This was our first Caribbean cuisine trial and that too in Florida. First attempt and we were surprised with the taste. This place is in quite neighborhood next to super8 and is a gem of dark. Awesome tasting food with super awesome people who are running it. Chicken was so tender and with well balanced taste. This gave us courage to try more Caribbean food in this 5 days trip to Florida.

Great Haitian restaurant at convenient prices. Located in the Rodeo plaza on Krome. This family owned and operated restaurant really has great friendly service. The restaurant is a decent size, decorated simple yet nicely. The menu is straight to the point and if there's ever something not listed on the menu you can always ask and if they can accommodate they will. Lunch specials will leave you full and your pockets not hurting. Their most popular and traditional dish is the griot (fried pork chunks) full of flavor, a Lil greasy but just add some pikliz (our Haitian hot sauce) and it'll soak it all up especially with the bannnann peze( fried banana or tostones),rice, and salad it come with or you can change the sides to the mac n cheese,Cole slaw, or a macaronni salad and more. These traditional flavors is a must try for all...besides who doesn't like the Caribbean. ..we got flavor!!!

    Rice with small red beans

O'Deeny's is located in a dodgy section of stores hidden off the road so that it's quite easy to pass by without knowing "Thar be good food yonder!". I'm looking at the great reviews and thinking, "Cheese on bread! Close enough to the Caribbean - this may be the real deal!" Sofie and I shared the goat stew with two portions of rice. Absolutely delicious! This isn't one of those "cook it yesterday and ladle it out for the week" places. She cooks it up and the flavors do a little dance in your mouth. The rice was had small red beans mixed in. This was an altogether tasty and satisfying meal. My beverage of choice was passion fruit. Refreshing and an healthy atonement I'll bank for future unhealthy beverages. The ambiance of the restaurant is wanting. It looked as if all the tables, chairs and decorations had been quickly moved in by Starving Students moving company an hour before we arrived. Whatever. It's all about the food here - if you want something unforgettable to enjoy for dinner, this is the place! This is a small restaurant. I perceived the chef waited our table, cooked our food and rang up or ticket. She has a cheery disposition and a mischievous look in her eyes that that hide behind that welcoming smile. That look says, "I've a real surprise for you! Food so tasty it will knock your socks off!" ...and so it did.

My first time eating Haitian food, and this stewed fish hit the spot!!! Perfect seasoning and so fulfilling! I will be back!!

I go for the fish!!! That's my dish! Love the conversations from the hosts! Family atmospheres are always best!

Great food. Extremely poor and slow service. Pretty nice and clean atmosphere.

Food was delicious. Service was AWFUL and slow... 15 minutes for the menu... had to wait 10 minutes for silverware. 30 minutes for the check... the check was wrong. Tried to charge us for an extra entree.

Tucked away in a shopping center, this place is a gem of a find! If you're looking for authentic Caribbean food and a feeling of being a member of the family, then you must pop into O'Deeny's!

    Fried red snapper dinner

This is my 2nd time eating here with my family and the food is great! Sometimes you go to a resturant and have a great 1st experience then go again and the food isnt as good, well not this place. The food is consistant. The great service is consistant. Very family orientated but still very nice for a date night also. We dined in, I ordered the fried red snapper. The fish had great flavour!!! and was fried perfectly. My husband ordered the lambi and that was also amazing very flavorful, tender and not to spicy. Also the cook is very accommodating she made the lambi for my husband even though it wasnt on the menu (Of course we called hours in advance) Hands down this is best Haitian Caribbean resturant!!!

Menu on 11/22/2017. There is a list of soft drinks on the back; also shakes ($6) in tropical fruit flavors: soursap, guava, mango

This restaurant is probably difficult to locate under the best of times. It was particularly difficult for us because we were not from the area, driving after dark, and the sign for the strip mall is broken (possibly a casualty of Hurricane Irma?) In addition, the restaurant does not have a lighted sign of its own and is sandwiched between an unopened Montessori school on the right and another yet-to-open business on the left. It's worth looking for. You open the doors to a boldly colorful Caribbean interior and the heady odor of rich spices. The food is incredible; my husband said of the roast pork that it was enough to make a person who keeps kosher go treif. Alas, his beef stew turned out to be spicy, so I had to swap the delectable pork for his still-delicious but not quite as heavenly stew. If we were ever back in Homestead, we would definitely go back. 4/16/2019 We're back! We both ordered the fried pork (pork griot). The ranch salad dressing was on the side, as was sauce for the rice/pork. Unfortunately, the one extra that *should* have been on the side was not: pikliz, a sort of Caribbean kim chee or spicy sauerkraut topped the meat. In addition to providing unnecessary (and in our case unwanted) hot spiciness and vinegar, it also rendered the delicately crunchy meat cubes soggy. The fried pork was still tasty, but not as wonderful as on our first visit. We splurged on guava (him) and papaya (me) shakes ($6) which were sugary and milky, with a light real-fruit flavor. The guava was a bit better; the papaya reminded me a bit of dried papaya, but this might because the variety of papaya I'm used to is not the type grown around here. FWIW, although the window coverings now make the restaurant easy to find once you're in the strip mall, the mall remains tricky to find because its sign is still broken and unlit. Subtracting one star for not putting the pikliz on the side and leisurely (though warm and friendly) service, which resulted in my husband drinking my water in addition to his own + first refill.

Curry Chicken with Congris, Tostones, and Macaroni Salad ... SO DELICIOUS

You could drive past this place for years and never know it was here. I've been here twice and have to say that both times... the food is amazing. There may not be much ambience, but it is very clean inside and run by a very nice woman who makes these home cooked meals that will have your stomach smiling long after you walk out the door. It may take a while to get your food, but that's because it's being made with love. This place is such a gem, I'm really happy to have found this new spot. If you go, be sure to order a Soursop shake with your Jerk Chicken... #Staygreat

Checked out Chefs on the Run Gastro Pub while driving through Homestead and ordered the habanero…read morechicken along with the award winning burger for the table. The person taking our order was friendly and gave us a heads up that the chicken had a decent amount of heat, which I appreciated. Food took a little time to come out, but everything arrived fresh and hot. The burger was juicy without being messy, and the habanero chicken had good flavor beyond just spice. What stood out most was how relaxed the atmosphere felt even during the dinner rush. Staff stayed attentive and kept checking on tables without hovering too much. It felt like a solid local place people actually return to often.

Found this gem while in Homestead, FL. Located on a corner near Krome. This is a Puerto Rican…read morerestaurant with all the best Puerto Rican fare! It's decorated in typical hibaro fashion (iykyk). There is both indoor and outdoor seating. There is street parking and I think you might be able to park behind the restaurant. We couldn't figure out how to get there...lol. The service was friendly and the waitress gave great suggestions. For our appetizer we had the Alcapurria's. They were sooooo good! For my main, I had the El Yunque Burger. It was delicious! Had everything but the kitchen sink in it but the combo worked! There was even mofongo in the burger. My fiance had the El Pork Belly tapa with Truffle fries. The El Pork Belly was scrumptious! Fell off the bone with tostones or fried green plantains ( for my English speaking folks). The Truffle fries were also very good. I can't recommend this place enough! Go there when in Homestead. You won't regret it!
