One of the few places these days who employ "car people". The staff at the Albany, Oregon Location are the perfect example of this!

Pretty good store, the employees were very helpful. Even letting my Dad borrow a tool because he only needed it for one thing!

Came into the store around 10am for a headlight but they didn't have it in stock but they ordered it and the bulb arrived in under 2 hours.

Never again. Mac's…read moreused to be a great place to buy a car battery. However 2-3 years ago the business changed ownership and they moved locations. Long story short, I purchased a car battery and it failed while under warranty. My car had not been started for over a week. I jump started it and then took it to my mechanic that I have used for years. He did 2 different tests, and told me both tests showed the battery was weak and I would need a replacement. Note...my mechanic doesn't sell batteries. He gave me 2 computer read-outs that showed the battery was weak. I took my car back to Macs and told them what had happened and also told him that my mechanic had said the under-warranty battery was weak. This battery had been purchased from Macs less than a year, so it was under full replacement. First the guy at Macs suggested there must be some type of "draw" on the battery. I told him my prior Battery from Interstate lasted around 4 years so if there was a "draw" it just started to "draw" with the new battery. Then the Mac's guy did some testing and said the battery was still good and not weak. Then I showed him the mechanics report that showed 2 different methods of testing, both showing a weak battery. That's when the story changed and Mac's grudgingly replaced my battery. Then, 1.5 years later with the Mac's replacement battery, and not starting the car for a bit, the same thing happened again. Again, I took the battery to my mechanic and again, he ran 2 separate tests. This time he said the results of one showed it was "average" but the other test said he said showed low. No I'm not going back to Mac's for a replacement. Mac's has lost my business. Bottom line, based on them suggesting there was nothing wrong and me showing 2 reports saying they are low, I don't trust them. I went to a store and bought an AC Delco that has a 4-year total replacement warranty. It costs more than Mac's, but I expect it to last 4 years...even when I haven't started my car for a week.

I drive a 2019 Subaru Outback and it had the original battery so it was long overdue for a replacement. I called ahead of time to make sure they had one in stock and they did, so I stopped by a couple hours later. I was immediately greeted by a very friendly gentleman who showed me where to park. He had me pop the hood and checked my alternator, then went to get a new battery. He went to work on replacing it after checking the settings in my car. Once he was done he cleaned up the battery acid from my old battery corroding and I was good to go. It came out to a total of $180, $170 for the battery and $10 for install. The man who helped me was very friendly and knowledgeable. He told me what he was doing before he did it so I knew what was going on. He didn't talk down to me because I'm not a man a which was a welcome relief. Note that they won't work on Subarus if they were made in 2020 or later due to how Subaru batteries work now. I didn't catch the whole explanation but it was good to know. The place itself is small and easy to miss but they have everything you would need battery-wise. They do installs for you and make sure it's all working, all for a very good price. I will definitely be back!

Chris said he'd have the key cut and programmed in 30-45 minutes and would call when it was ready. He never called, so I reached out myself--only to learn that he couldn't program the fob and had actually cut the key incorrectly, making it unusable. After telling me this, he just moved on to another customer as if my needs had been sufficiently met. Were it not for Ed, a more experienced associate, I would have effectively been stranded 30 minutes from home. But Ed stepped in and charged my battery, got me a working key so I could get home, and later gave me a discount when I had to return for a properly cut fob. Ed was excellent and really saved the day, but because of Chris' mistakes and lack of follow-through, I can only give this location 2 stars.

My mechanic suggested I just go to O'Reilly. My mechanic said they could help me figure out what part I needed and even help me install it or just install it for me. Sounds good. It's across town, but off I went. The store was clean and tidy. There were a couple staff members, and one offered to help. I think her name was Erin. She wasn't immediately able to locate the part based on the numbers I had brought in from the part. She came out to my vehicle with me and had a gander. We went back in, and she pored over the computer trying to find the right part. She did find something that looked close, but it was chrome and not quite right. Rather than just have me wait, she offered to keep looking and call me when she found something. The entire experience was pleasant. I felt valued. Their staff wanted to make sure I got what I needed the first time. They didn't just want to sell me something and shuffle me out the door. They smiled. Yep. They smiled. I will go back when I need some auto parts. Thank you for treating me kindly, for smiling, and for looking for the part I need. More retailers could learn from this example.
