I love Les Schwab! I bought my brand new tires there about 3 years ago? When I had a flat, I called them and asked for their help, I had no way of getting my tire there to be fixed. They sent a man out with a truck, and got my tire, put my spare on, and then took my tire to the shop to fix it. I went to the Shop the next day and had my newly fixed tire put back on my car. Talk about *Great* Service! I am a Senior, and I remember when this was the kind of service you "used to get" Everywhere you went, years ago. Remember when you'd go to a gas station and they'd check your oil, and wash your windows? they don't do that anymore sadly. it would be really nice if they would. but Service is Not like it used to be. I asked a gentleman at a gas station if he'd mind checking my oil one day, and he said "we only pump gas Miss." I was like what......? It was if I had asked him to do the impossible! Now, most places charge you ridiculous prices for doing Everything! so I am a pleasantly pleased Senior, that is Very Happy and Pleased that Les Schwab has not forgotten How to Treat Their Customers! very *Professional* and Awesome service! First up, the young employees in front were professional, courteous, and seemed very knowledgeable. As for the service; just the worst quality, scheduled for an alignment+tires+TPMS rebuild and just got tires. Was told my alignment was fine despite rubbing just the inner edge of one front tire to the belts, and told the $40 "TPMS rebuild service" was actually just a valve stem check (not even a TPMS function verification) after my TPMS light remained on after the install, and their online appointment system doesn't actually communicate to the store where you book service to reserve equipment or space. This location fixed a valve stem for me when I was in a pinch and I felt obligated to give them some business, but I was wrong and should have stuck to Discount Tire where the value and quality is excellent and consistent nationwide. I guess they were out of "more" this week and Les is just less. Would not give them another dollar by choice, just waiting to see if my suspect assignment check or *still* non-functional TPMS lead to burning up a new tire within the warranty period, SMH. If you seek quality, look elsewhere. read more

I had a simple brake job done on my Prius and they messed up the parking brake. The emergency brake peddle suddenly was going all the way to the floor. At first their mechanic said they lost a part to the brake cable. They had to order the full cable assembly from dealer to get the part they said was missing. When the assembly finally came, the next mechanic said the pedal was 'supposed to go all the way down' and they was nothing they could fix. I said if they cant fix it correctly I would take it to the dealer and have them do it right and send them the bill. I took the car to Toyota - they said it was a simple repair and now the parking brake pedal is like it should be - ie. when set it stops about two inches off the floor. I cant believe a professional mechanic would blow off a customer who obviously knows something about cars. I hate to imagine what they do to people who dont know any better. I will never trust this shop with any repair again. read more

I came in with a flat tire, just thinking I needed some air to get me home to Portland since I thought it was a slow leak. I was greeted by Anthony, who advised that I not risk the long drive home just in case there was a nail in the tire or something else . Well, not only did he convince me to play it safe and get the tire inspected and patched (there was a screw in the tread!) but they did it all FREE OF CHARGE, which I couldn't believe. That level of customer service is rare these days, and has made me a Les Schwab customer for life! read more

The only place open, Firestone who by the way absolutely sucks!!! ... told me they couldn't repair the tire. Admittedly the tire needs replaced, just wanted to deal with all that at home in Portland but the was a case of wouldn't vs couldn't. Had to spend the night and went to Les Schwab first thing in the morning and they were more than happy to help. Fixed the tire within an hour, even put the spare tire back where it goes and we were on our way home. Thank you Les Schwab! Would have come here first to begin with had you been open on Sunday and needless to say nobody should ever use Firestone Complete Auto Car in Corvallis, that place sucks! I went here on July 22nd. I was on a road trip, over 500 miles from home, when I saw that one tire on my van was low. I brought it in and was warmly greeted by Noah at Les Schwab. He immediately took care of me and checked out my tire. Of course it had a hole in the side, which meant it had to be replaced. He went over all my options in a way I could understand without being pushy. I ended up getting four new tires with him, as it seemed the safest approach - my tires were due to be replaced in 3,000 miles, anyway. Asked them to check my tires because of shaking and when they pulled my car in they immediately open the hood of my car and started Revving the engine so I walk up to the bay wondering what's going on why is my hood open and your revving my engine . They then show me that my engine mounts are broken and the engine looks like it wants to jump out . Mind you I told them it could be the tires as soon as I get there. They then say "oh did you still want us to check the tires" I say yes then someone literally walks around my car then says there's nothing wrong with the tires. One week latter I'm stranded on the road with my tire blown out! It's like they didn't want my money or won't to actually have to do some work. And to make matters worst I was willing to buy all four tires if I had to. Never going here again! read more

