Box had oil stains. I remember $ was surprisingly low. But i was ignorant of diff brand pricing, quality etc. I called & thier response was nothing they can do past 1 yr warranty. i tried 2 ask why oil plug was either welded shut or goop like epoxy. So i couldn't even refill it. Come to find out, & unknown2 me at the time, it APPEARS it was used returned jack.. I NEVER KNOWINGLY Purch ANYTHING USED, OPEN BOX, REFURBISHED. I went2 another AutoZone, recently 2 see, they had a tiny sign used, but I'd have noticed if it had been there at other store, bcuz i gave leaking non functional used once, jack 2my neighbor & told him fix it it's yours. He did fix it!! I asked how'd he get the plug open. He said plug was elsewhere on jack. He Offered 2 give back but i couldn't go back on my word. He restaited give back - I said no but loan it to me abt once a yr. He agreed. In short all the other store had2 do was look at it. HOWEVER They don't sell jack oil :-( or so guy at store said. I'm guessing 1st owner somehow intentionally or unintentionally loosened oil plug or worse it comes loose by itself. Guy at store said seals go bad after yr or 2 & they don't sell the seals either? I haven't checked if any of that (oil or seals) is true. No intention of purch any thing significant frm them again, convenience only. Also chngd rating frm 1* to 2.5can't do 2.5 so 2. If U plan to purch frm AutoZone MAKE SURE It's NEW, & they sell maintenance type items 4 that product, seals, specialty oil, screws, nuts or bolts, hinge pins, wheels, specialty batteries, battery door covers, specialty funnel, handle, ETC OR Name of someone you can obtain those items

Everyone gives different information and records are hard to get. I get maintenance on my vehicles when needed and I always ask to make sure I'm getting everything done, they say yes. I have all that done. Then 15k miles later they tell me I'm past due on $700 worth of maintenance that could affect my warranty that should have been done when I had the other 60k maintenances completed. I asked repeatedly previously if I had all the 60k maintenances done and they said yes. Of course there's more because nobody knows what's suppose to be done. I spent an entire day here so I wouldn't have to come back and spend another day for maintenance, now here I am missing another day because they don't know what's going on. I also wanted to verify on receipts to make sure they weren't doing work again that might have been already completed. The service advisor sent me to the cashiers and it was also a hassle to get a receipt. At first they said they can't get the receipt and should check mine. Then another said I needed a RO number otherwise it couldn't be pulled. Then the manager came and was able to get it. Upon checking everything, it turns out they forgot to mention the maintenance needed 15k miles ago and was told it could affect my warranty, even though it's their fault they told me I'd done everything needed. This shouldn't be this difficult just for normal maintenance work. Obviously there's a simple list of what's needed every 30k miles or so. What's so hard about just reading off this list? I'm just convinced every dealership is like this now. Peterson Toyota is still far worse (so far), but this one is just as bad with record keeping. The problem is there are only a couple Toyota dealerships here and now might start buying in twin or elsewhere. Don't trust any of these dealerships and verify everything multiple times. Also keep receipts since it's hard to get records here. Edmark, thanks for wasting more of my time, you won't be the ones selling me my next two cars I plan on getting.

Dowdy's, however, went well beyond good service for me. We woke up with a car issue, did a bit of panicking, randomly found a place online that was near work, called the shop, and Dowdy's told us we could bring it in immediately if we wanted. They checked it out, diagnosed the problem, and then informed us that we were probably still under warranty and should see if we can get it repaired through the dealership with little cost to us. I'm not sure if the dealer/warranty will cover our issue yet, but I am pretty sure that I will be taking all of my future service to Dowdy's. They easily could have just fixed our car and not mentioned a cost saving alternative; instead of getting a quick buck, they have earned a future repeat-customer.
