get really weirded out by the look on his face. He just defended the chicken soup by saying that it was made from scratch. Horrible food and service. The waiter, while very nice, could not handle the few tables he had. We waited for him to take our drink order. Then waited for them. Then waited for him to take our order. We both ordered the soup and salad because we didn't have much time. And you guessed it, we waited and waited. Granted, it was his first time he has done this so management should have helped him. When the food came we had the wrong dressing for the salad. The loaded potato soup had no potatoes. It was cheese soup with bacon. The chicken tortilla soup lost the chicken. It was not in the soup. From bad to worse! Today I decided to give O'Charley's Restaurant in Bloomington a second chance. I went there for dinner, the hostess told us that the waiting time was 20 min, it took 50 minutes. There were several empty tables, but they didn't have enough waiters to serve all the tables. After we were finally seated, the waitress that was supposed to attend our table walked by my table several times and completely ignored us. She was just talking to another waitress that was in training, but they were not busy at all, (there were only 3 tables occupied in that section) they were just talking. We waited for 10 minutes and then we left. This is totally unacceptable, specially after waiting 50 minutes to be seated. A month ago, we went there with a group, they forgot to make one of the orders, the food for that person arrived when the rest were finishing their meals. Although our waiter was friendly, he kept forgetting simple things we asked for, like napkins and an extra plate. This restaurant's service is going from bad to worse. Will never go back there. We were visiting from out of town so this was a "new to us" chain. The hostess was lovely and took note of the fact that I use a rollator and seated us at a table rather than barstools or booth. That's when the trouble started. Although it was more than an hour before closing no one was seated in that section and a person was sweeping with the most obnoxious banging on the dust pan with every sweep. This went on for a while and then he came over to take our drink order. Since his demeanor said he was over it and wanted to go home, my husband asked to place the food order at the same time. He refused- said he had a system and we needed to follow it. He was surly when I asked a question about a menu item. After placing the order he went back to his obnoxiously loud sweeping/banging. A runner brought the food which was tasty and prepared as requested. This is when things turned, he suddenly became very attentive in an obsequious way. What a toad. We were seated in the bar area and the bartender was the only person serving. I explained that I had my code to check in and told the bartender and she never put it in the system. It was a long wait and the food was not worth waiting on. My advise is if you do not have the staff to service customers then shut down some of the tables. My friends and I went here for dinner one night because their rolls are really really good. With the exception of that, nothing else sticks out in my memory as being over the top--or even halfway good. We ordered steak (mistake #1) and that's one thing I'm super picky about in a restaurant. Although they told me I could not get it rare, I said to make it as close to rare as possible without breaking the rules. When my steak arrived, it was cooked medium well--in other words, inedible cardboard. I told the waiter and his response consisted of a lackluster apology and self-depricating mumblings.
