It was fun doing the shoot and the lady taking pictures was great. My complaints are: even on their website they show dogs but dogs are not allowed? They take the pictures with an SLR camera but then say you can't have digital copies. You literally see them putting filters on the pictures digitally. To have my pics blown up I had to take an 8x10 to a FedEx and have them scan it in 600dpi. There were inherent color artifacts from the scanner across the photos. I tried to fix them with photoshop and I got most but not all. They are very noticeable on the expensive giant pics on my wall now. I feel like it was a disservice to me to not offer digital copies, even for a price and even after buying x amount of pictures at the store. read more

Pros : Its hard not to fall in love with the pictures :D We loved every aspect of this mini 15 minute photoshoot ! It was fast, stylish and glam-wonderful (; (yup, I totally just made that a word)... The price is reasonable, 2 people $50, they sell several different frames for $4 (: came with 4 (5X7) Pictures ! We might do this some time again in the future and dress up different, you can pose so many ways. If you think of going, I suggest you look at the photo albums before to get an idea of the many poses. The lady that took our pictures was nice, informative and helpful. Great job !! Cons : We felt that the pictures were taken very quickly, with little time to figure out what pose we wanted to do. Just a bunch of flashing lights everywhere, but someway - somehow it worked out for the best?...the pictures are clear, they really give you that feeling of being back in time. When my cousin was visiting from Japan, one of the things she wanted to do was to get her picture taken in old western attire. We went to the other old time photo shop only to find that it was closed. Using my trusty Yelp app, I searched for another shop. I knew there was another shop because my Yelp buddy Kali D., had written a review for Old Time, and she was pleased. I found them and gave them a call, the lady who answered told me that she closes at six and it was already past five thirty. We cut our shopping short and high tailed it. We arrived and the lady went over the costumes and prices. She was ever so patient, while I had to translate everything. My daughter and cousin both were dressed in their costumes, and had several different poses, all within fifteen minutes. We selected the pictures we wanted as it was displayed on the computer monitor. The whole process took a little longer than thirty minutes. I didn't feel so guilty keeping the lady past her closing time, as a group of girls walked in and wanted their pictures taken. My cousin was ecstatic with her little memento of Old Sac. I can't say enough about how patient the sales lady was and how she made my cousin feel comfortable in an attire she never could wear back home. read more

Having found two old time photo places in Sacramento my friends and I chose this one. The photos turned out great and the woman working there was very helpful in looking over the photos with us to make a decision on which were the best, as well as sending us the digital copy. The digital came only in jpeg rather than raw, and cost a bit more, but was worth it. My only note of improvement for the place would be a bit of an update on the costumes. I know they get a lot of use, however they are in need of some upkeep or replacement. read more

