The best sushi I have had in a long time. 10/10. It was so delicious we went back the next night for more. The restaurant was crowded so we sat at the sushi bar. I liked that the sushi bar didn't smell like a fish market. I ordered the black magic. Weird name for sushi but the taste was out of this world. My sister had the gluten free sunset. They did not miss with either dish. I had a non alcoholic drink with a pretty flower in it. I think it was call the "O-Queen" I'm not sure, but I know it was tasty. There is a parking garage here with other dessert and restaurant attractions so where comfortable shoes, a hefty appetite, and some spare change and enjoy a good night out with friends or treat yourself to a solo dare. read more

Had such a perfect birthday dinner here. You can tell O-Ku cares about their guests from the second you walk in. We chose to sit on the upstairs closed patio but both upstairs and downstairs seating areas are lovely. The service was quick and our server was so sweet and social. $5 valet for parking was also super convenient. All of our rolls were fresh and delicious, edamame was great too. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. Our server also brought us the Salmon Usuzukuri to try and it was so good. Came to O-Ku for Happy Hour on a Thursday with my girls and we had a blast! We were a table of 3, we made reservations prior just in case (but I don't think they will be needed at happy hour), and were quickly seated! This place is a 10 out of 10. The food is was great. I have been eating basic sushi but it took a few friends to bring me out of my shell. I ordered a drink called Forbidden Fruit and it was a pretty vodka drink pretty much. But so tasty and loved the glass. We ordered some Shishito peppers as well! So tasty. It is great to have on the side of your sushi. We ordered the Yellowtail Tuna Carpaccio and it was soo savory and delicious. For the rolls we ordered two of The Okurr Roll which were a spin on surf and turf. with tempura friend shrimp inside and topped with Wagyu Beef and Truffle I think. But I was very impressed with the combo. We got a Cavier and Truffle Nigiri, called Crème De La Crème as well but I forget the name. But I am so pleased with my experience and I came it close to closing. The ambience in the place is so cutie and dim for a date, but we sat upstairs on the rooftop area and the service was great too! When I saw that an Asian restaurant had a completely separate gluten free menu, I had to try it. This is especially because they have GF imitation crab, ponzu, soy sauce, and a ton of food items. Bonus points for having mocktails too! I ordered the hamachi carpaccio, sunset roll, and two nigiri: hotate and crème de la crème as well as the cherry starburst mocktail. The latter had a mildly tart flavor and was very refreshing. The fish was incredibly fresh, buttery, and not chewy at all. The carpaccio was a little spicier than I had expected. The avocado was perfectly ripe and the cucumber had the skin on for extra flavor. I can't even count how many times the multiple servers and even manager checked on me to make sure everything was enjoyable. I already want to come back to try the things I missed. I dined with my sister so we tried a few items and enjoyed every last bite, and sip from our cocktails. My experience with Richard, Jackie and Benny on the rooftop was awesome. All three were very attentive to my needs and made fabulous cocktails. If it wasn't for the rain, I wouldn't have left the rooftop!!! And the view of the interlocke from the rooftop was great. When I made my way downstairs for my meal, Julie In was extremely involved in making sure I had a phenomenal experience as well as Alayna. First thoughts when walking in, O-Ku is pretty dark. I've been to the location in Charlotte, NC, but as my first time here in Atlanta, it was nice to see what other locations were offering. One thing to note though is that if you're the first one here, it'll be a bit chilly so definitely recommend to wear a sweater. If you're wondering about parking, I highly highly recommend to valet as it'll be cheaper than parking in the parking deck next door with parkmobile. It makes absolutely no sense, but there you have it. We made it simple. We got the Omakase for $125/person. So as of 12/30/21, what we got as dishes are, listed by course: 1 Salmon with yuzu and volcanic salt 2 Assortment of sashimi 2.5 Mackerel 3 Uni (sea urchin) with brown butter atop of blow torched rice 4 Yellow tail salmon belly, miso yaki (cod) 5 Hamachi with ponzu powder 6 O-toro topped with truffle, smoked Hamachi, sake caviar salmon 7 Matcha cake with almond ice cream Overall, it was great. We came out super full and satisfied for sure. Was it worth it? I think it was considering the amount of food. The omakase in Charlotte