We are so lucky to have this quality of sushi in Taos. You must go! Order the chef's special.

Food takes forever to come out. While the appetizers were excellent the main dish takes forever.

Food quality was excellent--we had the filet mignon and steak frites, both cooked perfectly, along with a nice local wine. Appetizers and desserts were just as strong. The space is lively, the staff is genuinely friendly, and the whole experience has a subtle Michelin-style feel without being over the top. Definitely worth the short drive.

What a disappointment…read more I was so looking forward to trying this place since I've never been. However rather than it being a pleasant and memorable experience it turned out to be a total disaster, a nightmare. One we asked for a table they said it would be 15 mins when clearly there were two tables open which I was told were not reserved. So we proceeded to go to the bar. They had one chair available so I sat and proceeded to order a drink for myself and my friend which did not have a chair. In a very rude and obnoxious way the bartender said they cannot serve people who are standing. I said pull up a chair he said no. I said fine I will order one for myself and he will not. Again he said he can't serve people that are standing although I was sitting. So I went back the host which was as lost and ignorant as anyone can be. I requested to speak to a manager. She said she'd get one. No one came no one showed up but a woman looking very unprofessional in her attire. She just went to the stand and said nothing for 5 mins. She finally said "are you waiting for a table?" lol not hello I'm the manager how may I help. I explained the situation. She said we would still have to wait because the kitchen is behind. I said can we sit in one of the empty tables available she said no I said why she said because of the kitchen delay. I said I won't order food only a drink. I just want my friend to be able to enjoy one also so can we just sit? Finally after giving it much thought which seemed quite comical she said yes. We sat ourselves. The reason I explain this situation is simple. I do not want any tourists or people unfamiliar with this location to go through want we went through. Not only was it embarrassing but it was plain prejudice and extremely racist. Medley you have the worst customer service I've ever experienced. No understanding of the word courtesy and are clueless when handling a very simple situation. The shameful way of how you treated me and my friend is unacceptable. I don't know if it was because I was dark skinned or simply because it's that poorly run. But most certainly had to share this horrendous and disgusting experience I had at Medley. 0 Stars not recommended at all! And you all should be ashamed of yourselves for treating a new potential client in this manner. The blatant display of IGNORANCE shows how absolutely clueless you all really are. @aliciasnowwolf

Happy Hour runs twice daily with reduced prices on food & beverages from 3-5p and 9-10p. They have an extensive sake menu categorized by flavor profile designed for pairings, along with a lean but modern wine list including detailed tasting notes. Japanese whisky and exotic green tea (try the kuki cha!) round out a full beverage program, and deep booths offer private views of the lush valley below. Chef Kiko Rodriguez offers a four-course tasting menu at an exceptional value for $65 - trying this or any of Paloma's suggestions from their fresh sushi menu (only restaurant in New Mexico with fish flown in from Japan daily) will surely please. Gloriously chilled tuna sashimi was thinly sliced cut with heat from fresh wasabi and a savory ginger shoyu. Hand rolls are served in pairs, and the spicy tuna was simple, elegant, and delightful - a perfect showcase of the freshest fish. Before switching to dessert, shaved ginger is also snappy and cleansing. I was absolutely mind blown by the Sakura Pannacotta - delicate and dreamy custard textured like chawanmushi with soft aromatic cherry blossom and the most delectable shortbread accent. Three light courses that were fully nourishing, absolutely satisfying, and delightfully delicious!

The flavors, textures, and freshness were consistently impressive. I would definitely return to Izanami for another culinary and sake-focused evening. Japanese Stone with steak**: A remarkable pairing; the texture and depth of flavor were exceptional. American steak with**: Rich, well-balanced, and cooked to perfection. Japanese beef**: So good, it felt like a standout in the entire meal. Sashimi plate**: Fresh, delicate, and elevated with the right sake accompaniment.

It was incredibly busy so we were hoping for some good Chinese food. The ambiance is an old Chinese restaurant that used to have a buffet, but it was clean. What we ordered: - kung pao chicken: I thought the flavors were good, the right amount of heat and I absolutely love Chinese broccoli so this was good for me! It has peanuts and your typical celery so this didn't disappoint. - spicy chicken garlic: nice spice, but it was drenched in sauce. There were more vegetables than meat, so paying $12-16 for something with minimum meat seems a bit of a rip off. - spicy shrimp garlic: it was the same but with shrimp. I asked for extra shrimp and they charged $3, which is fine but I would think it would be heaping with shrimp, but it was the same as the chicken. - orange chicken: perfectly fried and the sauce was not overpowering of orange. My daughter enjoyed it, it was spicy but had a nice heat to it. - chicken lo mein: my daughter loved it. It was good and the noodles were mushy. - cheese Rangoon: a bit disappointing as I wanted some flavor other than cream cheese. It had a sweetness to it but a little green onions:chives would have made it better. - pork fried rice: didn't have a lot of soy flavor. It was mild and lack luster. While I wouldn't say don't eat here, it was one of the better eats of Taos in our opinion. If you're looking for Chinese food around the area, I'd try them out if you can't find anything else to eat.

The standard favorites will taste different everywhere you go. We ordered Peking Duck 1/2 and Hunan Lamb mid afternoon and warmed it up a few hours later in the oven. It was very good. The duck tasted great though a little on the small side for 1/2 a duck. The Hunan Lamb was mildly spicy and moist, not in a thick sauce, just light sautees to give it moisture, yes there were a few peppers and onion and that baby corn that so divides opinions. Just say no if you dont want it. We got a great dinner for $41.00. The service was very polite - my husband was Mr Paul, and a thank you for waiting. You can choose to eat in the restaurant but it is self service from your styrofoam containers and you clean up. These boys know about Lamb and we were very happy.
