I have been a patient of Dr. Nick Lindsay's for over 10 years. I met him when he was working for a vet clinic in Troy, MO and I had a farm there. He initially was my horse vet and did a wonderful job with both our minis and our riding horses. At the time, I had a different vet for my dogs. See, I'm that crazy lady that rescues every stray I see. I've probably fostered over 50 dogs (and some cats and some horses) to date. One day an emergency arose and I needed a dog vet in close proximity. Dr. Lindsay was so kind and patient. I knew immediately I was going to move all of my business to him. After I learned of Dr. Lindsay starting his own small animal clinic, I decided to follow him even though it meant a much longer drive for me (about 40 minutes each way). It was worth it to have his experience with my animals and also because of the quality of care he and his staff provide. My only complaint was he was no longer doing horses. Bummer! Shortly thereafter I moved to Jefferson County - two counties away! But because of the extraordinary care (and folks, I'm not exaggerating) I decided I'd make the 110 minute drive, each way, to still see him. Dr. Lindsay has cared for my precious pets, and my many fosters since. He saved the life of my dear Carmelita when she needed emergency surgery and was at death's door. Post surgery, he informed me he'd never seen a live dog with organs in as poor a shape as hers (she'd been a puppy mill dog) but she was one tough cookie. She lived six more happy years after that day. She was approximately 16 years old when she passed and he took wonderful care of her. He also cared for my precious Oscar, who had SO many health issues. A ruptured eye, blindness, terrible knees, and congestive heart failure. Dr. Lindsay was compassionate, supportive and always had kind word and cuddle for my babies that were in such delicate health. So, to this day, more than six years after I moved two counties away, I still make that drive. I have another vet now for my horses, barn cats and chickens, but Dr. Lindsay will continue to be my dog vet. His professionalism is second to none, he so obviously cares for his patients and about the feelings of their owners, and he has a full service hospital with access to specialist as needed. He has never guided me in the wrong direction, he has always been honest with me about the prognoses, and he has always been fair with me about the charges. What vet, these days, still does their own after-hours emergency services, answers a frantic text on Christmas Day and meets you in the middle of the night because your precious pet needs to be seen? I am dreading the day, if it ever comes, when he no longer provides emergency services, because going to see one of those rotational students at the so-called emergency clinics is not for me! Lastly, Dr. Lindsay's clinic staff is always professional, friendly, informative and caring. The building is spotless and the equipment is up to date. When I first took my new adopted dog to them they were very helpful. I was looking for help with a rescue that needs some extra tlc. But today the vet (Dr.Bowen) spoke to me in such a rude demeanor that I would not recommend ever going here. While the staff is great maybe she needs some education on how to speak to clients and understand that a visit is stressful for the dog and owner. We are not kids and know our pets. Maybe listen to your clients and if you don't want to work with behavioral problems in pets then don't say you will. She even had her staff cancel the prescription at the pharmacy and didn't even give us a chance to get a new vet. What ever happened to being a professional? read more

We having been using OVMC for many years, with our ever increasing pets and pet needs. Recently we had a very sick cat that had been a patient prior to his illness, going in yearly for his exams and vaccines. The staff, vets and vet techs have always taken very good care of him and all of our other animals. When our cat started showing signs of renal disease Dr. Bowen worked with me and our cat to get him to the best place we could get him to, while seeing which direction his care needed to go. In the end, our little guy became too ill to fight anymore, even with almost 2-3 vet calls, visits or tests a week and the day came where it was time to let him go. Dr. Lindsay and staff were incredibly kind and thoughtful through the entire process, and made it as painless as they could. We still have 5 animals that will continue their yearly exams, vaccines, teeth cleanings, overall basic healthcare and if needed, their medical care and end of life needs from these wonderful people at OVMC! read more

I LOVE OVMC!! They have taken the greatest care of all of our animals for over 10 years. They are kind, compassionate, and professional. I have the greatest amount of trust in them, and they have always been amazingly reasonably priced! The doctors know that our animals are family, and don't take advantage of that by trying to inflate prices! We had to put our cat of 19 1/2 years to sleep. I wasn't sure that I was doing the right thing, but the doctor, though VERY BUSY, stopped what he was doing, listened to us through tears, gave us the facts, and allowed us to make our own decision. On Friday, 12/15/17, my most precious 17 1/2 year old Maltese passed away in her sleep. OVMC provided the cremation services and again showed the greatest compassion and kindness! I was so incredibly moved when I retrieved her remains! These angels on earth made an imprint of her tiny little foot with her name, gave me a beautiful velvet pouch with wildflower seeds to build a memorial garden in her memory, a heartfelt sympathy card with special messages from all of the staff, and a beautiful urn. I am devastated at losing her, but this compassion and kindness was overwhelmingly comforting to me. Dr. Nick is our vet for life. Our 10yo lab hated... HATED going to our old vet. We just assumed she didn't like vets in general. Nope. She is always eager to get out of the car and drags us through the door. Dr. Nick takes his time to make sure we are all on the same page, always errs on the side of caution and never quick to jump to surgery or x-rays (like our old vet was... talk about $$$$$$$!!!). They are quick to get us in when we have an "urgent" matter and always get her records off to the boarder for us. They are not expensive. You get what you pay for, and in general, they are on par with the other vets we called around (before we chose them). read more