Honest people who work here. I'm not from here, was visiting and needed an alignment. Took my car here expecting to pay, but they called and said my car was ready to be picked up and it didn't need an alignment, that it was in great shape. I was so happy I didn't have to pay almost $100 and second of all, for their honesty. They could've easily done the job even though it didn't require one and taken my money. Les Schwab is an Oregon tire institution. All told, this place has solid customer service, a good tire selection, and in the last few years has started stocking more well known brands of tire. As I type this, I've just purchased 4 brand new tires for our car, sat down in the corner, and started watching them work through the window. What's notable here (and probably shouldn't be), is that everyone here is working. I can see every member of this staff *doing* something. Sure it's a bit more expensive to get tires here, but to keep my money local, and give people working hard 50 extra bucks every 3 years for my tires feels well..worth it. As long as they act happy to help me, I'm happy to pay them. On a side note, It's got some quirky bits: 1) In the olden (say 10 years ago) days, a dude would run out of the shop as you came by, and ask how he could help you out. I've been to 3 locations in the last year, and haven't had it happen once. Maybe it's just this location, or maybe it's a new rule. Personally, If I'm allowed a subjective observation, I always braced myself for the "HELLO" as I pulled up, finding it rather unnerving. 2) Free beef. At some point in the winter months, you'll get a beefstick with your tires. What a bargain. 3) They've never charged me to fix repairable tires. ever. Pretty awesome. All in all, my business is theirs to lose, and until they give me reason to look elsewhere, I won't even bother shopping around. read more

I'm afraid I have to lower my rating to one star. I hate that. Why the reduction? Well.... I contacted Nate privately after he commented on my review. I asked him some specific questions and gave him ample time to respond. A month later, and there's no reply. That's not good service. In his reply, Nate suggested that maybe there was a miscommunication about the severe winter service rating for the tires I was looking at. There was no miscommunication. I was initially told the Back Country ~did~ have the severe winter service logo. I had specifically asked for my size. On the second visit it was revealed that the tire did not have the severe service badge. The staff member told me that they had just as good of winter traction as a tire that DOES wear the badge. I'm sorry, but this smells funny to me. There's a reason that one tire gets certified and another doesn't. Failing enough tests to be unable to wear the badge suggests to me that it does NOT have as good of winter traction as a tire with that symbol. I suggested that if Nate had information to the contrary, I'd love to see it. A month later? Crickets. Number two is that it was difficult to even get a quote on the tire I actually wanted. I knew that I would pay more from Schwab for a non-Schwab tire, and I was going to be ok with that. This was the price I was going to pay for "Sudden Service" through the life of the tires. When the staff person told me that the tire I wanted really didn't have good snow traction because of the interlocking tread blocks, I was taken back. I had put 130,000 miles on these exact tires, and they have GREAT snow traction. That's why I ask for them. In fact, most people I talk to agree they are the standard by which other tires are measured. The staff member was suggesting that a tire I know to perform well would perform less well than a tire that isn't rated for severe winter service. Strike two. I didn't wait for strike three. I went to a less convenient shop and got a set of the tires I want. As a bonus, because they are a Goodrich dealer, I was able to apply for a rebate from Goodrich. As it turns out, Les Schwab's price point on the tire wasn't really that much more. The main difference was going to be shipping since Schwab isn't technically a Goodrich dealer. Actually, here's strike three. I had another incident regarding a trailer I needed to have some work done on the suspension. It was a busy day, and the person I talked to said they could order the parts, but it would be faster to go to Southtown RV, and he shooed me away. I'm no fan of Southtown RV, so I went to a trailer shop in Springfield. Kind of ridiculous, but there you go. I even pointed out that I might be revising my review down to one star because it felt like they were trying to whitewash my experience and explain that "what we really meant was...." The problem was, I was there and part of the dialogue. I know what happened. If Nate was one of the folks I worked with, then he was there too. If not, then he was just guessing. I've been a Les Schwab customer for probably close to 30 years now, and service has always been top-notch. Went in today to have winter tire swap out for 2 of our vehicles. 1 went just fine, the other vehicle had a communication snafu that probably wasn't entirely their fault - just a mutual misunderstanding - but Les Schwab crew did the right thing as always and made it all right in the end. Fellas did a hell of a job on my brakes. Not an easy job considering they're practically the same setup as a semi-truck. My pickup is braking so well and there's no problem with the parking brake at all. Originally I shattered a the brake pads from acting like a complete idiot. Could be due to having the parking brake activated for about 4 miles. I didn't totally agree that the brake master cylinder neede to be replaced i'm better off safe than sorry. read more

