Service department is not helpful and aggressive, they told me our family vw atlas that we bought from them( BRAND NEW) that now has 9500 miles on it needed new rotors based on our driving and potentially Maine weather. We keep it in a garage, I drive it daily with my daughter an drive conservatively... we have never had a vehicle that we purchased brand new need breaks and rotors ( we usually trade them in within 2-3 years). When I tried to explain this to the service manager he told me the way I was speaking I wasn't going to get any help. I didn't yell, or say anything mean I just asked for him to let me speak. ( my daughter 11 mos old, was sleeping in the car). VW I think in general is a mistake and this Augusta location is terrible, we should have stuck with Charlies. read more

Your service department and the lies they tell. Quoted the price with alignment and then alignment not done. When asked why and get told John from sales quoted you that and shouldn't have. Make that make sense. A salesman answers calls for service and gives you a quote? Then when alignment is scheduled, says they can't do it because the bolts to the control arm are warped and it's now a liability to the service department if it breaks. Isn't any work you perform in service a liability??? Called Capital City next door to see if they could do it and they said let me guess, you just came from Oconnors and they are notorious for doing that. Spent over $2100 at Oconnors and will never go back or refer them. Poor customer service. read more

I would like to first start my review by saying that I got a great deal on the truck price, which might answer the questions as to why I had so many problems... When I purchased the vehicle back in April 2024, which is a 2015 GMC Sierra SLE pick up truck with 62,000 miles, I expected there to be a few issues with a 9 year old vehicle, scratches, etc. I was informed that the brakes were brand new. While test driving at the time, I heard squeezing and felt a little vibration when braking, but new brakes will sometimes do that. I also noticed that the dash said, "CAL", which instead it should indicate the direction of travel (north,, south, etc) and when they sent the truck over to get the recall of the drivers side mirror done, they said they fixed the calibration of the GPS/Compass and I was told to drive, "a couple hundred miles" and it will be all set. Fast forward 10k miles and 2 months and still doesn't work. The recall repaired mirror still vibrates, which is the recall itself. So I'm wondering if they even did it? I reached out to the dealership and I was asked to reach out to service. They (service) told me I would need to drop the vehicle off for at least a day or two, without being offered a rental. Because I live 3+ hours away, I couldn't afford to do that so I had the rear rotors replaced and then had to have the entire compass components replaced in order to get functionality of the compass. $1000ish later and it's done. I was referred to this dealership from a close friend of mine, who has referred several people of my understanding, but I would think long and hard before giving this dealership any of your hard earned money unless it's a brand new vehicle under full warranty. Even when I left the dealership, they told me that I do not get a full tank of gas when I buy a vehicle there. Which I have never heard of before, but every dealership is different and I accepted it. At the same time they asked me to hold onto the note Through their finance company for at least three months so that they could get commission on it. I am immediately changed banks because of the experience and never gave their financial institution a single payment before refinancing. My sales person was awesome, but he could only give me the information that he was given and I hold no animosity towards him. I even reached out to him before making this review and he told me I was supposed to have been offered a rental, which I was not. read more

Overcharged by nearly $10,000. I recently bought a vehicle because I needed one badly for a new job. I then got a remote position and had to sell my car. When listing the car, I found that I had been charged more than $10,000 over the value of the car and am now severely underwater with my loan and no way to sell this overpriced mistake. I cannot believe they charged me this much and that I trusted that they were being honest. read more

I bought a used car 6 months ago from salesman Zach messaged him months ago to let him know I was having issues he never got back to me I got my car in today to be told breaks and rotors need to be replaced Zach stated they installed new ones before sales and I would be responsible for the repair cost I have never owned a vehicle where I have had to change breaks in 6 months 5000 miles I would not recommend this place to anyone nor would I ever go back!!!!! read more

