Good food, generous portions and gracious service. We came by chance and were very happy with our dinner.

Be prepared to wait but it's worth it.. My favorite was the red river roll. The outdoor seating area is nice and relaxing

Food takes forever to come out. While the appetizers were excellent the main dish takes forever.

That being said, it's great option if you want a break from New Mexican / Mexican food while in Santa Fe. We got: - chutoro sashimi - This wasn't worth it, we much preferred the hamachi - hamachi sashimi - Multiple people commented this was their favorite dish of the night - miso eggplant - Another favorite for many, although I found it too saucy for me - daikon salad - Light and vinegary, one of my friends loved this dish - yuba pappardelle - Really interesting - it worked better than I expected although I'm not a big fan of those flavors (I'd rather have Asian flavors with my yuba). The yuba itself was excellent in texture. - tako plate - Well executed and not too fishy - black sesame noodles - Solid, I liked that this came with a bunch of vegetables (burdock, carrot). - mango panna cotta - fine, but not my favorite panna cotta texture (more on the yogurty side of texture) My friends also loved the namazake.

The drinks were yummy, and the food was absolutely delicious! I will say I went in expecting a larger selection of sushi and raw options, so the menu was a little different from what I had envisioned. That being said, everything we ordered was flavorful, beautifully prepared, and thoroughly enjoyed, so I definitely wasn't disappointed. They were noticeably short-staffed during our visit, so the service could have been better, but you could tell the staff was genuinely trying their best and working hard, which we appreciated. Overall, between the delicious food and drinks, beautiful setting, and peaceful atmosphere, Izanami was a really memorable stop on our Santa Fe trip. I would absolutely recommend it and would definitely go back again!

There wasn't much of it and it was woody. The kitchen made a mistake in our order and added haricots vert (green beans) and it was a fortunate mistake for us. There wasn't much a generous serving and they were properly prepared. We decided to splurge and ordered the chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream for dessert. No lava but a delicious flavor and the raspberry (?) sauce surrounding it gave a nice extra flavor. There is a nice patio area, but opted to sit by a window indoors since rain was threatening.

Good chefs should know how to season meat. Service: We felt rushed. We were not finished with our appetizer when entrees arrived. Mine sat waiting for a while set aside. It was cold when I got to it. Waitress did not catch on to that. Customer beware to ask for desired doneness on your entree. Waitress did not know to ask. This place is à la carte. Main entrees on the high price side for quantity and quality of what you get. Being foodies perhaps we were expecting a better quality experience. That's always a drawback to dining out at expensive restaurants for the first time.