I had a maintenance light come on during my drive from Portland to Corvallis this past week. It was a notice that one of my tires was low, so I got on Yelp, and based on the other good reviews for this Les Schwab, decided to go here to have it checked out. I was told that my tire was indeed low, and the gentleman that assisted me said I should get that tire inspected more closely to make sure there wasn't a leak, and he would check my other tires as well. He told me that he didn't think there would be a charge, but they would let me know before proceeding. After only 20 minutes of waiting my car was done. He told me that all four of my tires actually needed air, and thankfully none of them had a leak, There was no charge and I was quickly on my way. I really appreciate them not trying to upsell something else or having me wait more than 20 minutes. They were professional and courteous, and I would go definitely back to this location if I am ever in need of any kind of tire assistance while in Corvallis. I had $3180 worth of tires put on my motorhome this week and there was room for improvement in the installation work. First the rear dual tire valve stems were not correctly clocked 180 degrees apart (see pic). This is not essential for operation but normally done and a sign of paying attention. Second on tire pressures, they didn't ask or consult the mfr sticker that said recommended tire pressure is 95 PSI; instead 3 tires were 110 PSI, one tire was 114 PSI, one tire was 117 PSI and one tire was 120 PSI. Recommended maximum tire pressure for the tire is 110 psi, so why any pressure was over 110 PSI is unacceptable. Finally I had aftermarket metal valve stem caps when I went in (a little larger and nicer than normal) and of the 6 on the vehicle only were 2 returned with the vehicle, so when I went back to explain I was given new but inferior valve caps. For the serious vehicle enthusiasts that care about their car, motorhome, etc, I believe they move too fast and sacrifice quality for speed. read more

I left frustrated with the gentleman that "helped" me. Prior to coming, I made sure I called to check for availability on rotating tires. The person I spoke with asked a couple questions and informed me it would be at no charge. I said great. So I show up and Sam was the one who approached me first. Asked what I needed done. I told him and almost immediately he threw prices at me. When I mentioned the person I spoke with informed me it would be complimentary considering I got my tires from the company (I also have warranty on them) he then started to stutter and paused for a second to tell me he can do it for free today but next time I come in they will charge me because my tires didn't "LOOK LIKE" their tires. At that point, I wasn't going to waste my time to show paperwork to prove whether or not I got my tires from Les Scwhab considering he didn't charge me for the rotation anyways but I felt like it was super unprofessional and rude the way he said it. Thanks for doing the rotation man but I'm definitely not coming back here. I'll just stick to my usual spot and go from there. read more

Needed new tires but require an uncommon size. Visited the store and asked for options for tires. They sent someone outside who then inspected my tires and came in excitedly and told me that they need to be replaced very soon since they were imminently going to blow. No, no they were not. When asked for my tire options, he had to run back out again to actually get the tire sizes. he then offered three choices, none of which were the correct size. After doing some research at home on what tires would fit what I needed, I called back to see how long it would take to get the tires I wanted. Two weeks, but they offered some 'equivalent' tires instead I could get today! The same wrong sized tires offered previously. read more

