They didn't seem annoyed but just not helpful or friendly at all. Once I took the product home, I found out it was not compatible with my car. I visited O'reilys to use the loan diagnostic tool program this past 09/12. Because of covid, oreilly techs have let me scan my car myself lately with just a check in of an ID. I realize the proper protocol is to have the tech scan for me. I got it. As i approached store manager Anthony and inquired about the obd scanner, he told me oreillys doesnt offer that service. I would expect the manager of the store to pursue the point of sale at this instance- a well trained manager would attempt to correct my understanding of the idea and lead me in the right direction so i could get a scan on my car (whether it be me or him) I mentioned that i had seen the obd scan resource was advertised on oreillys website, as well as various ads on pandora, social media, etc. Still, he insisted oreillys does not offer any sort of service. Other customers who were waiting in line and heard our conversation even volunteered to help clarify my needs, uttering their best guessed name for this service- one gentleman even went as far as pointing out another oreillys tech providing obd scan service right outside at that moment. Store manager Anthony proceeded with smug response 'We dont loan obd scanners' At that point, i got in my car, drove 3 miles down to the next nearest o'reillys. Mentioned my desired to the service tech at chatsworth, and he was able to finally provide me w scan. I understand that i may have not used the correct terminology to reference your resource obd scan protocol, but it seemed like Store Manager Anthony from Canoga Park, CA Oreillys branch had other reasons for intentionally refuting my service. I have previously visited that exact branch multiple times, having encountered other employees, as well as another store manager- never have a worse feeling walking out of an auto part store. Normally, I stick to pep boys/autozone/Napa, when it comes to automotive supply. I recently just started giving O'reillys a chance because it was local to my temporary stay in Irvine. My check engine light went off and I wanted to take it to find out what the trigger code was. The light went off before I could even get there but I still wanted to know what the computer had on record. The guy ran a diagnostic and told me what the code was and what part I might possibly need to replace. That was all great and really efficient. However This guy also took a picture of my license plate, which is weird. I didn't say anything at the time; mostly out of shock and confusion. About a couple of weeks ago, I ordered a transmission filter for a 2007 Toyota Corolla. The next day I arrived to pickup the part. I waited in line at the store, with a gentleman in front of me who was apparently purchasing a car battery for $249. Going back and forth, the customer finally made the decision to go through with the purchase. After payment, the customer asked the attending O'Reilly clerk whose name is RATHEL **where** the battery was located. Rathel did not even look up from the computer screen and just pointed to a hand dolley behind the sales counter. In addition, Rathel made NO attempt to assist the customer, forcing the customer to go behind the sales counter and push the hand dolley out the door by himself. When I approached the sales counter, I told Rathel that I was here to do a quick prepaid part pickup. I apologized for having forgot my face mask, and was talk down to like a retarded child for having done so. I went home to retrieve the face mask and immediately returned. When I opened the store door, I noticed that there were no customers present and that Rathel was looking on the computer screen. Rathel looked up quickly and returned his gaze to the computer screen without acknowledgement. I stood in a location well within Rathel's line-of-sight, but he just kept staring into the computer screen. A few minutes past, another O'Reilly clerk came over to assist me. Received the worst customer service from the "manager" HENRY. To sum it all up.. my husband purchased an alternator here that gave up way less than a year later. There is a warranty, but when it came down to getting a new one, Henry refused to offer a replacement because it "wasn't registered in the system". I called O'Reilly auto parts today for a locking gas cap for my car the gentleman I spoke to was very nice and told me they had it in stock and then I could come pick it up so I drove over there and I purchased it when I got home I put it on and it doesn't fit I called them back and they told me the one that would fit is in Pacoima the gentleman told me that he would call Pacoima store to make sure that they would hold it for me and that he would call me back he then called me back and told me they were holding it for me so I drove 25 minutes so that store and when I got there they told me they didn't have it that it was already on its way to the original store that I went on Sherman Way now if you ask me that's a big run around and not fair to me to have to drive all over the valley and still never get the part that I want so I called Rafeal the manager at the Sherman way store and all he could say is what do you want me to do I'll give you 15% off your next item well Rafeal that's not good enough so now tomorrow I will be calling corporate headquarters to report both stores and how this was handled meanwhile I went to AutoZone after all that right by my house and they had it in stock and it fit my car perfectly unfortunately I will never be using O'Reilly auto parts again They lost a good customer for ever there are even opening a new store by my house and I will not purchase one thing now they do not know how to run a business nor do they care about their customers so I highly recommend that you buy your parts elsewhere other than O'Reilly auto parts at any location you will be disappointed And frustrated unfortunately if they go out of business I will know why as far as Rafeal you should find a new job because he's going to need one read more