When you hear the phrase, "It's all about the money", that would be a very accurate description of our experience at O'Conner VW. We purchased a 2020 Jetta on October 8, 2021. All went smoothly with sales and finance. Once we signed on the dotted line we were escorted to the waiting room and told that the car would be serviced, inspected and be brought out for us shortly. There we sat for two hours. No explanation, no communication...we just sat and waited. When the car finally showed up out front we went out, got in and left. While riding home we found a couple things that we were concerned about and so once home I emailed the salesman. We were told upon leaving to be in touch with any questions, "just shoot me an email if you have any questions or needs at all." I got no response so emailed again the next day. No response. Within a few days with no response my husband called O'Conner VW and had to hang up before the call was answered. After seeing our number on caller ID, (I assume) only then did we get a call from the salesman saying that he was just going to contact us. Our problems/concerns were explained and my husband was told the salesman would get back to him once he had looked into it. In the month since then we have heard nothing from O'Conner VW. We're left to assume that in this situation, it IS all about the money. We have purchased more cars than most, from many dealerships in our 30+ years together and both agree that we this is not the type of customer service that we have been used to. As far as dealerships go, come here and speak with Jeff. He's pretty much one of the best salespeople you could ever ask for. He doesn't pressure you, try any dirty salesperson tricks, or try to hard sell you. I think he understands that if you're going to buy, you will be coming back. In May of 2019 my husband and I were at O'Connor VW having our 2017 Golf serviced. We also have a 2009 VW Jetta Wagen and mentioned that the sunroof leaked like a sieve after several repairs at another dealership, some done while still under warranty. This was a casual discussion between my husband, myself and the receptionist. The service mgr, named Ryan, overheard us and said he had a "workaround" and could fix it for us... We were hesitant and told him how many times this had been attempted and that we were considering a different vehicle, rather than repair it. He confidently stated that he could fix it and that even with the high mileage we would likely get another two years out of the car. We said we'd think about it and before we left, he said, give me a call. We can fix it and it will NOT leak again. On our forty-five minute drive home we discussed it and decided we'd call him and hear what was involved. We did call Ryan, again he stated he had a workaround the recommended VW repair ( that had been done before and clearly did not work) We told him that the car had an odor coming from the water that had to be shop-faced out each time it rained. He said, we should replace the carpet and that would eliminate the odor, fix the leak attend to some other minor repairs and have a fresh start with the vehicle. This came at a very big price, $3300. 00 more than the car was worth...but, Ryan reminded us that this would be less than car payments if we got another two years out of the vehicle. This was in May. By July the car once again leaked liked crazy and the odor from the carpet had returned. After some heated discussion, Ryan took the attitude of, oh well, we tried. We pursued our discussion and he agreed to "let us" bring the car back in to be evaluated. They now pulled the seats from the car and let it dry completely out for three weeks. We picked the car up in late August, the smell had relented somewhat. In early October we had our first big rainstorm since we'd gotten the car back. Once again, we were out with the shop-vac and it was hopelessly leaking and the odor unbearable. We called O'Connor, I spoke with Chris Crowell, the Gen Mgr and he knew the situation and admitted to us that Ryan should not have recommended the vehicle be repaired, carpet be replaced and a rear suspension coil be repaired, bringing the total of the work well over the worth of the vehicle. As I spoke with Chris, who by the end of this understood and seemed amenable to some sort of compromise.. we were asking O'Connor to spilt the cost of the repairs with us... Given the circumstances this seemed reasonable. He went to the owner, Randy Hutchins and asked him if they could infect do that. No was the answer. They wanted the car back, once again, to try and "repair" it. We have been inconvenienced and lost faith in the workmanship and integrity of this dealership and said no. In desperation to recoup some of our loss, I thought ( stupidly) that perhaps they would give us an exceptional deal on a new vehicle...they offered us a $1000 coupon... bringing the price to what we saw listed at many other dealerships. So, after all that, a big nuthin:( Bottom line, I believe this was done in bad faith from the beginning and should not have been allowed to happen. Well, you may say, it's your fault... not entirely.. we go to experts, because we are not experts. We trusted their "expertise" and they walked away with $3300. read more

Worst dealer ever. We bought a new Jetta there. Took it in for the 50k tune up. I booby trapped the car because I was suspicious of the other times. They did NOTHING. No road test, to tire rotating, no oil change. Total scam with a monster bill. When I confronted them, they yelled at! Said I was an asshole for not trusting them. Scoundrels! read more

Highly recommend O'Connor Volkswagen and their Sales Team. Buying a car can be a stressful experience but it was anything but with O'Connor. Bubba Davis, my salesman, was patient, knowledgeable, extremely helpful and Gary Hawkins, the money guy, stepped me through the whole $$ process. I had shopped around, done some homework so had lots of questions plus knowing so little about cars - so little - they answered all my questions about cars and financing with professionalism and experience. I read the review from C.R. posted in August 2017 and was shocked. My experience was the total opposite to his. I found all of the salespeople personable and as I said Bubba and Gary went out of their way to be patient with my anxiety over buying a car. I highly recommend Bubba Davis, Gary Hawkins and O'Connor Volkswagen. FYI - I bought a 2015 Subaru Forester with only 16k miles at a good price and couldn't be happier with it. read more

I had them find me a used part through their supplier...and they got me the wrong part TWICE! They refuse to correct the mistake due to a no returns policy of their supplier and now I am stuck with a very expensive paper weight! read more