So, I'm normally pretty wary of taking my car to auto repair shops I've never dealt with before. But, since moving to the area, I decided that I needed to get my brakes looked at due to some symptoms that made me nervous. I knew that Les Schwab was supposed to provide good customer service, but the Yelp reviews for the two stores in Corvallis weren't reassuring. I was pleasantly surprised by my experience with the Southtown location. I dropped in without making an appointment and they wasted no time in getting my car into the first available bay (I timed it, it was 17 minutes before one opened up and they moved my car right in). Within 5 more minutes I was discussing my options with Will (who was super nice and helpful). Ultimately, he told me I didn't need to get any work done at this time. He explained what the symptoms were and why they were happening and reassured me that the car was safe to drive. He said that I would likely need routine brake service within 3-6 months, and that they would do a procedure at that time that would fix these very symptoms that caused me to bring the car in. He provided me with a printout that showed what my costs were likely going to be for that routine service so I could budget for that maintenance accordingly. It would have been easy for them to conjure up a million different problems that needed immediate repair and con me out of my money -- but they didn't. They were honest and helpful, and because of that, I'll likely bring my car back to this shop for the routine service in 3-6 months. That's good customer service, in my opinion. Once I bring the car in for service, I'll update my review with more info about the work they actually do, but for now, I'm giving them 4-stars for being honest and helpful and not simply taking the money of every person who comes to them with car concerns. read more

Very disappointed. I called Les Schwab Tire (LST) to see if they had the tires I needed. They said that they had what I needed and quoted me a reasonable price. I asked them to hold the tires and I would come in tomorrow to have them installed. They were very pleasant and told me "no problem we'll hold them for you".. They knew who I was as they looked up my account that I already had on file. Went in the next day, they pulled up my account on the computer and saw what I needed and indicated that I called the day before. The LST representative then said "looks like we sold those tires this morning" (I was there at about 11am). He then immediately tried to sell me more expensive tires (about $100 more). I indicated that I was disappointed that I called the day before and was told that they would hold the tires. I was told "I'm sorry" but in the same sentences proceeded to up-sell me with more expensive tires. They didn't even offer me a discount for my inconvenience. Needless to say I was upset as they wasted my time and did not recognize the inconvenience they caused or the fact that they made the mistake - I did not make the purchase. I've been told that they used to be good about 10 years ago - I guess things change... I gave 2 stars rather than one as they were pleasant. They were either pleasantly incompetent or manipulative not sure which. read more

I went to their new store today. A very nice store! I live on the Coast and came in for a doctor appt. On the way on, my Jeep started making a weird noise. I went to my doctor first, then to the new Les Schwab store. I was with my girlfriend. We pulled in and started walking into the store, when we were approached by a Les Schwab employee. i was shocked. I've never had that before. He greeted us and ask what they could do for me. I tole them their store in Newport did my lift and tires. Its making a noise and I have to make sure we can get home. It was in the shop and tire off in less than 10 minutes. Maybe 10-15 minutes later, a gentleman came out and said they found the problem, just a bent piece of metal. It was fixed and we'd have no further issues. I hugged him (I've had a rough morning). What wonderful people the Corvallis store has. Keep up the fantastic work!! And thank you for smoothing out my bad day! read more

Adam was very helpful when I was getting my tires fixed. I had a flat and needed it fixed. I was told that a previous Les Schwab had not fully replaced two of my studs that needed to be replaced to put my tire on correctly, and it could fall off if not taken care of.. Normally this is a charge to replace the studs, but because of my situation with the previous Les Schwab they took care of it no charge for me! It made my whole day! Went in for a tire rotation/balance this morning on a vehicle they had never worked on before. Not only were they ready for business before opening time, but they took my Audi in without an appointment and worked on it right away. They did the service requested, gave me some recommendations for future service and didn't even charge me for the effort. Obviously, I'll be back when I need those future services. Beyond all of this, the attendant who helped me was very nice, polite and straight forward. That's always appreciated. read more

