I literally never leave reviews, but I must with this situation. They "appear" as a nice, clean…read moredental practice, but I cannot emphasize enough to go somewhere else. When I called to make an appointment, they said they take my insurance. Then, immediately after my regular, routine dental appointment, they said I owed a copay of $80. I thought that was high, but I wasn't overly concerned. Well, a few weeks later, I get a bill for an additional $120. Again, for a ROUTINE dental visit. Come to find out they are NOT covered by my insurance. Their excuse was that they "take" my insurance, but they haven't been in-network for 4 years. WHY did you not say that when I called? You KNOW that's what people mean when they ask if you take their insurance. My insurance company lists their dentist as in network, but apparently it's at another location and Herald Family told me they've "been trying" to get it taken down. I'm sorry, you've been out of network for four years, and you can't get them to remove you from the website? What a lousy excuse. I also had to wait 30 minutes to see a dentist after my cleaning was done because the dentist I was supposed to see was at lunch. Don't schedule appointments at lunch time if you can't see your patients. Stay so far away!

I have been a patient at Herald Family Dentistry since 2009 and have sent many people to this…read morepractice. I have had many great experiences with unpleasant dental work with Dr. Herald. I would highly recommend him and any of the staff working there. Recently, my husband went after years of knowing he needed to. I talked the place up because I was confident he'd have a great experience and, like many people, he isn't a fan of the dentist and due to various reasons, he needed a lot of dental work. Dr. Frew made sure she humiliated, belittled, and excoriated him, even noting that her dental schooling was expensive when he noted finances were one reason he hadn't come in sooner. I notified the office after we got home and the office manager called me. She said she'd talk about it with Dr. Herald. Husband went in for an appointment with Dr. Herald and he seemed to have no clue or, if he did, he didn't see to care. He left without getting anything done and will not go back. I'm beyond disappointed. I'd recommend Dr. Herald, but not Dr. Frew.

They falsely advertise "emergency care" to basically get you in the door so they can do a full exam…read morewith X-rays and bill your insurance. Only after all that will they consider dealing with whatever you need emergently taken care of and usually that requires another appointment on another day. Kind of defeats the point of coming for urgent needs if you can't have something simple like a lost filling addressed. Maybe don't advertise emergent or urgent care unless your practice really intends to provide that kind of care. Overall definitely a business model and not a true healthcare model that prioritizes the patient and providing quality care. Would give zero stars if I could.

They repeatedly violated my HIPPA rights. The dentist and his assistants repeatedly asked me…read morepersonal, prying questions that had absolutely nothing to do with the work he was doing on my teeth. He and his staff made me extremely uncomfortable. When I expressed my concern, the dentist became rude and mean in a very patronizing way because I spoke up about it. On a subsequent visit, I arrived a few minutes late wearing a boot because my leg was injured, and the escalator wasn't working that morning in the building his office is located. When I walked in, he gruffly told me to sit down and open my mouth, then jabbed me hard with a needle with no warning to numb my teeth, in what I believed was retaliation, after I politely requested his staff to stop violating my privacy. In prior visits, he informed me what he was going to do. After treating me disrespectfully, he then rudely lectured me on being a few minutes late, that one occasion, like I was a child and not a grown woman, never acknowledging the accessibility issues in his building that morning. His assistant took pictures of my teeth with a polaroid camera and X-rays at my first visit, but later claimed at my second visit, that they delayed that they didn't take pictures or couldn't locate them for my follow- up visit and took the same pictures again. I still wonder to this day, considering how violative they were of my privacy, what they did with the first set of pictures that I absolutely know they took. I should've never returned after that, considering how odd that my pictures disappeared. The first thing the lady did was take pictures of those teeth. I have always had bright white teeth; yet after multiple visits there, I noticed little nicks and stains in my teeth that were not there before I went. Be would sand teeth that he was not working on. I never felt comfortable with that, as I've never had a dentist do that before, which might explain the nicks. That was also the only time in my life where a hygienist cleaned my teeth and the dentist did not come in to check her work on my teeth after she finished. Is that even legal? The dentist also told me about a few of other patients that I had no idea were his patients, before he told me, violating their privacy too. He also repeatedly questioned me about my prior dentists, asking questions that I didn't believe was his business to ask. Ultimately, he became really mean and condescending at my last visit, in a scary way; his personality changed in such a bad way after I requested his office to respect my privacy, that I never went back. That was by far the worst most bizarre dental experience in my life.

I have NEVER received such rude service from a dentist in my life. My son who is 3 1/2 years old…read morehas visited the dentist every 6 months since he turned 1. He attends sees my family dentist at Cincinnati Dental Services, so he's not a stranger to the environment or process. However, during an incident at school he fell and injured his two front teeth a the top of his mouth. I was able to get him in to see our family dentist and after x-rays and 2 weeks of monitoring, they began to discolor and she recommended they be extracted by a pediatric dentist. In my effort to stay within my network, I traveled from West Chester to Florence after reviewing Dr. Bathiany's online reviews. The front office team and waiting room was average, at best. My wait was approximately 15 minutes, which was fine and upon being called to the back we were taken into an open office (no door, just walls on either side of us that basically served as spacers so there is no confidentiality). Although I explained when making my appointment the reason for my visit, the dental assistant was unaware of why I was there, nor did she have the x-rays. No problem, I had pictures of them and called my dentist office who promptly sent them forward. Dr. Bathiany eventually came over. 1st - He did not introduce himself to me, say hello, or ask the reason for my visit. 2nd - He immediately started speaking quite loudly which immediately made my son nervous (3 year olds are not the most trusting, especially in a clinical setting). 3rd - He picked up my file and loudly proclaimed, "An Aetna DMO???!!! You have the worst insurance out there!! ??" He was so loud that another patient's mother peaked her head around the wall to see what was going on. 4th - He asked my son to sit in the chair and started to raise and lean it back without explaining to hime what he was going to be doing, which really rubbed me the wrong way as my son was clearly agitated. He then expected me to hold him down, for the exam. Given that I brush my son's teeth daily, I knew they were discoloring, but he seemed determined to show me. When I said it wasn't necessary, he immediately got annoyed with me and began to test me on my knowledge about whether the teeth were loose or in tight. He then told me he didn't agree with extracting them. He wanted to do a pulpectomy. I disagreed as my son had an infection that was not going away which meant if it reached his permanent teeth, his adult smile would have been negatively impacted. 5th - Once we landed on extracting the teeth he told me that with my insurance being so bad, they would need a pre approval and that could take up to 4 weeks. That was in the beginning of October, and I have yet to receive follow up communication from Dr. Bathiany or his office personnel. I eventually had the service completed with Dr. Goodell at (http://www.outstandingdentalteam.com). I wish I had gone to her first as she provided an OUTSTANDING consult, took an x-ray, and extracted the teeth all in a single visit! Dr. Bathiany and team a little bit of kindness, dignity, professionalism = respect which goes a long way.
