Thought I had left a feedback here a while back. But does not look like it. My view of them is unchanged from a lot of year of utilizing these guys. Just awesome and so helpful. Myself and two brothers went in there yesterday as we are going thru my dad's slides going back to the early sixties and forward. And I had been in the shop a few weeks ago getting an understanding of what we needed to do to convert these to electronic media. Yesterday, in the middle of maybe the fifth day of going thru the slides, the projector went out. And the projector is probably as old as the slides. Went in believing the light globe had gone out. These guy checked it out and went to work trying to find a globe that old. Not something sold these days. But they found one up stairs and likely buried eventually. The also offered advise on another part that was showing its age pretty well. When we got home, projector worked well and back to work we went. Thanks Photo Source. Although they did everything I asked and the service was kind and attentive. I was disappointed, by transferring 6 personal old VHS videos to a thumb drive, what started out at deposit of $150.00 ended at over $340. ouch! That was a LOT more than I was expecting. I've been driving by the store for several years and finally stopped in to have some old 8 mm video tapes converted to digital. The process was explained and the price was reasonable. I was promised they would be ready in a couple weeks but they were ready a couple days sooner. They were downloaded onto a 32 GB flash drive which worked great when I got home. I went to Photo Source today to inquire about a camera I recently purchased. It was giving me a continuous turn off/on the camera error message. Without a thorough examination of my camera, it was recommended that it probably was not cost-effective to repair the camera. Please note, the camera DOES work. It was a very simple solution and very cost effective (zero dollars). Thank God I did not take my camera to e-waste, as suggested. I knew about this location from photography class. Brought in some 35mm rolls to be developed and was not disappointed at all. Quality of photos was great for both digital and physical prints, all at a pretty reasonable price . Would definitely recommend for getting your film developed. read more

I woke up today with an idea of walking into a few camera stores just to see if they had a film camera I'd been eyeing for a long, long time. PhotoSource was my first stop because of how close it was to my house, and the only stop turns out! I regret that I did not get his name but I was very kindly helped here and my husband even ended up with his own film camera as well. We're both so excited!! The store has an impressive selection of all kinds of cameras and accessories in great condition, and they process film as well. I highly recommend them! I always go here to rent a lens for my photo sessions to try them out. The service is good, owner and staff are nice, the pricing is good and not too expensive for renting a lens and they have a wide variety of lenses available. I can't recommend this place enough, they did an absolute wonderful job and they do in house film developing so my film came back same day! I didn't get prints or scan my pictures but if you need film developed asap, this is your place! Try to get there earlier in the day ~ before 2pm and the film should be done that same day if they're not too busy. Pictures look phenomenal and they have a light built into their front desk and a magnifying glass so you can see your developed film pictures. I had a large print done the day before thanksgiving and they let me know that it was ready and that they were closing at five. I had a plumbing emergency and couldn't pick it up that day. I posted on a few Facebook groups asking if there was another place that I could go to the day after Thanksgiving to get another print made. Figured I would just have to eat the cost since Photo Source would not open again until the following Monday. The owner of the Photo Source company saw my post and met me there the day after Thanksgiving to give me my print even though they were closed until that Monday. They've always been a great source of service and I just had to let people know what a great company this is. read more

I've been coming here to develop my disposable cameras since last May and I haven't stopped coming. Photosource develops at a cheaper rate, is faster than any local pharmacy like CVS, and instead of prints they send you digital downloads of it. I have just had the honor of meeting Lorenzo at Photo Source in Sacramento, Ca. He made my day. At age 81 years I accepted a request to take pictures of my granddaughter's wedding not realizing how my camera equipment was. It had been 20+years since I used it. I decided to see Photo Source knowing I am 60+ miles away. I have to say, Lorenzo was so patient and understanding. He cleaned and replaced items I needed, explained how to use parts of the camera. If you shoot film, this place is the best. I go here to get all my color film developed here. They develop and scan Tuesdays and Thursdays, but sometimes I've gotten my scans on random days. Everyone's always super knowledgeable and friendly. Vhonn is the best. They also have a darkroom available for rent if that's your jam. read more

I have been getting my film developed by PhotoSource for a little over a year. Never once have I been disappointed in the results. I actually had film that expired in 2009 that they were able to develop beautifully! The fact that they also give access to black and white film developing is great. The staff here has been incredibly helpful and a wonderful resource when in my times of need for equipment rental. Regardless of the time frame, they've always been able to help me out with the exact gear I'm looking for, or some comparable items. It's so worth the drive to get here, and the smell of fixer really takes me back to my days at sac state. Just being in the shop makes you want to start shooting film and using a darkroom again, which I believe they also have rental opportunities for. I might have to look in to that some day! read more