We are driving across country in our RV, and unfortunately, had a sudden flat tire. After putting on the spare, we drove to Les Schwab Tire Center in Corvallis, and checked in at the counter. What amazing customer service! We waited just a few minutes before one of their professionals removed a nail from the flat, patched the tire, placed it back on the RV, and returned the spare to its cage underneath (not an easy task). We were back on the road in a very short time, AND he charged us nothing! When does this kind of awesome service happen these days? I came here looking to get my tire patched and they told me it was not possible and that instead I needed 4 new tires costing $700 because I have AWD. Understandable, but I have a tire place in my home town I trust more so I said I would be driving there to get my tires and if they would please put the spare on. He kept trying to push his tires on me and I kept refusing. Funny thing is these corn cobs at Les Schwab put my spare on and didn't remember to give me my wheel they took off to do so!!! I was forced to buy a new wheel because when I called about it they couldn't seem to find it and their solution was I send them a pic of my tire missing the wheel..... seriously? To be honest, these people don't really know what they are doing. I gave them a chance to make it right, but they stuck to their very poor excuse. Took my car in for a simple tire rotation, my wheels each have locking lug nuts which requires a key. This key cannot be used with a high torque gun. Well they used a high torque gun, got lucky with one side of my car, then broke it when trying on the other side. They blamed it on the lug nut being "too tight", and "being in a position in which would inevitably break the key". This is inaccurate. If they had properly used manual torque, they would've had no problem. When they mentioned it to me, I said this absolutely doesn't just happen, and they wanted to argue with me about it. I informed them that you cannot use high torque with the key and their excuse was "we were being very gentle". They tried to get the lug nut out but when I saw how they were doing it I asked them to stop. Low and behold, they damaged my rim trying to get it out. Filed a report with them, thankfully they'll help with the wheel refurbish but they stuck to their poor logic and uninformed ways. Had to go get my lug nuts specially broken off, which cost me $150. Even had 3 different dealerships confirm with me that their excuse is invalid. Just because I'm a girl does not mean I don't know cars. Won't be having them touch my wheels again. read more

They patiently worked with me on a baffling recurring wheel stud problem and made a special service change just for my vehicle, they have frequently given me free service, even if my tires weren't Schwabs, they are honest and go out of their way to explain to me and show me what the problem is, taking me out to the garage to have me look at my vehicle problem for myself. I'm sure the quality of the customer service you get depends on the location and the mechanic that you meet. With that said, this location and the mechanic that worked on my car was wonderful. I went in because I noticed that my passenger side rear tire was flat, I must have run over a nail at some point rolling around Corvallis getting groceries. I called to see whether I needed to schedule and they said come right over. A serviceman helped get me into the computer system after only a short wait at the service counter. They had my car in a bay and the puncture identified and repaired in less than 30mins. When it came time to ring up, the serviceman said that there is no charge for this is a complementary service. I was astounded. I offered him lunch but he said he cannot take tips or a lunch, but I am allowed to leave a good review. During the tire repair he also checked the drum brake and suggested that I replace the pads in the next year or so. This recommendation was not a bs upsell, he wasn't interest in selling me a brake job. I also know that his recommendation is honest because I work on my own car and know that the rear drum break pads are indeed due for replacement soon ish. Of course if you need new tires, it would be good to do your research for what tire is a good match for your vehicle. For my Honda Civic I know the General RT43 is a good tire as is the Michelin Defender. read more

I had a terrible experience today at Les Schwab on 3rd St. While the staff was very friendly the end product was ugly. All 4 of my rims were scratched in very noticeable ways. If you have a car with low profile tires I would avoid this shop. Luckily I inspected my rims with the tech who changed them out and found the damage before driving off. They took pictures and said they would get someone out to make them look like new again. I do appreciate that they owned up to the damage and gave me a solution without any fuss. That being said I still am weary if this wheel restoration will be up to my standards as the rims were very clean before the damage. I will update my review and rating after everything is said and done. All of my other experiences with Les Schwab have been very positive so this is certainly disappointing. -Update- I am very happy to say that Les Schwab really does stand true to its company motto "Do the right thing." Since my issues last Friday they quickly called out a rim restoration services to my house that did an excellent job restoring any damage done. This was all accomplished the next business day. I cannot stress how much value you can place on good customer service. For this I am updating my previous 1/5 star to a review score to a 4/5. I will be returning for future business in hopes I can have issue-free 5 star experience. read more
