My friends and I tried various sushi rolls to share at Makimono. The Philly roll was my favorite
Joy S.

My friends and I stopped into to Krog Food hall for dinner. I decided to order sushi rolls from Makimono. I ordered at the counter and the hostess made some great suggestions. I walked around the food hall for about 15 minutes and our rolls were ready. We sat in the food hall and enjoyed tasting the sushi rolls. The Philly was my favorite.

We came here on a Saturday evening and decided to check this place out. I like the dinning area setup but the upstairs area was closed. The service was great! Our waiter regularly checked on us and when she got busy another one would come over. The only down side was my food. The Yaki Soba wasn't bad but a little too sweet for my liking. The Udon was the same way, too sweet. Just my opinion but you have to check it out for yourself.

MAKE your own call about Makimono... located inside Krog Street Market, I believe they used to be Craft Izakaya, which I did enjoy a lot when it was a full dine in restaurant, but they shut down and reopened as a smaller scale sushi bar counter. After making a circle around the food hall, we were most curious about Makimono. They were close to closing time but luckily not super busy so we took a seat and chatted with some of the guys behind the bar. We asked for suggestions on the best two rolls so they recommended the Ellie and the Lambada, which also happened to be the two sushi rolls on the menu we were eyeing. I'm pretty particular about my sushi and I wasn't expecting much from the rolls. However, they were pretty large and tasty. The Ellie came out nice in photos - the Lambada was probably my favorite of the two, but not as photogenic. Rolls here were a-ok. Nothing special, maybe a step up from grocery store sushi? There are tons of restaurants in Atlanta to grab a mediocre sushi roll from so go ahead and add Makimono to the list if you're craving it while at Krog.

I decided to stop by the Krog Street Market to grab some food today. There are lots of great options for food but I decided to get sushi from Makimono. The panko avocado and the lion king roll were delicious! I also tried the spring rolls which were pretty standard but they were really good in the sweet chili sauce.

W99 roll is amazing!

First time on the belt line and we stop in for some sushi. We started with the pork Gyoza, cooked perfectly. Then we had The W99 (see photo) was fanatic! Large enough to satisfy your hunger. Finished our meal with the chicken fried rice and Salad. Ginger dressing is really good. The only thing knocking it from a 5 star to a 4 was the fried rice. The chicken was over cooked and the rice had no flavor. Sushi roll are huge and a must if you come here. The menu had Plenty of other items to check out on our next visit. Service was a little slow but they were super busy. Overall great experience at Makimono

Food is great, portions are even better. The flavored margaritas are can't miss.

Food was great, portions are as well. The flavored margaritas are delicious and a great deal.

I've only been able to eat inside the restaurant twice now but their take out side is always busy. Finally tried their sushi after dropping in for gyoza or drinks and it was amazing. Super fresh, fast, and the service is always great. This time the owner was behind the bar working and you can tell a lot of thought and care has gone into the place. Great place to drop into especially to get away from the noisy Krog Street vibes. I'll definitely be back!

Welll id probably recommend anywhere else in Krog st. The food wasn't bad necessarily but it wasn't super good and it definitely did not meet up to the price. Save your time and your coins ladies and gents

The Korean food scenes got my wife and I hungry every time! Having been to many of Atlanta's best Korean restaurants over the past decade, Stone Bowl is a clear notch above the rest. The side dishes are just simply better with robust authentic seasoning and unforgettable flavor that leaves you craving for more. The kimchi is spot on for spice but not overwhelming. The potatoes are to die for, cooked to perfection, tender and absorbent of all the nearby flavors. For the first time, we tried the Korean sushi roll (K-Pop Demon Hunters was calling) and it didn't disappoint. Stuffed with fresh cooked bulgogi and veggies, we ate it so fast we were left thinking of Korean sushi rolls had an edge over Japanese sushi rolls! And we also got the poached dumplings for the first time and almost went as fast as the sushi roll. The authentic style of poaching the dumpling made it taste homemade from grandma's kitchen. The sizzling plate of bulgogi was amazingly put down the gullet on top of everything else. Consistently on point and warms the tummy. Service is cordial, but somewhat aloof and distant at times because we would have loved an offer to refill our side dishes, but admittedly they are often busy and we don't go there to expect Michelin dining service levels. We come for the food. Awesome food. And Stone Bowl House will be seeing us again before long.

Despite this, the restaurant was vibrant on a rainy midweek day... Almost full to capacity with patrons. Happy my partner recommended this restaurant! I sat at the bar to place my to go order and was greeted promptly by the bartender. He brought me water and provided the QR code to order. The gentleman next to me was enjoying the Bimibap which looked very enticing, but due to the cold weather, I wanted something warm. Soup was not an option and was directed to the glass noodle dish. The glass noodles were of a sweet potato consistency and included several vegetables. I did not know that the bone marrow mentioned in the description would be an actual marrow, quite large that was discovered once I dug into my dish at home. The flavors exuded were right on point! The portion was also ample for a second meal. Will definitely return to sample the Bimibap on a warmer day and possibly some of the drinks offered. I truly enjoyed the waiting period at the bar, striking up conversation and viewing Misery which was being projected on the wall... A true horror classic. I enjoyed the atmosphere and menu offerings.

The vibe is super cool -- eccentric in the best way, intimate but still lively. They had a movie playing on a projector, which gave the space a whole artsy, underground feel. Now, the menu isn't exactly pescatarian‑friendly, so I couldn't go too crazy, but what I *did* try was solid. The Kimchi Fried Rice was a little on the bland side for me -- I expected more punch since it's kimchi, but the portion was perfect. Most people pair it with their signature chicken dishes anyway, which makes total sense. The Kimchi Crab Cake, though? Absolutely delicious. Packed with savory lump crab, crispy panko coating, and a little lemony finish. YUM. My boyfriend got the Gaja‑style chicken and was obsessed -- crispy, crunchy, tossed in their famous sauce, topped with tofu ranch. He cleaned that plate. Now let's talk drinks. I ordered the Sledge‑o‑matic Lover, and this is the perfect spring/summer drink. Cucumber jalapeño tequila, house‑made watermelon syrup, a splash of lime, a hint of lemon... perfection. It's listed as spicy, but it's really not -- and I'm not a spicy‑drink girlie. This one is fantastic. The service was great too -- warm, attentive, and quick. The food came out faster than expected, everything was hot, and every dish looked beautiful. Gaja really surprised me in the best way.

The menu feels a bit more streamlined than I remember from the original location, though the core dishes are still there. Service has always been pleasant and efficient during my visits, which makes the experience even better. Parking can occasionally be tricky since it's located in downtown Alpharetta, but there's a nearby free parking garage that makes it manageable. Overall, it's a solid go-to when you're craving Korean food in the area without needing to drive to neighboring cities.

The bibimbap? why would they serve it on a FLAT plate? it was so hard to mix the rice in it. Portion size of this dish was like kids menu. Not sure if they only focused on the aesthetics of the restaurant but there no need for you to waste money here.

Strange, but maybe the late lunch, early dinner time is not busy here. We were sat down, but the service wasn't very friendly. Despite being the only people here, we felt rushed to order and go. I suppose the biggest reason I'm giving a 3 is because of the yellow croaker/corvina. I love, love, love when tofu houses give it, and when I saw it here... it was the biggest disappointment. It was old. Definitely not as fresh as some of the other offerings here, and honestly, of the menu items here, only the seafood pancake was anything truly worthwhile. While the galbi was well marinated, it was thin. The soft tofu soup was good, but I feel as though most tofu houses do it well, so it's expected.