This place is near my house and I drive by the storefront all of the time. I've poked in here several times to check out their great used film camera selection and have always been treated nicely. I've been going to mike's for my developing for years, though, and I hadn't thought about going to photo source for development and scans until I began to be pretty disappointed with Mike's quality of scans. I did a little test of shooting three rolls of the same film stock, using the same camera and took one roll here and two rolls to mike's. Results were pretty simple/straight forward. Photo source's results were great with a much quicker turnaround than mikes. Mikes standard scans are subpar, but mike's high res scans are essentially the same quality as photo sources scans. Photo source is a bit cheaper, too. Great alternative to mike's and nice to support a small local business. read more

"What i like about photographs is that they capture a moment that's gone forever, impossible to reproduce." -Karl Lagerfeld I was recently diagnosed with reoccurring "illness" called the "shutter bug" (i.e. Canon); however, upon discovering 'Photo Source', I believe the bug has become terminal. As a result, printing and rental gear are my only remedies towards this unrecoverable DSLR FF illness. Recently, I just finished a small side project for a friend, and realized my shot turned out better than expected. I called Photo Source to see what they can do, and Mike gave me some helpful tips in: editing, printing, shooting, and how to level the horizon through Lightroom/Photoshop. What really intrigued me, was when he started asking more detailed-questions, such as: my settings, aperture, ISO, light/dark graphs (actual picture provided on my project) tripod, three shots of the Sun to save the data/HDR, and other gear related questions. We also had a brief conversation about their printers vs. a high quality Ink (Canon Pro Pixma-10), and what sort of paper quality is recommended for this particular shot. I purchased the 12x18 and 8x12 glossy prints and was told to return the next 24 or 48 hours and give em a call. Got my prints two days after and upon closer examination I realized there was an issue on the 8x12. Borris apologized and reprinted the photo on the same day. Got my prints and was fully satisfied with the results--thanks Photo Source! I rented their Canon 580ex IIs before and the prices were reasonable. However, if you're planing to rent for the long-term uses (e.g. 1-2+ weeks) visit: http://www.borrowlenses.com/ for better deals. But if you need something last minute come here. Love, Love, Love this place. Just had them complete a restoration of a photo from the 50's for a friend. It was in terrible condition. I paid approximately 150 for 1.5 hours of work and the end product was spectacular. I had them enlarge it, mount it ready for framing. The gift was spectacular and my friend was over the moon. I've had Photo Source enlarge some of my photographs fairly large and frame them for my office. I have one from Egypt that they blew up, framed and I look at it over my desk every day. I'm an amateur photographer, a lay person. But I know what I like. They are very helpful in turning some of my favorite photos into works of art. I couldn't be happier with the service I received. The staff is friendly, knowledgable and incredible helpful. I was able to come in with barely any notice to rent an Epson projector($125) and the projection screen ($25) for two days. I was in a hurry to get to the wedding I was attending and this was a true mayday situation. They showed me how to use the equipment and even helped me load the screen in the car. They are such sweet angels here! I will most definitely come to them in the future for any of my photo needs. I purchased a canon t7i from photo source not too long ago. The salesmen wasnt pushy and helped me learn the differences that each camera has to offer. He let me know that the t7i was cropped meaning the photos I would take are cropped compared to full frame. As a film shooter this place is an Aladdin's Cave! Absolutely awesome selection of film cameras and equipment, and a nice selection of film too. I've been to a lot of camera shops in California, always looking for cool film stuff, and this one blows all the others away. Ok, GlassKeyPhoto in San Francisco is super sweet too! But pretty much every other shop is mostly digital gear (understandable) with a very limited selection of film cameras if they have any at all. The doods who work here are super chill too, very helpful and friendly. If you're into photography, or even just like to look at neat gear, you need to come check out this place. I will never, ever use these guys for film processing again. Where do I start? Maybe the fact that I paid for 4mb scans at $15 per film and the best that they gave me were 600kb images. Maybe it was because every scan had "according to Matt" dust on the scanner. Maybe it is also due to the lifeless, grainy results that I thought would be suitable for Facebook etc. Seriously, if you have a film that you need processed this is NOT the place to take it, there are sooooo many more viable options with a Google search. read more