What a fantastic experience! Very friendly and accommodating. Takes about twenty minutes. First, you sorta pick the style of clothing, from toddler to old timer.. from gun slinger to gentleman. Or bar maid to proper... Really fun! The photos go quick. I recommend smiles, but the rough and tough look works too! Prices are good. $45 for one person. Then, $5 for each additional person. You pick the sets you want on two sheets. Several to choose from..The frames are additional $5 each. Myself and my two kids got out with "the works" with two 8x10s and frames for $65-70. My Hubby had the great idea of getting Old Time photos done of the fam for Christmas Gifts for our parents, which is a wonderful idea because our parents really do not need much lately so why not a fun photo! We had been putting it off and off, finally last minute yesterday evening (12/19) I called the store to see how late they would be open. Mandy answered the phone, she explained she would be closing in 45 minutes but if confirmed we would coming she would stay and wait for us. After confirming everyone was home and ready, we called and said we were on our way. Ugh, it took us an hour to actually get into the store, due to traffic and parking in Old Sac but we made it. Mandy was waiting patiently for us. This is a tiny place located right on 2nd street across from Fanny Ann's. Mandy was very helpful, showing us the type of outfits and various looks we can attempt to try. She tied me up in the corset with ease! So here is the funny thing, all the clothes are mix match colors, at 1st I was so confused but Mandy quickly reminded me, there is no color in the photo. . .the it's old time black and white! DUH!!! All of us were dressed (men just wear the clothes over their t-shirts) and ready to take picts. Mandy staged our photo set with props and advised us to smile, be serious, ladies only smile, point guns, etc! We had a great time! And it took maybe 20 -30 minutes! The hard part was choosing the photos but after some negotiation we had our set list. For four people it was $52 which included 2 sheets of photos. We added an additional set for $12.95. 2 or more additional sheets would have been $10 each. Oh and the great part is that you can choose several poses, not just one. Photos are printed and cut within minutes and we were out the door with our gifts. Customer Service AKA Mandy was wonderful! I was very surprised to not see any reviews about this place. Me and my girlfriend were looking to do an old time photo for sometime now and we luckily walked by this place when walking around old town sac. When we walked in we were greeted by two very friendly ladies. Even though they were quite busy (it was a Saturday afternoon) the lady at the front counter immediately approached us asked us what style picture we were interested in doing. I chose gun slinger while my girlfriend chose the "floozie" or whatever it's called. She then let me chose from a wide range of cowboy hats and guns while my girlfriend went in the back to try on different corsets and whatever else floozie's wear. She then also brought me a few different overcoats and other things an old fashioned gun slinger would wear. We were very pleased with our outfits to say the least. They offer many different photo packages with different size pictures. The one we chose, four 5x7's, allowed us to chose up to FOUR DIFFERENT pictures! Some of the other options that I remember were - two 8x10's or two 5x7's and four wallets. Overall, I had a wonderful experience at O'Grady's Oldtime Photos and would recommend it to anyone. After talking to the friendly lady at the front desk I learned it had been passed down in the family for over 40 years which I always like in a business. The bf and I decided to hit up old Sac for a nice mini-vacation weekend. It was also our anniversary so I knew I wanted us to either get caricatures done or old time-y photos done just for fun to look back at. We came here Saturday night and had a great time!! I wish I could remember her name, but I believe she is the owner and she was SO friendly. I had never taken these types of pictures before because I'm plus size and i figured the costumes wouldn't fit and it would be all awkward......... but nope! She made me feel super comfortable and explained they have super cute outfits for all sizes. We had fun getting dressed and posing for the pictures. She had fun with it too, somewhere along the lines of: "Be serious!! Now be crazy! Be silly! Smile! Look at each other! Now do whatever you want!" They have tons of props to work with, different old school guns and and boas and cowboy hats. Our pictures turned out even better than I expected! They do have preset packaging options but she allowed us to kinda create-our-own package to our liking, which was really sweet of her. So if you are wanting something different, it doesn't hurt to ask. For the two of us, we got a modified package D. I can't remember exactly but I'm pretty sure we got two 5x7s with different poses rather than one 8x10 and one 5x7. We also got the "wanted dead or alive" frames and another frame, too. Total for everything was about $60, which was not bad at all! Another great aspect is that we were in and out of there in like 15-20 minutes. When you finish changing back into your regular clothes, she has the pictures pulled up on her screen and let's you do process of elimination. I had a really great experience here! They have more options for vintage clothing than McGees (both photoshoot are fun). My Mom-in-law wanted to go for a Victorian/Downton Abbey theme, we loved the outfits to choose from. After reading reviews, I decided to try this place. I came with my two sons. It was $55 which included everything. We were able to choose the theme/costumes. She helped us with our wardrobe. We were able to pick out our own accessories. She took a number of poses and we were able to select which ones we liked best. It comes with a photo package and additional photos were available for a nominal fee. They also have clever backgrounds/matting that you could get such as a wanted theme. It was quick, easy and reasonably priced. The pictures were great quality. They also have gift certificates. I had my adult son who has autism. I explained this to her and she was patient and kind which helped make it a great experience. As we were leaving a large crowd came in and I asked her how does she do it. She said "oh no, I love doing this" You won't regret coming here! read more

I've been to a similar shop in Santa Cruz a couple of years back, and the customer service compared to that other awful Santa Cruz place and this lovely shop is like night and day. If you're going to take pictures for this price, trust me, this place will give you a much more fun and relaxing experience. A very nice woman let us choose our outfits and helped us with poses and outfits that went together. The photographer took a couple of shots per pose to help us find the perfect ones later. We were in and out in a jiffy with the pictures we wanted. There was no rush and only patience and politeness on the photographer's part from beginning to end. I had the best time at O'Grady's! I am disabled and require the use of a wheelchair which has hindered me from getting old fashioned photos taken in the past. O'Grady's was able to completely accommodate me and the rest of my party. Terry was so nice and made us all feel very comfortable! One very friendly you get a few different choices on packages so you can find one to fit your need...they also help steer you to the perfect combo if you don't know what you want....it was fun and we got 8 poses to choose from and we're able to get 4 printed. Normally when we have done them in the past its extra to get the extra poses. Very happy with selection professionalism and friendliness. 5 stars but I would love to give it even more if I could I would...I left my watch at the shop...tried to retrieve it the next day be for we came home I am from southern California but they were not opened yet. I wanted to do a photo about a week ago.. When I was first coming into old sacramento I saw o Grady's. I told my boyfriend that we should go there, but I wanted to grab a bite to eat first. When we walked back over there, they were closed. I had myself set on going here, but it just didn't work out. We kept walking around and stumbled upon mcgees around the corner. We chose this shop after discovering that McGee's was closed during the business hours they have posted on their website. I'm so glad that we went with O'Grady's! We wanted to recreate my parents' wedding photo to celebrate their 36th wedding anniversary. We arrived at the shop in our own costumes with two mini dachshunds in tow, to make sure we matched the original photo as close at possible. The woman who helped us handled our loud crowd of people and dogs very well. She quickly set up the perfect backdrop and helped my mother find a hat to match the original photo. She posed us (and the dogs) perfectly for both the wedding photo and a family photo. She helped us choose from a wide range of print size and tone options (sepia, black and white, color etc). The quality of the prints is the best I've seen so far for digital photos and she helped us pick the perfect "old fashion: mats for our photos. She even gave us discounts for bringing our own costumes! The whole photo shoot went very fast and smoothly. We're beyond thrilled with our photos and we'll definitely be back soon. read more