was also worth it as well so I'm glad that O-ku carries through their quality to different cities and other locations. This is my go to when I want good sushi and a drink. You can find me at the bar tucked in the corner on any day. Their happy hour is a great time to go and try some rolls for half price. The service is always excellent. My last visit we sat on the roof top for the first time. Very nice but it's not that much of a view. I think my favorite drink is the Paper Crane. The west side is good too. I could eat the Crispy Rice every day! The ACEVICHADO roll was really good and fresh. This was my first time trying it. We got tuna crunch which is a favorite of mine. When I say such an amazing experience I truly mean it! This was my first time visiting and the waiter did an excellent job of detailing the entire menu and offering up his own preferences. He did such a good job we didn't even know he was actually in his waiter training process. I took a chance on the salmon usuzukuri as my waiter recommended it and let me say this was an outstanding dish. So fresh and flavorful, the fish literally melts in your mouth! I'm not even a person that eats crudo style dishes with completely raw fish but I throughly enjoyed this meal and would come back again simply for it. My friend got the pork buns and had no complaints. I definitely recommend coming during happy hour for better prices and getting a good chance at sampling the appetizers. We also ordered the chicken kara age, which is not pictured but is almost like fried chicken nuggets, just very advanced. It was tasty and paired excellently with their spicy mayo. What I love about O-Ku is the variety on the menu. There is something for everyone and an eclectic spread of sushi. To start, we had the Edamame with Truffle Salt, the Crispy Rice, and the Hamache Carpaccio. If you're looking for a beautiful restaurant with good Japanese cuisine, this is a great option! I went here a few times ever since a friend of mine recommended this place! I'm really glad to have ordered the black magic roll because it was gorgeous. I really enjoyed the fried garlic/onion flavor on the toppings of this roll. The Otoro (fatty tuna) was a little expensive but it was worth every penny! Y'all just look at the marbling and you'd know what I'm taking about! I've ordered a few other sushi rolls and they were pretty good too, I totally forgot what the one with the jalapeño is called but it was quite spicy and had a great kick to it. The cocktails are just fine, I wish they'd be more consistent on how they serve it each time. Sometimes, they are very nicely presented with toppings and other times, the same cocktail would be served in a plain glass with no topping or rim. I've started to really like the outdoor/rooftop area, sometimes I'm not even hungry, but I'd just go to sit there with a cocktail and a starter... Had reservations to come on a Monday around 5pm. Was not too busy when we first walked in, but picked up throughout our time there. We made it early enough to order off their happy hour menu. The happy hour menu had so many great options. For the food alone I would definitely rate this place a 5! The rock fried tempura was crispy and good but a little too salty. The chicken karage was perfectly crispy and came with a great aioli dipping sauce. We also got some rolls off the happy hour menu. A salmon roll, tempura roll, and one with crab meat and tempura. The tempura roll was good, nothing too special. The salmon was very fresh and loved the lemon on top ! The crab meat roll was also amazing with the fried onions on top. We also got some free dessert for celebrating a birthday. The service was not the best to be honest. We felt a little rushed from the server. I also kept a paper menu that was given to us because it had happy birthday with my name printed on it. I put it to the side and let my server know I would like to keep it, however, when she was walking by, she just took it without saying a word. She also gave us the check before the dessert even came. On my latest trip, the bar was definitely understaffed so it took a while to get drinks. That's fine but your bartenders should at least acknowledge us within a few minutes and ask if we want a drink menu. Once we sat at our table, our service was great (minutes the drinks taking forever). We had the crispy rice topped with salmon small plate, which was the only thing I didn't care for. There wasn't much taste other than what came from the jalapeño on top. We also had the Black Magic roll which was our favorite. It has squid ink rice, lobster, shrimp, masago aoli and scallions. The Tuna Crunch was good as well. This has spicy tuna, cucumber, crab, spicy aoli, eel sauce, and crunchy onion finish. I didn't taste any spice but it was still good. The gyoza was also good.
